So what do we think, is there any hope for this series returning to it's roots?
Or is just doomed to mediocrity and some shitty arts and crafts gimmick?
...My money's on clay.

"Clayper Mario"
1. The third game never comes out and we are left with SPM
2. The third game does come out but it sucks relative to the first two because they didn't have their shit together any more
3. That bug game comes out and sucks but it gets spammed so much here that people hate it even more and Paper Mario is ruined forever
4. We get another toad game
sequel to Super Paper Mario please.
There is no way in hell a real paper mario game will be allowed to exist so long as that decrepit walking fossil miyamoto still works at nintendo.
It really sucks too because paper jam is an absolutely gorgeous game in screenshots.
>stamps
>staplers
>paperclips
>tape
>glue
>crayons
>ink
>graphite
>erasers
So, what other paper-themed shit could even come out of it
Until Miyamoto fucks off and/or dies, I can't imagine the series improving.
Or even continuing to exist after 2 failures in a row.
Gotta come up with some names for those gimmicks, user.
>Paper Mario: Stampede
>Paper Mario: Staple Fable
>Paper Mario: It looks like you want to play a good paper Mario game, would you like some help?
>Taper Mario: p.i.
>Paper Mario: Sticky Situation
>Paper Mario: Crayon Carnage
>Paper Mario: YOU GOT INK ALL OVER MY POEMS MAN
>Paper Mario: Graphite Gallivant
>Paper Mario: Erased from Existence
>Is there any hope for this series returning to it's roots?
There is, but not from Nintendo.
Metroid returned to its roots after the disaster that was Federation Force. The same thing can happen for Paper Mario.
I think the first two games were good enough. I love super paper mario too but I know it's just me. You can't keep wanting too much of a great thing. The series had some excellent games and that's good enough for me.
As long as Tanabe exists, no
And as long as Paper Mario fags exists, hell no.
Stop spamming this shit. You're not hyping anyone up, you're just pissing them off.
We get it this game exists. Enough already
I'm not allowed to be excited for the best paper mario game in decades?
what's the name of this game?
PM is doomed to more LOL DUDE WE'RE MADE OF PAPER XDDD comedy that has been plaguing the series since Shitter Star.
And no, the first 3 games were subtle about it. They used it as visual gags like stairs appearing, or a bridge, or Mario turning into an airplane, but it's fucking obnoxious how much they've run the LOL EVERYTHING IS PAPER gimmick to the ground.
God I wish I could help write for this game.
Bug Fables! You can find a free demo here!
paperbugdev.itch.io/bug-fables
And make sure to donate to the ongoing indiegogo campaign if you like it! Bee needs your help, user!
tl:dr it's not allowed to exist.
Please stop shilling, user-kun. I like the game but I don't like your autism. Let us enjoy the game and the bugs in peace.
Depends on how much bing bing wahoo it is.
I wish you could too because you'd surely be better than the talentless idiot filling the game from top to bottom with literal shit.
Wow, what a fucking waste.
They've given up on PM. If they cared even a bit they'd have released TTYD on the online shop. Which they haven't.
It's almost as if they are ashamed of the first 2 games... for some retarded reason.
I'm afraid to watch Nintendo directs now because if they rape paper Mario again I don't know how long I'll weep this time
Am I the only one who actually enjoys the realistic paper art-style, including the cutout lines on characters. The world being made of paper was what I actually saw with the first two games and I think that people are being way to autistic about it, since it led to gimmicks like stickers and paint that the last two entries had. Like sure when dialogue literally refers that the world really is paper I see as annoying and unfunny, but something like locations forming by folding, characters getting crumpled when hurt or down, etc are what I don't mind.
I actually hope that if a traditional Paper Mario happens, it uses this art-style because it feels way too unique and cute to be wasted on a mediocre game like Color Splash.
>YOU GOT INK ALL OVER MY POEMS MAN
Is this a reference?
>Exclamation points
If you're gonna shill at least be subtle.
Although I do want this now. Wish the characters weren't retarded. Is it on steam?
If you want it on steam, you'd better fund the indiegogo campaign
Paper Mario is legit dead. Pretty sure the original director and composer left too so enjoy your Toads.
I try to be emotionally dead about these things but seriously fuck Miyamoto and fuck Tanabe.
Wait, I've only seen gameplay. Is the writing really that bad?
Fuck off, falseflagger
It's Paper Mario without any of the soul or wit.
Yeah, I actually just finished watching some streamer and--yikes, the writing feels like it was bought in the frozen aisle of a supermarket for $1.99. Now I REALLY wish I could help.
>Dude now I know how a Napkin feels lol
>Us Toads sure are useless
This is every joke. Every single joke.
I was referring to wanting to write for Paper Bug, actually, but you're definitely right on Paper Mario's writing jumping feet first into shit. I played through the entirety of Sticker Star and that was enough for me--I can't imagine how awful Color Splash is.
Who was the old director? Did he retire or something?
Seen too many get burned by those. We should shill it though
Paper Mario: Labo soon
It's over. Just play Paper Mario on N64 again. TTYD is a chore to play, the combat is alright but it's 25% of the game, not nearly enough to justify trudging through it again
Just donated $15, but I hope he gets a better writer.
Were they failures though?
Legit asking. I didn't bother with either sticker shit or paper jam, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the latter get a switch port.
Super Paper Mario is still the highest selling Paper Mario. Sticker Star sold well enough at first but In heard it had a massive return rate--plus it was coasting off the brand still. Can't imagine how bad CS did.
This
Fuck you
Shit, I realized I confused paper jam with color splash.
I figured CS sold like ass, but wouldn't be surprised to see a Switch port.
I'm glad those two titles bombed though. Just wish it didn't have to mean one of my favorite series dying.
Better it dies than be a corpse paraded through the console streets.
