>xbox 360 pad is dying on me >need a new controller for PC >decide to shell out the extra cash and get an Xbone controller since that Dpad looks nice >doesn't even come with a USB cable >most USB cables don't even work >the ones that do repeatedly disconnect and the port is so shallow and cheap that slight movement will unplug the controller >can connect wirelessly via bluetooth >but only on Windows 10 >on anything else you need to buy a $30 proprietary adapter because reasons >has a headphone jack >only works on windows 10 because reasons
Why the fuck was M$ so cheap that they couldn't even package the controller with a fucking cable that actually fits this trash?
Is my controller just fucked or are these controllers really a giant meme and they're just trash for playing with a wired connection?
turns out the controller is just shit even with the official cables youtu.be/Hoq-HOgt2Fc
Jacob Gutierrez
you can buy the windows 10 wireless adapter if you have windows 7 or windows 8 as well, you just have to download the drivers yourself. it's basically plug and play for windows 10 tho
Jaxson Jones
just get the extra dongle and rechargeable batteries. it's honestly one of the better controllers i've used. at least it ain't a dualshock 4
William Russell
>you can buy the windows 10 wireless adapter if you have windows 7 or windows 8 as well The problem is that any bluetooth adapter at all works on W10 for 7 and 8 they force you to buy the $30 official adapter.
>just get the extra dongle and rechargeable batteries
>spending $30 on a USB cable that should have come with the controller in the first place Regardless, the USB port doesn't work because its trash. I have to buy a 30 fucking dollar proprietary adapter, or send it back to M$ for "repairs" and just get sent back a basic ass model that will break just as quickly because these controllers weren't meant to be used wired apparently.
Cooper Morales
>doesn't even come with a USB cable You can buy the one for windows that comes with a cable. Its funny because its the same as the wireless one but it comes with a cable and they're both the same price.
David Reed
suck it up and buy an overpriced official xbox360 wired pad
Chase Cook
Extra dongle? Use the bluetooth
Brandon Cruz
I always hear this but the usb port on mine is really stiff and the cable never comes lose. I have an older model controller though so maybe it's worse on newer ones.
Elijah Gray
>Use the bluetooth Only on Windows 10 goyim
Colton Brown
You let that happen, its only get worse
Lucas Phillips
is there no way to bypass the winblows 10 requirement via Bluetooth?
Jace Torres
i don't know what you're talking about i'm just using an old phone charger cable and it works fine win10 though look up "xbone controller on win7" and try to find a fix
Carson Harris
Thanks op, I was thinking of buying it to play monster hunter world when it comes for pc, now I'll just get a 360 one.
Dylan Morris
fag win 10 is fine and it has bluetooth. why the fuck would you want a wireless controller only to have to plug it in? fuck off you fucking normie fag loser
Zachary Brooks
>look up "xbone controller on win7" and try to find a fix Wow thanks for the advice, you're a wise and powerful sage you fucking retard
Blake Watson
i have that first gen controller that doesn't do the bluetooth yet. i'm not saying it's fair, i agree it'd be better if it came with it but it works perfectly with the dongle.
Aaron Foster
OP here, definitely stick with 360 The Xbone dpad is much nicer, but the triggers are too sensitive and its also a piece of shit that will stop keeping a connection if you so much as jiggle the cable.
Apparently this is a very common problem, for whatever fucking reason M$ never anticipated that people wouldn't use it wirelessly, so the charging port is fucking garbage and anyone that uses it wirelessly eventually breaks it just from slight movement.
Worst $100 I've ever spent
Justin Parker
>not using win10 in 2018 What are you even doing?
Ian Wood
>>doesn't even come with a USB cable Yes it does, you just had to buy the wired version.
John Johnson
>i'm not saying it's fair, i agree it'd be better if it came with it but it works perfectly with the dongle. Thing is, I've already bought 5 or 6 USB cables thinking they were the problem. Turns out the controller is just shitty and the port is broken now for some reason.
Whoever decided that microUSB should be a standard should be fucking shot.
Jaxson Carter
get a ds4. then you can also use the touchpad as a mouse.
Evan Martinez
>most USB cables don't even work
sounds like PEBKAC to me
Eli White
But dualshock is shit
Nicholas Rogers
the Xbox controller requires a certain amount of power and most microUSB cables can't supply it.
Colton Johnson
Xbone dpad is shit tho pham
Christopher Phillips
Its better than the Dualshock's D"buttons" Only a fag would want to use a Dbutt over a Dpad
Isaac Torres
That's why you get the one with a play and charge kit included. My cable has yet to come loose by accident.
Aiden Allen
Is this a problem with fucked up american electronics or something because I'm literally using cables I got from poundland
Grayson Scott
I prefer the DS4's dpad, I play a lot of fightan.
I prefer the Xbone triggers for racing vidya
Cooper Powell
Guess I got lucky then, I got the latest version a few months ago and a cheap mini/micro(whatever it is) usb cable and it works fine for me.
Joseph Bennett
why did you even post?
Adrian Brooks
PS3 controller support is very good now with the SCP drivers. If you throw in a Bluetooth dongle, you can even use it wirelessly.
Gabriel Anderson
Just get 4 360 controllers and wireless adapter. That's what I did and I play local-coop with my co workers on my PC.
Daniel Moore
I have no respect for people who would let that filth touch their PC.
Nicholas Murphy
I got that wireless adapter, but it's a cheap knock off. still works though.
Mason Gray
please kys
Colton Green
It works natively with Steam link Bluetooth though, right?
Austin Bell
desu user you could get a DS3 for peanuts and a cheap 99c Bluetooth dongle, the SCP package makes connecting the thing and setting it up as a wireless Xbone controller a peace of cake, hell you could do it with a knock off DS3 and it'd still work flawlessly.
Only hassle is not seeing the actual xbone face buttons in your hands, but still fuck M$ and their jewish ways.
Jose Lee
I don't know if the one I got was a cheap knock off but it has served me well for 10 years/when I was back in middle school. Bought it from bestbuy.
Dylan Rogers
I just went back to using my old 360 pad with the wireless adapter when the Xbone pad decided to be a cheap piece of shit
Kinda bummed though, I play a lot of SFV and I was enjoying that nice Dpad on the Xbone
Caleb Kelly
>dualshock
Ayden Lopez
t. will switch to 10 in a few years anyway because 7 will become obsolete just like xp did
Matthew Ramirez
I remember using the Xbone on Win 7 not long ago it was ok. For some reason it worked with the 360 dongle weirdly enough.
Thomas Rogers
not op but some people don't like the layout on ps3 controllers
Jack Bennett
>can connect wirelessly via bluetooth >but only on Windows 10
This is false.
t. 8.1 user
James Perez
its the same with the DS4, fucking garbage that cant work on PC to save its life all you can do is accept that modern console divisions dont give a shit about making their controllers work on PC and stick with ds3 with unofficial drivers/old 360 pads
Ayden Morgan
>children that had a 360 as their first exposure to games dont like the dual shock layout
Jacob Phillips
>Pay for the controller. >Pay again for the privilege of using it wirelessly. >Pay again to charge it. or worse pay to replace the batteries.
Fuck that shit.
Chase Peterson
i'm 27, my first controller was an nes controller and my second one was an original gameboy
left stick superior just feels more natural to me
John Adams
Get the sf30 8bitdo
Hudson Thompson
>children that grew up using the exact same controller for 3 gens don't understand that other people might not like it Dualshock is just uncomfortable m8 its just a SNES pad with shitty handles and two thumbsticks lazily tacked on They somehow took one of the best controllers ever made, ruined the Dpad and made it uncomfortable to hold
Also Concave thumbpads > Convex thumbpads
Grayson Murphy
>>can connect wirelessly via bluetooth >>but only on Windows 10 really? shit i already bought the adapter i thought xbox controllers were wifi tech or some shit.
Levi Martinez
>mfw when browsing Sup Forums from bed with a 360 controller it's seriously max comfy, I just use a knockoff wireless adapter I got on amazon for $10 and controller companion
Aiden Scott
Should've returned it to the store. Are you retarded?
Carson Green
Nope. Sorry MS, my memory is not that short. I only dual boot into W7 for a few games anymore.
Alexander Rogers
...
Matthew Diaz
What? I just put my DS4 in pairing mode, my win 7 PC picked it up as a bluetooth device immediately, and as soon as I allowed the connection its drivers started installing. When that finished Steam popped up and asked if I wanted to configure the controller. Couldn't have been easier.
Brayden Thompson
mine came with a usb cable, are you high
Robert Sullivan
You are doing something wrong because you can even buy a controller with the cable for pc included in the box.
Charles Rivera
me too, bought the bundle with overpriced dingle
Brayden Scott
Sup Forums here, Linux sucks for gaming. >inb4 wine/muh Steam games.
Winblows still has more games, better drivers and support.
10 is surprisingly comfy once you neuter all the bullshit.
Mason Wood
I bought a spectra controller because it was on sale as my 360 wired controller(s) died. Had it about a year and no problems with it Comfy AF
Asher Gray
Better question is why they have discontinued making xbox 360 wired pads? Only Chinese knockoffs exist.
Josiah Wood
the micro USB connection is so flimsy just from average use you're going to find the thing disconnecting at random intervals pretty quickly
Colton Barnes
>tfw 10 year old Dual Action is still going strong
Feels fucking good, man.
Connor King
>why have they discontinued making a controller for a console they don't support anymore now that they have a new one dumb frogposter
Charles Carter
Tell me about the Elite.
Jacob Lewis
its really expensive and offers nothing the original doesn't aside from weird as buttons on the back for CoD Kiddies that can't take their thumb off the right stick and replaceable thumbpads which are kinda nice but not worth the price
Zachary Martin
>>the ones that do repeatedly disconnect and the port is so shallow and cheap that slight movement will unplug the controller the PS4 controller is just the same, it's infuriating, I had to buy a bluetooth dongle
Evan Gonzalez
those assholes are still selling you pads that require you to buy batteries. its a fucking joke.
both nintendo and Sony have a better pad this gen.
Camden Moore
Question for controller aficionados here, is there a controller with super precise sticks with zero jitter and dead zone? I have sensitive thumbs and want a controller with surgical precision.
Ian Adams
>surgical precision. Not even memeing, but you're gonna have to just stick with a mouse if you want super precise inputs. Controllers are best used for games that don't require precise anything
Ryder Anderson
I tried it out in a store once.
The bumpers and triggers are far too narrow to be comfortable. To press the bumpers, you have to do it dead center. They seemed too high up as well.
Christian Edwards
>SCP drivers
Tyler Collins
I bought an xbone controller a couple years ago and it came with a great USB cable, I use it to charge my PS4 controller all the time idk
Henry Garcia
There's no way that thing is actually decent, is there? How is the dpad?
Jaxon Taylor
awful analogue sticks, terrible dpad and the battery is located where your fingers go, so it's incredibly uncomfortable, possibly the worst controller i've used.
Dominic Taylor
Most micro USB cables are "Charging only" and lack 2 of the 4 cables required for data transfer, you need to make sure the cable you use has all 4 cables
Evan Bailey
Most official PC gamepad software lets you calibrate the deadzone.
The 360 controller, for example, has a fuckhuge deadzone by default, but it's curable.
Justin Stewart
The only people who praise this are fucktards who used one back when this was the only option on PC and havent tried any of the much superior console pads.
Its "here's your controller, bro" tier.
Hudson Baker
>Its "here's your controller, bro" tier. Figured as much. Is there a decent cheap option? Buying an expensive controller if its wired connection is flimsy would be a no-no, and my autism prefers the wired connection.
Angel Ward
most console controllers released this or last gen are good enough. I like the DS4, the WiiU Pro and the Switch Pro. DS4 works on PC with just a micro USB cable and for the Nintendo pads I have a Mayflash adapter.
Michael Gutierrez
>can connect wirelessly via bluetooth >but only on Windows 10
Hmmm, works fine on my Win7 machine.
Adam Allen
Should have gotten a DS4, the Xbone controller is cheap garbage.
Zachary Young
>you should have gotten cheap garbage instead of cheap garbage
Robert Sanchez
Thank god i just bought another 360 controller when the old one died last year. What the fuck is microsofts problem now with this windows 10 garbage and shit hardware.
Benjamin Carter
Recently bought a PS4 controller to play Cemu games. I had to, because of Gyroscope controls. It's OKish. But I sure lov my 360 controller much more.
Logan Wood
>It's okay when sony and nintendo do it You're a waste.
Nicholas James
>It's OKish. This is pretty much how I feel about the DS4 as well. Its a step up from the old DS design I guess, but its still not great.
Sebastian Rodriguez
i actually legit bought that shit the other day, microsofts website has buy 3 month get 3 month then setup auto-renew (which i will conveniently turn off when it comes down to the wire) for a 7th month.
Colton Smith
I still don't understand needing batteries being bad when rechargeable ones exist.
Landon Sullivan
kids can't afford to buy batteries
Leo Harris
Its still fucking obnoxious having to do that. why cant I just plug it in like any other fucking pad released in the last decade?
It adds a chore nobody asked for only because they want to save 50cents off every controller.
Nicholas Reed
Play and charge kits exist you big baby
Sebastian Rodriguez
Im not going to pay for some crap like that when the competition solved the issue a decade ago, for free.
On top of that the MS pads are fucking mediocre.
Bentley Jones
CHRIST, I thought my controller was damaged, you shits are having the cable disconnect problem too? Why the fuck do they let this happen, I paid 130 maple pesos for a real good one..
Connor Edwards
>bought an xbox one a while ago >decide to try controller on PC just because >download drivers >connect controller to PC with a spare micro USB I had laying around >works without a hitch >go back to the X360 controller anyway
Noah Edwards
>you shits are having the cable disconnect problem too? yup, I've spent about $40 now replacing the cables because I thought I was just getting scammed by cheap cables, but the controller is so bad now that it will rapidly flicker on and off and short out my USB ports.
I don't even plug it in anymore, I also spent like $120 canuck bux on mine. What a waste of fucking money
Kevin Murphy
Had my 260 controller for +10 years but now left stick doesn't work correctly anymore, wanted to get a xbone controller but after seeing this thread I'm not so sure anymore. Can't find wired 360 controllers anywhere, it's all wireless now :(
