There are multiple games where Sup Forums plays together, and it's really great: Terraria, Battlefront II, etc.
Here are some games that are objectively the best at potential for entertainment value amongst groups of characters; let's see if Sup Forums's proficient at keeping up with the reasons, and actually making something with the best possibilities for gaming:
ARK. This was controversial here, plausibly because of the performance and overall playstyles (taming, gathering, etc.), but it's so simple that coming together puts tribes at huge advantages. Metal is especially relevant to this, and getting it is as accessible as a saddled Quetz and Anky. Voila: metal bases, items, trading statuses..
The most requisite aspect is leveling, but this is also multiplied in teams. Beyond that, having most of everything is sorta winning, making the eventfulness somewhat static; but then it's obviously possible having duels, making gamemodes and arenas, etc.

EVE. This steps a lot of the sandbox designs up, but getting items is as simple as purchasing them, of which also potentially comes from real money (by PLEX, the subscription item that's tradable). That's somewhat minimized by the fact that skillfulness determines what engagements are taken and, thereof, won; yet having groups is still about the most effective tactic (with options ranging from "healing" ships, mobility jumpers, and stats boosters; to multiple types of CC roles, sizes of ships, and ranges). An example of a really effective composition is 5-10 cheap ships with lots of initial application (but usually low DPS), which clears ships before their reps or healers (logi) are properly established.
"Leveling" happens both online and offline, at consistent rates (affected by items and re-mappable attributes). This is also a limiting factor (e.g., on Titans, etc.), but getting into most playstyles (and even classes up to Dreadnoughts and Carriers, which are capitals as well) is pretty simple with some specialization. It has some of the best and most unique MMO gameplay, with some of the critisms being juxtaposition (action density) and what's, for some niches, minimalistic APM; but it's basically Diablo in 3D, with a 50% possibility of cargo-stacks and most items dropping when exploding, and many other designs, with a 90%+ character-produced economy..

evangelion is neither deep nor meaningful it's overrated retardedly written trash that only gets a free pass because it's considered an anime "classic" when in reality it has zero good qualities the only people who praise evangelion are animelets who think it'll net them respect and brownie points, like somebody who lists 2001: A Space Odyssey as their favourite movie
