Will snaking ever be a thing again?

Will snaking ever be a thing again?

>Prolonged Rocket Boost glitch improves the game 100x with a heightened skill ceiling

This game was peak Mario kart. I'll never enjoy a Mario kart like this again.

I'll beat any of you at this game, me and my boys.

No, it's too hard for babies. And Mario Kart won't ever have a skill ceiling again, just look at mk8d.

Mkds was great

>nostalgiafags

I could snake on only a few maps but god damn some people were good at mario kart. Even with my snaking being close to perfect they would insanely ahead of me

Overall, I liked the nitro courses of MKDS the most. The retro ones were overall pretty shit, though.

>In a tight ass itemless race knowing damn well if you touch a warp pipe you're taking an L
Replace this gay standard kart with gay Toad for Luigi/Egg 1

Snaking with that d-pad was murder on my hands. I remember getting carpel tunnel from that shit. I used to play this competitively.

My left thumb had a 6-pack from this game

>just look at mk8d.
I was floored they took out firehopping. What the fuck? Did they take Sakurai's attitude and say "No kind of techs allowed in MY Mario Karts!" It was a lot less offensive than snaking which basically annihilated the d-pads and shoulder buttons.

My left arm froze in the middle of the night. I remember waking up to the horror of it. I couldn't move it at all.

>I used to play this competitively.
Weren't matches a pain to set up because friend rooms weren't a thing yet?
They want to keep everything that could give experiences players an advantage over newbs out of their multiplayer games.

Yeah, they were. The online infrastructure was pretty shitty. But then, it's the DS so that's to be expected.

>Weren't matches a pain to set up because friend rooms weren't a thing yet?
Not him but yes. Basically if you did a 'friend search' it would match you up any friend who happened be searching (and you wouldn't know who it was until it did.) A friend of mine was doing 'non-snaking' tourney matches and I accidentally crashed a few of them by joining and snaking not realizing it was 'competitive.'

Although there was a kind of silly excitement where'd you be racing casually and suddenly the friend icon appears. So you would go into friend search just to see who it was. Also you had to use a cheating device to play all the tracks online which was lame. But once you did it was great to 'unlock' most of the better tracks like Waluigi Pinball or Airship Fortress.

snaking ruined my desire to ever play online because it meant the top % of players ruined it for everyone else.

That was actually pretty nice, having your friends randomly show up in races online. There were some aspects of Mario Kart DS's online that I miss. I do remember the "no snaking" rules that people tried to implement. I used to do that too until I got gud and snaked myself. Those were good times, I miss them.

I'd switch MK8 with Wii. I honestly found the track designs in that one to be rather dull. The rest are alright.

>MK8D
I enjoy MK8D online, and I'm intending on maxing out Versus VR over the next year. Baby-proof tracks like Mario Kart Stadium blow but tight courses like Cloudtop Fortress and Wario Stadium allow for skilled racers to pull ahead of the pack

I remember the little blue friend icon! Good times

This is the kind of mindset that ruined every Mario Kart after DS.

I was a snaker back in the day, but to be honest I didn't like snaking. It just felt like one more annoying thing we all had to do just to compete. It didn't feel like it added to the skill ceiling because it wasn't hard to pull off. All it ended up doing was killing my arms.

I get the premise, that it was supposed to be something that separated skillful players from regular ones, but when everyone is doing it in the end, what's the point? It means we're all having to complete this exact same task, meaning we're right back where we started.

Why is 64 there?
I actually think that mk8d has some of the worst track designs in the series. There's no track in the game that stands out to me in terms of gameplay.
Some look pretty, but visuals stop mattering after you've played it a few times.
Skilled players will always beat complete scrubs, because 80% of the people you meet online in mk8 don't even try to take turns tight.
also
>caring about vr
People are still like this now
>oh my god he picked morton what an asshole!!
Snaking wasn't hard to do, but it was hard to do it properly and fast.

The difference isn't in snaking, but Prolonged Rocket Boost, or PRB.

Missing a single mini-turbo in succession meant you lost your ability to snake normally over rough terrain (shortcuts). This is what takes the game to the next level. It is essentially a glitch of course.

Well, to teach his own I guess.

Was MKWiii the one with wheelies for more speed? that game was awesome

It's still the most fun Mario Kart to me.

yes, it was basically Mario Motocross because karts were fucking trash in that game.

It's been like, almost a decade since I last played the game, but all I remember is that it came down to who perfected their snaking the best, and picking certain karts with a good boost. It also made GP way too easy.

They should have just made a sequel to Mario Excitebike. That would have satisfied MKWii fans.

Which mariokart had the best Rainbow road?
imo it was either DS or MKwii
