Glorious CRT Chad Master Race Dirty LCD Virgin Peasant
Daily reminder that CRT is the best display technology and that gaming experience is superior because: >0 ms response time >no blur >can use any resolution you want without any quality loss >superior aspect ratio >true black color >no flickering >easier to achieve higher refresh rates >longer lifespan and no dead/stuck pixels >cheaper
Elijah Peterson
Unless you play Melee you can literally get a good BenQ or IPS 144hz monitor that shits on old CRT's.
Michael Harris
Where can i get a large one?
Jeremiah Stewart
ebay
Jeremiah Walker
I still prefer my OLED.
Jacob Myers
I have a CRT that I use only for playing Thief. Maximum comfy.
Xavier Harris
what is considered the best CRT
looking to get a new one since the one I have has no rgb
Oliver Moore
I remember getting a LCD monitor for the first time back in 2000 (it still works believe it or not) and the difference in sharpness was astounding. I had no idea how "soft" the image on a CRT was until then.
Brayden Barnes
I do miss my old 21 inch Flat screen ( the glass was flat ) CRT. Had five coaxial inputs for HD and weighed in at about 30kg. That was a good screen.
Owen Brown
I still prefer the good ol' old tube tv.
Leo Price
Sony GDM-F520 and Iiyama Pro514
But they are expensive as fuck
Adrian Rogers
I was surprised to find out I can still hear the 15khz CRT whine last time I dug mine out. My hearing isn't great so I thought that'd be gone for sure.
Jeremiah Ward
you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, but that's to be expected from a brainlet Nintendicksucker.
Zachary Young
wow I have a benq. The colors arent the best.
James Foster
>I have this monitor It's pretty nice.
Jayden Turner
came across a cheap FW900 a couple of years ago, lucky.
System Shock 2 and other games originally created with CRT's high contrast in mind look excellent. Usually I use 1440x900 120hz for these.
thank god there are finally good high bandwidth VGA converters available, and also for cheap. Can't be stuck on this Maxwell card with it's DVI-I for much longer
John Cox
>using converters with CRTs The added lag removes the only inarguable benefit they have.
Adrian Howard
What are you some kind of luddite? LCD monitors in 2018 make the best CRTs look like the pure garbage they were. 10 years ago this wasn't the case and you were right, but that was 10 years ago.
Tyler Adams
It's called "cathode ray tube", CRT, get it?
Brandon Cook
modern cards don't have analog out, no other choice. You could keep a card around for older games I guess
Cameron Peterson
I bet you never had one of those. It was pure shit
Blake Taylor
it kinda sounds like the op has one, he might even enjoy it over LCDs.
Matthew Edwards
I do not need a particle accelerator to play games, thanks
Easton Diaz
More like chadthode ray tube No it's not Yes i do, i have 5 of them.
Camden Brooks
>not wanting a fucking space-age technology what are you, queer?
Jaxon Murphy
>crts are great >take up most of the table
I keep mine around for nostalgia, and for my Windows 98 gaming machine, but I think I'll keep my LCD screens.
Bentley Roberts
CRTs look actually quite great, I used a huge Iiyama monitor for many years that I'd picked up for cheap when people started converting to LCDs. I was not satisfied with the quality of consumer-grade LCD monitors back then, but a few years ago, I gave in and bought a big LG IPS, and it's been serving really well. Bigger screen, 16:9 aspect ratio, doesn't take up most of my desk or weigh 20+ kilos. If you're a HC retro enthusiast, you might want to consider a CRT, otherwise, I don't see their appeal nowadays.
Aaron White
The cathode ray tube (CRT) is a vacuum tube that contains one or more electron guns and a phosphorescent screen, and is used to display images.[1] It modulates, accelerates, and deflects electron beam(s) onto the screen to create the images.
because you say so
Nolan Long
hey I bought one of those in 2006 and used up until a few years ago.
I prefer my U2414H. While the blacks aren't as nice, I don't have to fuck around with geometry settings nor do I feel like my face is melting from sitting in front of it for hours. CRT's are fucking ovens.
Jaxson Lee
>no good analog outputs on modern cards and the overwhelmingly vast majority of digital-to-VGA converters suck balls
Same here, playing those old games on period-correct hardware running a nice CRT tickles my nostalgia bone way better than a modern setup running Dosbox ever will, so I'm keeping that little bastard around. My main PC is still going to use two LCDs though, the CRT advantages just aren't relevant most of the time while the downsides will be a pain in the dick basically all of the time.
