How new are you? Guild cards were given out to pretty much everyone before because they had benefits. However this time you never have the chance to get to know people because of the shitty SOS system and to make things worse there is an achievement of 50 guild cards.

the cats are nice though since they increase your odds with the cat gathering thing in your house though it's usefulness seems to end quite abruptly before the end of high rank
Cats are great at getting certain mats though. Pukei refused to drop toxin sacs for me but that's all cats bring back when they hunt it (any sacs in general really). They are also really good at getting odoggo sinews even though those are break rewards.

I actually enjoyed how people always exchanged GCs after Quests in the last couple titles, because that actually made sense. They have next to no benefit here and why would I want GCs from randoms I haven't even met? It wouldn't bother me so much if that shitty Icon would go away after pressing Start or some shit

For the achievement. Then you can just delete them all and block them idk. But the achievement and the SOS system are what is making this shit.
They could remedy this by doing what they have always done and make specific multiplayer ranks. Maybe they are saving that up for G rank when that come out.
They fucked up the online system so it feels like a solo experience even if you're playing online. And you're faster solo anways cause online balancing is fucked.

I'm digging the game on my PS4, even though it runs like ass. It's my first Monster Hunter (Technically bought a PSP one, but never really got into it), and now I kind of want to play more of them.
I'm kinda' thinking about just playing that PSP one on my Vita; I think it was the last one they made for the system, but I'm curious if there's any chance they're going to bring XX to the West. That looks great, and I'd love to play it on the Switch.

I actually went and imported XX cause I wanted to play Monhun on the go too, and holy shit World is the best thing that ever happened to Monhun. Literally the only thing that is worse than other Monhuns is the lack of Content (which makes sense because this is the first time they couldn't copy&paste content since the Ps2) and balancing issues which they are trying to fix.

If you're trying to go back to one of the older ones your best bet would be 4U if you have a 3ds, it's the closest one to World in structure, and probably the best one after World in general.
The PSP ones feel pretty archaic at this point cause verticality wasn't a thing yet. Anyone that tries to tell you that the old flat style was better is about as nostalgia blind as it gets.
Awaken was always a thing. Not sure why it wasn't just a one or two point skill in world though

Doesn't matter either if you use a swaxe or CB, since some of their moves awaken it anyway without needing armor skills
