Why is the job and equipment system so shit in Final fantasy 12?
>have to buy abilities
>also have to unlock abilities
>have to buy license to be able to use certain weapons and armor
Why is the job and equipment system so shit in Final fantasy 12?
>have to buy abilities
>also have to unlock abilities
>have to buy license to be able to use certain weapons and armor
Just a different spin to the typical get levels and buy skills shit whats the problem
>you have to unlock abilities in a RPG reeeeeeeeeee wtf
you don't say
Is FFXII one of the most discussed FF on Sup Forums? It just shows they must have done something right.
Not a SINGLE complaint you made is bad.
>most discussed FF
That is FFVII
the license board is the shit and you should feel bad for having bad taste
Hastega/Slowga for my machinist/white or Arise/Dispelga for monk/knight?
crack when
Tifa, Yuffie, Aeris threads don't count.
I'm a retard, I made Penelo an archer at the beginning, then I made Fran an archer. Now I'm stuck with 2 useless archers
>That is FFVII
nobody actually discusses the game though. just waifu bait shit or how much the remake is going to suck
when FFXII gets talked about, its almost always about gameplay mechanics and such.
I agree OP
it's just one barrier too much and it sucks the fun out of gaining new abilities and actions. I also have no idea why ZA is supposedly better because it locks most characters into a role for most of the playthrough instead of giving you more options like the vanilla release
Did they tone down the terrible low RNG item spawns/drops in the Zodiac remaster? grinding to get some of those weapons felt like playing a bad MMO.
>instead of giving you more options
I think it's to "streamline" the game and make it more simple for the casual audience.
>The absolute state of nu-gamers
>unlock Blizaga on the job board
>can't use it until I buy Blizaga at a store that sells it
It's not the best system.
You did fuck up. Give at least one of them the burning bow and have someone cast oil on enemies.
locking characters into whatever board you chose at the start of the game was a mistake but once you understand what each class offers party building becomes a lot of fun
always keep multiple saves but it's not that bad anyways, in the original izjs you could only chose 1 job per character and it was pretty easy. Chose jobs with low swiftness like knight and red mage as pairs so at least the archer side contributes something
That said, bows are pretty good since you'll find OP bows all the time throught the story and the best bow one of the easiest weapons to get
Somewhat.
>Wtf why do I have to grow and learn with my characters, where are my lootboxes and dumbed down gameplay, I'm going back to kikewatch
It's not that strange. XII has the most mature story out of the FF:s, which aligns better with the board demographic.
It also one of the higher difficulty ones, which means mechanics actually matter (I'd say it's a toss up between FF, FFIV and XII which is the hardest out of the games with actual functional mechanics).
sadly no, autosave between zones helps a lot with that so enjoy your 5% steal chance grind
>most mature story
>literally star wars
i think it works better in the original release, at least there you had more freedom to build your party how you want. otherwise i think its fine, i prefer it to normal FFs lackluster "level up, automatically get skill" systems, that shit was so boring and retarded
chinese cant into mmorpg. it always ends up getting outsourced to korea and becomes a clone of existing ones. they all suck. name one chinese mmorpg that does not suck.
>>It also one of the higher difficulty ones
calling bullshit on that, the extra content might be hard but the story is piss easy up until the undying, 1hit kill with 100% hit chance, what were they thinking?
>1hit kill with 100% hit chance
Git gud
Well the game has a literal no exp mode.
But yes, even without that, XII is one of the few final fantasies that actually requires a bit of system mastery.
That doesn't mean I imply that XII is "the dark souls of RPG:s". It's more that the FF games overall tend to have a very low difficulty. Preteen Kids spamming their best magic spells can get through most FF games without many problems.
I also forgot to mention FFT among the difficult FF games.
It was just when he became immune to physical attacks so I had to use the grills and they had fuck all HP, in the end I got him without using bubble but he was quite a surprise since everything up until him (including the rest of the combat) was piss easy
I went straight for the ending right after pharos btw
what about the original ff4? That one had plenty of bullshit encounters
Only real thing that annoys me about the games system is that you have to find most of the good technicks or whatever they're called.
I know it encourages exploration but having to explore every crevice of every dungeon just so you don't overlook some crucial ability isn't fun.
Doesn't help that all the treasure chests look the same so you can't tell whether you're gonna get 10 gil or meteor.
Yeah I already mentioned FFIV. That game can be genuinly bullshit.
Incidentally same system designer as XII.
I don't mind exploring dungeons to find good skills. What I DO mind is when chests with good skills aren't guaranteed to spawn. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to make break technicks only have a 10% spawn chance? Half of them are already in tough endgame areas as it is. TZA's autosaves at least let you get around BS equipment spawns using Trial mode.
>REEEEEE Why do I have to learn the game instead of going to gamefaqs and reading about le epic optimal strats
I don't understand your reply. Most of 12's mechanics are obscure and aren't explained by the game itself, so you would actually need a guide to learn how certain things work.
It does seem like a bit of a worse version of the Sphere Grid, but then again it's been too long since I played X so I can't say for absolute certain. I don't hate the system in this, although I can only imagine that the base game was much worse without the job system.
But I don't like what they did to chests in this game, although at least the Zodiac Spear nonsense is gone.
Why would the Archadian government let you use powerful weapons without a license to use them?
Its not just Star Wars though
muh second amendment
>Can I use Excalibur?
>No, get a license.
>I just killed 150 of your soldiers. Can I use it noooow?
>Yeah sure go ahead idc.
>Why the fuck do I have to learn, this is bullshit overwatch is way better
Well, you did prove you're experienced enough to be able to handle stronger weapons and that you have experience in combat.
Not him, but the game COULD explain more to the player and/or not RNG certain things
What exactly does FFXII not explain to the player? What exactly is there to explain even, the game's simplistic af.
>Nu-gamers
Go back to your cuck switch soyboy, bing bings are waiting
It would be a lot more interesting for everyone, yourself included, if you could engage in a debate, rather than throwing out buzzwords.
>Soyboys deserved to be listened to
?
It's one idiot trolling
The only idiot here is the people who think XII should hand you over everything and implement lootboxes
How different weapon damage is calculated via different stats
How certain weapons have elemental affinities but don't tell you
Bazaar items are hinted at in the bestiary but poorly
