Why?

If Sylux is in it I will

Depends on how it looks and plays. The concept of Federation Force was interesting, but everything around it was just bad all around.

I am very worried about Retro not having a hand in it and a Japanese company creating a FPS game generally does not turn out well most of the time, so there is that.

Only if it's terrible

I won't, 3D Metroid is shit

I hope it's going to be a tech demo showing what sorts of graphics the handheld is capable of

though it better be 60fps native resolution

The lack of information, as well as the idea of a Japanese dev making an FPS and tanabe getting to make another federation force, definitely don't inspire confidence. But even the worst game in the trilogy, Corruption, was a great game and Samus Returns being good shows there's hope. They seriously just need to fucking show some gameplay already.

I'm speculating that they won't innovate at all, for the better or for the worse

I'll pirate it. Switch jailbreak soon

The initial rumors of a desolate prime-style world and a time travel mechanic of some kind make it sound like they're returning to roots. If it's like Echoes it'll be excellent.

because you can hack it youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=OOwkcAx1ITA

>Not developed by Retro
Picked up. Might mean that there's no endgame fetchquest.

hope it's not one of those botw style sandbox things though with their 1000 korok seeds

Of course not. First of all, I'm not wasting money on another fucking Nintendo console after the Wii U. Second, the developer is fucking garbage.

Considering it’s “Prime 4” and not some mysterious Metroid title, I think they’ll likely stick pretty close to what the previous games were.

I’m gonna book release day off work so I can play it what are you talking about?

Probably not, I don't care for shitty shooter Metroid.

Plus all the Primefags boasted about pirating SM so I'll eventually pirate P4 too.

>though it better be 60fps native resolution
If mario couldn't do it without an aggressive draw distance and checkerboarding, it's not gonna happen.

im gonna buy a copy for every "no" or "soy" joke in this thread. they will understand

If Nintendo weren't intentionally trying to make a bad game out of spite for fans not wanting utter garbage like Federation Force and Other M, I would absolutely buy it. But this isn't going to be a Metroid Prime game. Retro isn't making it and they've literally handed it to a third party shovelware team. How can I have confidence in a project they clearly want to fail from the start?

yeah, unless it's going to be a corridor shooter

odyssey seems a bit incompetent in some ways though, for instance in donk city the NPC's don't even match with the ones in the distance so they fade away in very weird way instead of being mapped to each other, dunno if I'm explaining it right but you know what I mean if you've seen donk city

That's what people thought about Retro when the first game was revealed. Don't forget Mercury Stream was a shitty developer before SR, too. When Nintendo steps in to ensure a team is making a good game, it gets made, see Metroid Prime and Samus Returns. When Nintendo blindly trusts its senior directors to make a good game it's shit, see Other M and Federation Force.

If its like echoes and a third of its game taking place in acid air then the game will be shit.

I would like to believe you, but they handed this shit off to Namco-Bandai. Come on man, there's no chance this goes well.

>Tanabe in charge
>confirmed "multiplayer focus"

You're right, I'm not.

Waiting for Metroid V instead.

Yeah because I'm probably never going to buy a Switch.

Only time will tell.

I wont buy a console for it if that is what you are asking, I actually did buy two wii's for the earlier prime games (one for 3 and Twilight Princess which I later sold, then another when Trilogy was released).
If it turns out to be properly good I might consider it.

>confirmed "multiplayer focus"
wanna provide a source for that bud?

Op, why are telling people what not to buy?

This is now a therapy session

Mercury Stream handle the Castlevania franchise through, sure the games were really average, but they had at least good understanding of the series, sci-fi elements, and monster design.

I don't want another fucking Gundam inspired Metroid Game, I want a fucking Metroid game clearly inspired by Western Sci-Fi like the originals were.

Yes, Metroid was inspired by Alien.

Posts like this are why the Metroid fanbase is the fucking worst sometimes.

If they didn't have confidence, they wouldn't have announced it so early. They wouldn't be making it. They wouldn't be making a metroid period. Lol, you don't just up and make a mainline metroid.

What a retard

>MUH RETRO
Prime devs left long ago

>they've literally handed it to a third party shovelware team. How can I have confidence in a project they clearly want to fail from the start?
the exact same thing people were saying about metroid prime 1 back in 2001

and whats so bad about bamco?

they're just trying to rope in the gen z with the call of duty gameplay. samus returns and amr2 were simply the better games.

AM2R was shit

and better than prime games

u wot m8

I'm gonna buy the Switch just for it.

There’s a reason Metroid Prime 1 is still considered the better game, it was heavily handled by Nintendo themselves for Retro Studios

The game is gonna be fine, it’s an adventure shooter, not Battlefield

Yeah just look at the last Prime game that came out a few years ago. It'll be fine.

>Tanabe making Fedforce

There’s literally nothing wrong with that game if it wasn’t NLG making the assets
The graphics design overall was where the shitposting came from

It was pretty enjoyable. Any faults attributable to it stemmed from the original game, which it was a remake of.

Don’t kid yourself, Fedforce was fine outside the artstyle

I guess the shitty music, boss fights and animations of AM2R are all because of the original. Yep.

I purchase every Nintendo exclusive no questions ask. Why? Because the company has earned my trust and respect. They can count on me to be loyal because I can count on them to produce every single game with more heart than all the narrative driven bullshit out of PlayStation. When Miyamoto tell me, "hey, this is just fun", I feel a tingle throughout body from my head to my toes. I'm excited. I get just a little bit of a stiffy if I'm being honest. I know I can believe in this guy, this legend. I know I'm going to have a fantastic video game in my hands. You think I get the same sensation when Bonnie Ross or that nu-white male from PlayStation gets out on stage and tries to peddle me the same game for the dozenth time? No, obviously not. Those companies could never hope to attain what Nintendo has: infinite good will. They earned it. It's as simple as that. Whether it be Labo, Metroid 4 or what have you, count me in.

I'll buy it if it looks like it plays great great, and appears sufficiently fresh design wise.

I bought the first three games seperately AND the trilogy, but I did feel like the formula had been worn thin by the end.

>boss fights
Yes, 100%.
>shitty music
>I remastered every track, and some songs sound a lot better with minor changes.
Yes.

>animations
I didn't see anything wrong with them. Have you played 2D metroids before?

But the worst game was Echoes

nice copypasta

Is this pasta?

Echoes had weird pacing and a bit of backtracking, it's still better than 3 though.

If by weird you mean fucking horrible.

>Emphasis on multiplayer
>Developed by shovelware dev Bamco
>COD gameplay to rope in the Gen Z(JW) crowd
>Directed by Tanabe
Metroid Prime Sticker St4r was prime boycott material for us to begin with.

And almost everyone ITT shares the same sentiment.

I'm going to buy the collector's edition, let's be honest they are going to make one.

>>Tanabe in charge
If this is true I'm not interested. He's already killed Paper Mario and buried it 6 feet under, I'm not sticking around to see the same happen to Metroid. I haven't touched a Metroid game since Prime 3, and even though I enjoyed it it was still easily the weakest of the 3 Prime games.

I don't like the 3 big areas being connected by a hub that you keep having to go back and forth through. But it is better than prime 3 where they just threw level and world design out the window altogether and made a bunch of separate linear areas that you had to fly between.

What does Tanabe have to do with Paper Mario?

I bought trilogy on Wii U a while back when it was announced, just waiting on footage of 4 to actually be shown to push me to start playing through them so I can get ready for 4

Tanabe as already part of the Metroid team with Sakamoto

The issue was making him run Paper Mario when he barely knew shit about it

His incompetence made Sticker Star and Color Splash despite Miyamoto telling him he can keep the RPG system

Tanabe has nothing to do with the main Metroid series. He deals with the Prime spin off series and Chibi Robo/Donkey Kong

I've bought every single one before it, why wouldn't I get this one?
I mean, if they show gameplay and it looks like shit, then of course I won't, but the other 3 were fantastic. Even if they just copied the mechanics from Prime 1 and pasted them in a new world I'd be satisfied, I don't think they can ruin it,

Federation Force would have been amazing with actual prime art style and a proper sense of scale. There is nothing in that game to suggest you're in a giant mech fighting elite pirates and huge aliens in a hostile environment and not a cartoon astronaut waddling around with shit in his diaper. The hideous art style and sound design of fed force make me really worried about prime 4, the art direction and music is the best part of the trilogy.

Samus Returns already proved that prime is canon to the main series, shitposter.

Abysmal taste.

Metroid Prime series has always been 60fps, the rendering engine is very clever in that anything behind doors is barely in memory, so the only things being rendered at any given time are the rooms you’re in. When you enter a new area it’s quickly rendered and the door opening is the loading transition

If Prime4 goes openworld meme, you can kiss that silky smooth frame rate goodbye.

>the rendering engine is very clever in that anything behind doors is barely in memory, so the only things being rendered at any given time are the rooms you’re in.

You mean like literally every other game?

Yup, I'm going to ignore this and wait for Metroid 5 instead.

As long as its been since the OG trilogy, I can guarantee that Prime 4 will be very, very different from the trilogy.

Rumors of bamco developing it, a multiplayer focus, and much more FPS-like gameplay are muddying matters, although I've no idea how credible any of them are so try not to take them into account for now

This

>People forgetting Tanabe was part of the Metroid series before Sticker Star

>Shitting on him because he wants development for Sylux and Federation

>Pretend last Prime games were Samus sidelining other stories to begin with

Man you 2D fags are really going out

nowadays yes. It was a bit less common back in '02.

Agreed, all of these things are making me look the other way
>Tanabe wants Sylux, Federation vs Space Pirates, the Avengers kind of story
>Tanabe doesn't want Chozo or Ridley
>Bandai Namco Japan Studios making the game
>game will have online multiplayer
Too many red flags for me to give a shit.

This

Well then you get the same question as him about where you'd have heard anything about it being multiplayer focused.

Where's any of this coming from? Anywhere reliable?

Go save the metroid series

no the prime series was always a little silly, because they created all new lore, and did the typical poorly thought out shit where 'prime created phazon and phazon created prime'

it was an impressive bit of work visually, the gameplay was as good as a handheld controller could realistically manage

but each one was worse than the one before it, and if 4 is also using a handheld controller, it has little chance of being worth playing
