try proposing an argument with supporting evidence first, you mental midget
try $350 and VRchat with anime wiafus then get back to me
I mean what is VR technically supposed to do?
If you want to experience virtual reality wouldn't you need more than just a pair of goggles. They should make very high tech VR rooms if you're expecting it to stimulate all your senses.
I like my VR, but i wouldn't recommend it just yet. Vive Pro's just around the corner
???
Yeah for sure, but where its currently at is a good stepping stone. Still waiting for the day we can play SAO-esk games
But in SAO the game killed you. Do you trust shitty asset flips not to fry your brain?
That type of Deep Dive VR is way in the future; for now it would be best to consider the possibilities and potential within our current paradigm for it.
Literally just took my headset off after a 8 hour binge.
It's amazing, and the best money I've ever spent on fun. It's the only thing that makes me feel like a kid again.
Just go on the oculus or vive subreddits, there's a billion "is it worth it?" posts
Inevitably, they post again a week later going "holy shit I dont know why I waited so long"
If you're poor, and cant afford it as a frivolous expense, I get it. It's a lot. I bought my headset for 499 CAD after taxes and shipping, and my computer is pic related so the whole setup was like 2 grand.
But holy shit do I have fun in so many things. I spent all evening a couple nights ago in a virtual apartment playing table tennis with my irl friend over vr, and we just sat in our chairs in our homes and hung out, the sense of presence makes multiplayer feel like you're with real people and not just looking at a screen.
It's a lot to get into, and the games are fantastic, but still limited, so it's not for everyone.
BUT, and this is a big but, if you want immersion, a sense of really being in a game and not just looking at a screen, and real experiences with people, vr is second to none. I almost don't play any monitor-based games anymore, it just feels too restrictive.
waste of money desu. Buy an oculus or wait for gen 2. Gen 1.5 only makes sense for people who bought the vive on launch and are also wealthy. Shit's targeted at "prosumers" so a >$1000 launch price is expected
Anyone who says that the VR isn't pretty amazing is just a poorfag who hasn't tried it or has tried it with one of those shitty cardboard/plastic things you put you phone in..
This. I thought vr was cool, but not where it should be yet. I tried a store demo and it wasn't great.
Then my little brother got psvr. I spent a night playing rec room while I was visiting him and his family, and was instantly sold. I literally bought the oculus rift online over my phone that night while I was there.
Seeing is believing, but you need to see a good experience/game. Sometimes those best buy demos just fucking suck, and mobile shit without positional tracking is to vr what static pictures are to film. Different worlds entirely. Almost everyone I've let demo my rig has bought vr themself
Anyone have that webm where somone owns cheap blow-up doll and VR turn it into a cute 2d girl?
I've had an Oculus Rift for a few months now and I can say that I am glad I purchased one. I didn't go with the Vive because it's too expensive and Gen 2 is coming out this year.
For my part, I can say that VR is amazing. It is unlike any other gaming experience I have at my disposal and for that reason it occupies a solid quarter of my gaming time. And when I do use VR it takes me somewhere else. I am very excited for Gen 2. Wireless plus higher resolution. I am very excited.
Also, the porn is fucking awesome.
I guess rendering modern graphics twice at once is a little challenging for... fucking everything and everyone.
PC VR solutions are 'good enough' to get enough of a taste to know this shit isn't going away any time soon, since it's only going to get better from here on out.
Also Beat Saber is due this year.
youtube.com
Okay but how good is VR porn?
why does a screen you strap to your head cost $600????
no way in hell the hardware inside costs that much. the fucking screen's not even that big. And don't tell me it's the motion controls that make it expensive either, I could buy like 20 fucking Wii controllers for that price and those are motion controls
why are they ripping people off so badly???
Do PC-oriented VR headsets have the same "cinematic mode" feature that the PSVR has where it looks like you're playing your video games at the cinema?
>vr porn
Between sexlikereal and piracy, I can't ever go back to 2d porn.
I play a full length 3d video, then use oculus dash to open multiple monitor windows to each side to play some hot 2d videos or look at pictures.
So I get the feeling of presence in the front, and if I look 90 degrees either way I get a collection of my favorite porn.
It's ridiculous, I'm jacking off in the future and its so much better, It's literally doubled my jacking off frequency.
Goddamit is vr the future. Gen 1 isn't perfect, I want wireless and better res, but holy fucking shit is it so worth the money already. It feels exciting to be on the bleeding edge
sold at a loss retard, oculus makes no money on headsets, htc makes about 200. Just because you don't understand job order costing doesn't mean something is a ripoff. Everyone thinks things should only be their material cost, fucking manufacturing, R&D, manufacturing overhead, etc etc
It has it but better. You can do it in any game or environment. I regularly run a simulation of deckards apartment from bladerunner and play emulated gamecube games on the tv or rainy balcony.
You can do it in anything. I like it for elite dangerous; I'll set up a home theater in my cockpit and fuck around. With a voice to text plugin I can shitpost and google to my hearts content verbally
Anyone with a psvr ever used it on PC?
Nah but I've used both psvr and Oculus, the psvr is my little brothers and we were talking about doing that for him. Whaddya wanna know?
Playhome is pretty intense. Not gonna lie pretty ashamed about what that game has made me do.
There's multiple software solutions for "big screen" VR stuff. Some simple which is just your desktop in a resizable/positional space, and others which try to integrate social VR shit while screensharing and hanging out in a 3d environment.
Yes. There is a problem where the screen slowly drifts left over time and there's no way to recenter it without either taking the headset off and putting it back on, or just rebooting it.
rift is 399 and often on sale for 349.
I feel bad for anyone who got a vive (I own both), but the touch controllers are legitimately amazing. Actually picking stuff up and aiming weapons and using melee and interacting with stuff just feels amazing.
There's even good games on VR now. From Other Suns, Lone Echo, VR Chat (not my thing but people love it), Robo Recall is great for a free game.
Fallout 4 is supposed to be amazing in VR but Im not willing to buy it. Skyrim VR should be fun too when it comes out for PC (PSVR, lol)
I will admit there is a relative lack of AAA content, but that pretty much applies to PC in general. Games are just shit these days. VR is still new.
It's not a meme, it's not going away. But it will be 5-15 years before it starts to catch on. Everyone needs a capable PC and the price needs to come down. The resolution could be better too. But the best part is the touch controllers. Valve needs to stop fucking up the VR experience with their gay wands.
I'm curious how psvr compares to vive/rift when used on PC. I don't expect it to be as good, but being able to use it on 2 platforms, and also being a bit cheaper, would make me more likely to buy one.
The HMDs work exactly as intended.
The problem is that almost everyone developing for it is an idiot. The current library is atrocious and no AAA dev is adding native support to their games.
You are a fucking retard. Idiots like you should fuck off from VR. I have a Vive and a Rift both are great for different reasons but Vive is superior in so many ways.
Only poor people and idiots talk shit about VR and every other piece of technology they don't understand or can't afford.
I agree, but at this point I would recommend waiting for the gen 2 devices before buying one.
>but the touch controllers are legitimately amazing
I just wish the Oculus had some degree of spatial positioning estimation when the headset/controllers are not being tracked 100% due to occlusion.
WMR headsets do it rather well, compared to my Touch which just freeze in place the second the camera can't see it.
I would absolutely love for a Cities: Skyline 3D mod. Anybody know of anything like that?
>I have a Vive and a Rift both are great for different reasons but Vive is superior in so many ways.
literally name one.
I'll wait for you to spend 5 minutes trying to get find your headset to get that on while getting the HMD on.
Literally the only aspect of the vive that is "better" for me is that my glasses go nicely into it. But I bought a Widmovr and that problem is now gone. I honestly can't even think of one aspect that is better on the vive. To me it's not even VR, the controllers are that bad. VR requires hand presence.
Even the tracking on my vive is worse than my rift.
play with my dick instead retarded faggot
Well op, it depends on how far you even want to go in the process of to do more want look like.
Seriously just get the 3rd sensor.
>yfw Facebook is dropping the amazing analog sticks on the touch for trackpad circle trackpad shit for CV2
i tried honey select with VR
didn't even feel good, one of the most unsatisfying faps of my life
for reals i'm worried that a bunch of companies are going to stick to making similar clones of the oculus/vive rather than pushing even further into what VR could be. We shouldn't settle with what we have now, there's a lot more to do
3d music videos are insane in vr. Just bonkers.
Check out:
>chocolate
>show it 2 me (especially this one)
>fantasynth: chez nous
all are insane in vr. Love it.
vive is really not doing so well anymore. They're pivoting to b2b sales; setting up demos and vr arcades. Oculus and (shockingly) wmr are going to dominate the consumer market for sure. Did not expect wmr to pick up so much traction. It's still janky from what I can tell but the cheaper headsets are huge in asia and eastern europe. Who would've thunk it?
Tracking is waaaay worse, but otherwise very comperable. Sense of immersion is similar as long as you face towards the camera, within 90 degrees each direction. Certainly not a bad way to dip your toes into the market, especially with gen 2 a year to 2 years out. buy psvr now, then buy gen 2 pc vr. Not a bad way to go desu The screen isn't quite as good either, but for the money and cross-platform function, it's a pretty big bonus. Personally I'd say go for it IF it supports motion controls on pc too
how many cameras do you have? I have 3 with a 3 meter by 4 meter space and its flawless except for the very farthest part of the corner without a camera if I face towards it. Anything under 3 meters is flawless
...
You sound like you have a weak neck. Only poor fags who can't do room scale hate on the Vive you are stupid.
Cheers, mate. Thanks.
just to clarify, tracking is way worse in terms of tolerance. You cant turn around or reach behind you, which is limiting. But facing 180 degrees forward is smooth sailing, and about on par for tracking, maybe slightly worse but you'd really have to look for it and be used to oculus or vive latency to even see it. very minimal
>Even the tracking on my vive is worse than my rift.
Look at this bait. Fuck off kid.
Playhome modded is a mind blowing experience. I mean fucking mindblowing.
I mean I have both and I have room scale set up for my vive, I don't know why you're trying to insult me by calling me poor when I have both.
Are you embarrassed about the cheap, plastic, shitty wands with awful grips that don't even come close to the Touch grips?
I'd need to get a USB card while at it because Oculus can't into DRIVER SETTINGS. I only have USB3 ports on this machine and can't do much else with them if both cameras are active due to them being complete bandwidth hogs, nevermind adding a third to the mix.
There ought to be a low/medium/high option for the camera sensor resolution, with low being the current "plugged into USB2 slot" mode.
You are spouting things that are wrong and are obviously trolling. Faggots like you are the problem right now.
Yea I have never had to worry about that. The only thing I bought was a USB extender so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
not him but I also have both. Vive has more stutter, although I believe its steamvr rather than the headset.
If you try and draw a smooth circle around your body, the vive jitters once or twice per circle, a 3-sensor oculus setup for me has generally 0 to 1
biggest weakness for sure. Worked flawlessly for me but holy shit was I sweating bullets setting it up. Didn't want to buy a fucking inatek card on top of everything else
palmer pls
>Fighting Polygon Team: First Person Puzzler Edition is regarded as one of the best VR games ever
This is why VR is dead and shit.
I have two cameras, mounted up on my wall aimed downwards. Small working space here so the limited vertical FoV gets in the way at times when I end up getting too close to them and do shit like reaching up or touching the floor.
I don't need full 360 tracking, but I'd like to be able to touch my floor without the controllers going into derp mode about five inches away from it when it could easily just estimate where it's moving and snap back once in reliable sensor range again.
There's literally *no* comparison between the shitty grip virgin "button" and the chad 0-1 touch grip.
Literally no comparison.
Stop trying to trick people into spending 300$ more than they should for cheaper feeling plastic garbage.
Hey look it's another faggot that didn't setup the lighthouses properly. lol at your life
That's a risk I'm willing to take.
One of is for soy boys with tiny hands and limp wrists while also being backed by Facebook... You are fucking retarded.
>fighting polygon team
Fuck you I heard in the announcers voice. There's no reason why that was so funny to me.
But that's wrong user
it definitely took quite a bit of trial and error to lock it in
That's not very constructive m8, we're all having a friendly convo while you're having an autistic meltdown. I'm sorry you need to violently defend your choices in platforms.
We're all vr bros, why so hostile? We all want this shit to take off and be the future
Also, oculus touch controllers are objectively best on the market for now. I hope knuckles beats it, but its a high bar to set. Very hopeful
Post eyes
I would gladly risk death to experience the perfect mmo world.
Anyone who still supports Rift should be banned from the internet.
whats it like using vr for general computer use? like watching youtube, using internet, playing non-vr games
Notice how vivelets always say emotional things like this, while Ocuchads present actual arguments about why their product is superior?
Makes me think.
but why? It's objectively the better deal right now, and you can play oculus games on vive just like you can play vive games on oculus.
Why spend more to get less?
The shills have arrived abandon thread!
I'm thinking of getting a Psvr next week.
What are the best games to start with? , I have RE7, Tekken 7, Rush of Blood and starblood arena and I'm thinking of getting Superhot VR and Polybius
Cool but ultimately gimmicky. It works well, very well in fact (pulling youtube out and pinning it in a game is cool as shit) but having said that, honestly, after experimenting with it, I haven't done it much. I wouldn't say it's realistic to be "productive" in VR. You do it a few times and then realize it's just faster on your monitor.
But amazing for stuff like space trucking in Elite.
Weirdly true. I think it's a buyers remorse thing. At launch, everyone was pro-vive. It looked like the clear winner. But then oculus got roomscale, etc, and dropped the price, added free games and great deals, and they're killing it right now. The market decides which is the better value proposition and they overwhelmingly choose oculus, vive is really only doing okay in the b2b market with vr arcades and stuff. I like their position with open vr more, but you can't beat the cost and quality of the rift. WMR I think will improve and dominate too. Curious how pimax plays out, would love some 4k graphics
I've been posting since the beginning you manbaby. God, I can't imagine being this assblasted
its pretty good for cockpit experiances desu. Cheaper than a 3 monitor setup for driving sims.
Not an argument.
Support what, the only hardware provider actually trying to get games above indie-tier quality released for it?
This level of shill is amazing. How many tendies do they pay you?
>has thousands of dollars to waste and real life friends who also have thousands of dollars to waste
>plays virtual ping pong
??? this is actually the worst board lmao
Terrible for anything with typing. But if you want to watch twitch, youtube, whatever, it's nice. I have a big couch at the edge of my playspace. I flop out on that, teleport myself to some cozy environment, and open up a few windows for reddit, Sup Forums, youtube, twitch, etc. Resolution is still a factor but with a big screen it looks good to me imo.
have you tried any flight sims with motion controls? Amazing. vtol vr and ultrawings are particularly good
I'm starting to think you don't even have vr user. Screenie of your library? I'll do the same.
>doesn't know how shit pimax is
Enjoy your no fov you chink shill
He's right though. The vive is not a product I'd recommend, the Rift is. I'd rather be with Gaben than Zuckerjew but the quality of the products is simply unbalanced, especially when you factor in the price. The Rift honestly feels like the premium product while the vive feels cheap, the prices are completely reversed.
I feel bad for people who's closed mindedness confines them to pancake games.
It's perfectly capable, people are simply trying to use for what it's not intended to be used for.
DOOM and Skyrim. I know Skyrim is dumb but hey, if you get the VR, you might as well sink your teeth into whatever's available. Watch DOOM though, it's fast paced and is the only game to get me slightly dizzy if I tried playing while standing.
lol that's pretty much what I'm expecting, but I'd like to be wrong, just because I want vr to improve. I really dont think I'll be wrong though.
We're eight hours away so it's like we were back in the good old days :3 we caught up and talked about life, it was really comfy
Steam vr, will post oculus library next. Feel free to ask for reviews! Will also post pirated folder
Really love the oculus controllers and the grip button, feels great throwing objects between your hands and catching them.
The way it senses where your fingers are to do pointing, thumbs up etc is great too.
>want a vr headset
>don't want to spend 400 burgers
when will vr get cheaper fuck
pirated games plus lewd folder
For vr porn I recommend sex like real. Every paid video has demos, and it just aggregates every sites' videos. Made to be used one handed. Shit's dank
I don't know why more games don't use Motion Controls for cockpit interaction, like grabbing the wheel to drive a car, or a joystick for a helicopter.. I've made both of those and they feel great. Not perfect but fun.
Someone is definitely going to get rich when they make an open world GTA type game. I was making it but work took over my life.
yeah the incremental controllers were perfect. It's so intuitive. I think wand-designed games are inherently a lot less immersive than hand-designed ones. The touch controllers are fucking awesome, I hope the knuckles are as good as everyone is wanting
oculus 1/?
VR video needs an overhaul. Maybe some Kinect-like depth map info so you can at least "move" a little forward/back so there's some stereoscopy that isn't just whatever the static location of the camera and its focus is set at.
That and the pitiful resolution the current systems allow you to get for what's ahead of you without requiring 4k+ resolutions for something not blurry.
VR is a great way to induce vomiting for me. Shit makes me sick to my stomach.
be warned, a lot of short films and experiences, I like to have a bunch of freebies to show new people. It's really fun watching people lose their minds, especially after a night of boozing.
try reducing your soy intake
Hate zuck and FB but you can't argue Oculus has the better industrial design and dev team. The controllers are just excellent and I really like the experience of putting on the headset and it just goes straight into the menu in 4 seconds or so.
Valve are always good at putting out kinda a beta techdemo version of something but they just lack the drive to ever go beyond that because their income comes from selling games not making software or products.
This is why Valve has launched The Lab and
and Oculus has launched Lone Echo
sexlikereal has that as a plugin! It helps, but until we move away from sbs barrel distortion to depth mapping it's just a bandaid :/ we'll reach the promised land one day. For now though it definitely makes a big difference
no. I do want a a simcade dogfighting game a space sim and a HOTAS though, not really interested in motion controls.
Why are VR fans not interested in playing normal games like Far Cry 5, Sea of Thieves, God of War, Kingdom Come, Metro Exodus, etc. with VR and instead only push for gimmicky indie shit?
I have a question folks
Everyone who has tried VR ends up really enjoying it. So why is there this gigantic army of blunderfags who shit on VR as if they've ever tried it?
I get that people want (you)'s but this extends outside of Sup Forums into real life where I have had conversations with faggots who say "well VR just isnt that good" and then after a little bit of conversing they admit they never put on a headset. So is it just contrarianism? Trying to put down an emerging tech to look cool, like those ads you see at the bottom of Sup Forums urging people to not invest in the stock market?
fuck me I got a lot of games
I like the motion controls for flipping switches and turning dials; it's nice for sims to actually spool up an engine by reaching over and priming the battery with a switch sequence, but yeah for actual flying I really fucking want a HOTAS. Just sold some more bitcoin and I think I might splurge on that and a wheel/pedals for racing
I just wouldn't know how you'd do depth mapping and have colour toning to the scene as well without severely bloating the filesize though, as you'd want at least three cameras recording a scene for it for a decent "Viewing from the front" coverage without any visible holes in the depth map geometry.
