>people unironically play single player shooter games

explain this

>BOT

that's what every single player campaign feels like, playing cs 1.4 against bots

What is there to explain?

let's start with why?

I honestly don't know why people play single player games. Haven't played a good one in over 10 years.

Internet sometimes goes out so practice until its back up

Ice cream? I love Ice cream!

how's life in zimbabwe otherwise?
I like rimworld

Bots help out map creators greatly, without bot support, most maps require weeks if not months of testing alone.

Secondly, they're good for filling slots, if your game is 12v12, its nicer to have 12 'players' on each side.

Also it gives newbies a way to practice as many multiplayer FPS games have no real campaign, like counterstrike.

condition zero had a great single player campaign ;)

I understand the function of bots as replacements in multiplayer games. I'm asking why do people play single player FPS campaigns, when they feel like shooting bots (=not very fun).

To avoid dribbling spastics like you?

have you ever played half-life 2?

yes when it was new
if you don't want to play multiplayer, why are you playing an FPS game? there are other single player genres

why are you playing against bots in a multiplayer only game?

that game gives you the answer. progressing through developed environments that convey detail and narrative. solving puzzles. you don't have experiences like waking up in an alien occupied city or running away from the helicopter in an airboat in multiplayer

>people unironically masturbate instead of have sex
lmao wtf, sex is a multiplayer game retards
whacking off by yourself is no different than playing against a bot

I don't, that's the point
The plot of that game is about as complicated as a saturday morning cartoon, and the shooting is... well it's like playing against bots.
>you don't have experiences like waking up in an alien occupied city or running away from the helicopter in an airboat in multiplayer
I've had much more memorable and immersive moments in multiplayer Arma, Squad, hell even GTA5.

>explain this

sorry, I own the whole series but I never got around to it.
reminds me about my experience with metro 2033 though. great environment, amazing potential... gameplay is boring as fuck. I'd rather read the book than finish that game.

Don't have to deal with autists.

>thinking a story has to be complex to be good
>multiplayer is immersive
pleb

Then play cs:go or some shit like that. I'd rather read a book than play that shit.

>multiplayer isn't immersive
maybe you should play better games

>he's using "rather read a book" like reading is a punishment
AYYY LMAO let me guess, american?

AYAY ELMAYONESE whoever it was started it. I like reading books.

metro 2033 actually is a book. the point was everything good about that game, the setting, atmosphere etc. is from the book. the weakest link by far is the gameplay, the interactive bits that being a video game allows for. it would be a better experience without that -> I'd rather read the book.

there is no CS:GO the book.

how can you be immersed in a setting when you have to listen to faggots in voicechat and see corpses getting teabagged? all of that takes you out of the experience and reinforces that you are playing a game.

>never got around to it
explains why you think it plays anything like metro

Old FPS games were usually made more akin to a platformer with enemies, first person style. Imagine first person Mario.

>multiplayer

You can have a variety of enemy types of level designs that wouldn't work in a deathmatch scenario. Singleplayer is asymmetrically balanced while multiplayer gives everyone a equal playing field.

>GTA 5 online
>good
opinion discarded

Fuck if I want to read about people from the sewers from russian author you american scum.

>never played it but I'll give you my opinion anyway

>I only play fps games with human enemies with hitscan weapon and no movement mechanics

Do you take you pizza plain?

>multiplayer is halo on xbox live
a 60 minute game of Squad is far more immersive than any single player campaign I've ever played. real people communicating, working together, playing against another team of organized, communicating squad.

I still have fond memories from back when GTAO launched. one time I teamed up with these american strangers and I was a far superior player, just carrying them through co-op. my mic was busted so I had to play mute, and my character was a girl so they called me miley cyrus.

anyway they entered this mission I knew to be too difficult so I just bolted and went to get my chopper (this was like day 2 of GTAO, choppers were extremely rare). I heard over the voice chat how they were being slaughered and asking "where the fuck is miley cyrus". they got to the objective but were cornered in the back yard of the factory about to lose the mission when out of nowhere (for them) I arrived with the chopper, landed right behind them, they all jumped in in the nick of time and I was able to keep the chopper from exploding while carrying them to safety, skipping the hardest part of the mission. everyone celebrated like crazy and added me to their friends list, we played a lot after that too.

you don't get these organic immersive thrilling experiences in single player. it's like "oh I guess they want me to do this now, now I have to kill some bots. I guess I have to go here now".

Why would you want to mess around in a sandbox that attempt me to simulate bustling urban environments when you could just use the map to play generic deathmatch with shitty euphoria controls?

Why are you so pretentious?

notice how I said "even GTA5". I got bored of that game pretty quickly for reasons you're probably aware of
I gave my opinion of metro 2033, a game I played
I know it's not similiar, I was just reminded of it because of the theme

Because he lacks the ability to attribute mental states—beliefs, intents, desires, pretending, knowledge, etc.—to oneself, and to others, and to understand that others have beliefs, desires, intentions, and perspectives that are different from one's own.

bunny hopping is a mechanic and nothing beats a pepperoni pizza. I bet you order yours with 8 different toppings. simplicity is beautiful.

...

>I got bored of that game pretty quickly for reasons you're probably aware of
No fucking shit I'm not aware of them; I'm not a god damn mind reader, retard.

it appears you're also not capable of reading comprehension

fuck you, I'm drunk

You just proved that you are a weaker person that me.

FUCK OFF QUENTIN

Its like you want to have no fun.

good guy

>GTA V
>Bustling

You are just outright lying or have lived in the back of a farmhouse our entire life.

>brainlet starts the thread of with a crappy basic game which has some rudimentary bots
le_dust 2 in 2018, truly the patrician taste to surpass all in gaming

there are some single player games I find fun. off the top of my head semi recent single player games I enjoyed:
olliolli2
rimworld
factorio
cities skylines
tropico 4
wasteland 2
pillars of eternity
stardew valley
darkest dungeon
furi
INSIDE

the thing is, these are games designed around single player mechanics. FPS campaigns are like "hey you like shooters, well here's a far inferior alternative"

that's the point and you call me a brainlet

try Strife. not the steam version, just get the DOS version and use ZDoom.

I'm guessing you're not referring to this MOBA?

Maybe because some people like having a narrative and immersive story while shooting. Never mind that the gameplay of single player shooters is completely different then a multiplayer one.

The examples people have posted are already enough

>metro 2033
>Halo
>Stalker
>Doom
>Wolfenstein

I could take any of the examples you posted and say they would be better in multiplayer.

>Pillars of eternity should just be player vs player since story obviously doesnt matter like in shooters

>Darkest dungeon should just be your team vs another player team. Its like you want to fight EZ bots

no. I wasn't even aware there's a MOBA with that name.

like I already said, the shooting (and all gameplay) was by far the weakest aspect of metro 2033. wolfenstein too, I liked the setting and the cutscenes (I'm talking about the new order) but every time I had to play it it was like "oh, another chore before the story progresses". I guess if I had never experience a multiplayer shooter they could be fine, but as is they just feel like shooting dumb bots, like a warmup shooting gallery you play before the real thing.
>Pillars of eternity should just be player vs player since story obviously doesnt matter like in shooters
pillars of eternity is 90% about reading text and 10% about the gameplay. which in that game isn't bad either. wolfenstein and metro are like 90% shooting, 10% story even though the shooting's the weak part.
>Darkest dungeon should just be your team vs another player team. Its like you want to fight EZ bots
imagine if that game had an online mode where another player would play as a "dungeon master" of some sort though. that shit would be "fire" like the kids say.

seems interesting
