So now that the rust has settled and been burnt to a crisp before shit like the movie that I think is still coming, what's the consensus on this franchise, the gameplay it toted, and the story it had to tell?
Curious to hear from the people here who would've been around to play the first game when it first came out and what they think of how the whole thing apparently ends.

Well, i can at least respect him, he had some VERY GOOD design skill and can make some pretty good mecha.
It presented an interesting and original twist for horror games in my opinion, but the main problem is, the game(s) get old after a while because every jumpscare is just a 2 seconds screamer and, once you memorize them all, it loses all of its charm compared to the first time you played it and becomes annoying instead. 2 was where the games peaked due to more animatronics, mechanics, and a bigger sense of fear compared to the rest. 3 was shit and 4 was alright.

The first one was okay. The second one was kinda "meh," but alright. 3 had some neat ideas, but didn't entirely capitalize on them right. Then it kinda just fell off from there.
One thing that disappointed me was its method of providing story/lore. Not to say that I mind the idea of uncovering bits of information, eventually finding either direct connections or enough information for reasonable connections. The problem is that such a method of providing story doesn't really work in a game like fnaf. It's quite "rigid," let's say, in comparison to a game wherein one can explore or interact more. It's very heavily grounded and tied to its gameplay, which simply can't allow for the giving and discovery of information to go smoothly. It basically boils down to "oh there's a little thing here in this spot that most people didn't look" (this one is kinda okay, honestly, there's just not much of it,), "oh there's a secret thing here that spits out whatever info" like the fucking 3-panel code in fnaf 3, or the lame atari bits between nights. What's worse is that the last two became quite prevalent in 2 and then pretty much became the entire basis of giving story after that. Couldn't be helped, though. Can't really blame Scott, but it still sucks.

I genuinely like the first 4 games. They're fun because of how stressful they are and really test your multitasking abilities. (especially FNAF2)
I didn't like when the story became the focus in Sister Location and I didn't really like Pizzeria Simulator because both the simulator aspect and the night system felt under developed. I think focusing on either of them would've been better for the final game.

1st game was good because of the jarring early 90's CGI that was effectively terrifying (at least to me) and fairly original yet simple gameplay along with great atmosphere
it quickly went downhill however... you can make a case for FNAF 4.
Christ, the animatronics at 4 have their nightmarish tittle well earned, the little eyes and over abundance of sharp teeth really makes for some beastly look

Lost it's steam after the reveal that the animatronics were the good guys all along.
The series was at its creepiest in the first game with the original explanation that they thought you were an exoskeleton that should be in a suit. About the only new idea I liked after that was Circus Baby, mostly due to the excellent work her VA put in.
Nu-springtrap looks retarted. On the other hand original springtrap is the best design in the series.

The problem was that the series lost all sense of ambiguity. The first game gave the explanation of killer robots and hallucinations, but as people found more easter eggs, the murderers were found and the possibility of hauntings became more and more likely. Later games became all about those murders, to the point where FNAF1 is literally the least important game in the entire series canon.
Scott has always done stuff like that. After Fnafworld was a trainwreck, he updated the game to fix it's problems, made it free, and refunded everyone's purchase.
