Given the game doesn't really have a full simulation of sound, it's just triggers tied to actions having an aoe that simulate sound, makes sense.

The helicopter is effectively invisible anyway unless you call the extraction inside a base or right on top of a tank unit side-op. It's never in any danger of being shot down unless you intentionally try to make that happen. You don't have to worry about how deep in enemy territory you are or what route it needs to fly out of the AO.
It's a magical "exit door" completely removed from the game world, and a big part of open-world games is that everything works under the same rules, which MGSV fails at.
