It's probably been changed up from 2 where instead of some lengthy attack that has a big finisher it's just a quick command that is available when you're near one of the other characters, kind of like in FFXV. I remember in one of the earlier trailers Sora did something similar with Goofy.
I'm guessing it uses up some of the Drive/EX gauge instead of killing your MP.
