How the hell did Capcom fuck this up so bad? Game is less than 6 months old and already dead in a genre where games usually get community support for about 5 years. X deserved better than this.

This. Capcom made the game without permission from Marvel, so when it came time to release the game, they had to go back and edit out the FOX owned X-Men.

Because the roster is smaller and less interesting than that of UMvC3 and it was made clear to potential players that many of their favorites wouldn't be making it back because of Disneymarvel's feud with Fox.

Graphics are ugly.
Character models are inconsistent in quality.
Too much effects/particles everywhere for spectating.
Story mode was bad including the short AI combat.
Small Roster.
Lacks original characters.
Lacks old popular characters (ie. X-men)
MCU original characters are DLC.
Gem system is a mixed bag regarding balance, effects and how it functions as a "comeback/lockout" system.

I have a hard time believing that there can be drones for a company like this.

Capcom thought they could get away with a shit job, they believed the FGC and the esports scene would carry the game for them just because it’s Marvel. They wanted max profits out of low investment, and their arrogance bit them in the ass.

The game may have broken even due to how low the budget was, but in exchange Capcom ran the game so hard into the ground it might as well have killed the entire series for good.
