Pc will replace consoles
Gaming laptops will replace desktops, desktops will be seen as the contrarian choice
In the very far future phones in docks got keyboard, mouse and monitor will replace gaming laptops

Phones won't ever replace dedicated video game systems. To do that it would need a ton of completely GOOD exclusive games and phones are too open of a platform for anyone to just release their good games on it.

The exclusives meme only applies to bingbing and pc. The PS4/Xbox are overwhelmingly multiplatform machines going by the best sellers.

Consoles replace phones.

No because the phone manufacturers insist on running garbage OS on their phones. No matter how fast the phone hardware is (there are plenty of phones faster than Nintendo Switch) it still is way too unresponsive for gaming purposes. Not to mention that phone game devs don't have any decent APIs and developing AAA games for phones is not financially viable since phone users don't want to pay for games.

Why would that happen though?

The 2 devices 99 percent of people own are a smartphone and a computer, even if it's crap. Regardless of gaming everyone still needs these.


Smartphone can't be replaced with anything, however pc could be replaced with a phone dock hence why it will go.

It's sad. Smartphones have so much potential to be serious gaming platforms, but devs will only ever make gacha/pay2win games since they're a lot more profitable and easier to make than full fledged traditional games.

There is a reason while consoles exists:
1. They are optimised for games (even when the power looks poor, the archticture is the key here).
2. Easy extra money for companies.
3. Minimal distraction from the game, Battery, controls, and other stuff, which would prevent you from playing at all
