Yume Nikki Dream Diary

It's fucking out, how do you like it so far?

It's spoopy

...

I'll tell you after I confirm that the TPB torrent is safe

Is it worth $20?

It's a Yume Nikki themed cinematic platformer with some decent atmosphere and music but nonexistent exploration and completely different gameplay overall.

Anyone got any screenshots?

Is it a fan game or just Yume Nikki in 3D?

Let us know, user.

Does it at least seem as vast as the original in terms of levels?

Neither, it doesn't play anything like Yume Nikki

Disappointed as fuck and probably going to refund. I can't even enjoy it for what it is because my disappointment is fucking immesurable.

How long until we get SFM porn with Madotsuki's model?

So it's a fan game then.

It's one of those cases where it's not a bad game just a bad X game isn't it?

but the model sucks, she looks like a boy, why couldn't we have gotten qt mado

That's pretty vague.

Why?

>fapping to YN characters
I don't know how you guys can do it, it feels hella weird to me.

In case people are wondering how to 'progress' you need to go back to areas you've cleared

My initial assessment is no. There are only six doors in the nexus and four of them lead to tiny areas directly connected to each other, and once you're done with one area there's seemingly no reason to return. World design is incredibly disappointing.

I hope you like puzzles because those are the main barriers to progressing deeper into the dream.

I like that it isn't just a 3D remake, but actually offers gameplay. Do not mind playing me some Madotsuki Odyssey.

Game confirmed to be Unity now someone plz make Madotsuki into an avatar for VRchat so I can live out my fantasies

so do you think this guy will just be a background cameo or a whole gameplay section?

When you say fan games I think of .flow and Yume 2kki, games that are much closer to the gameplay of Yume Nikki than this.

I could beat deacribe this as a spinoff game

It isn't a surreal exploration game which is what I wanted. Instead, it's a horror platformer game that plays like little nightmares or limbo or something. It focuses on horror and exploration and the like is gone entirely.

That's up in the air. It has some charm in it's own rights, but it has a LOT of issues. They tried to game-ify it much more, take that however you will. The game is about puzzles and platforming now, not just wandering weird ass dreamscapes. On one hand, I hated the endlessly looping voids in the original and this doesn't have that. On the other hand, as more of a game, this is losing me as the gameplay itself isn't particularly fun. I played for a little over an hour and it felt like 3 hours. There's also a very stark contrast between the original content and the new content. The mannequins scene felt strait out of pretty much 3 other horror games I can think of. I admit the slowly opening gate while trying to dodge them had me on edge a bit, but it's just such a distinctly different feeling game at that point inbetween running into the weird blobs that are the things from the original.

It doesn't play anything like the original. It's closer to Inside or Limbo. The original game was focused on exploration, with a few spoops but mostly lighthearted surrealism.
This thing is trying to be a horror game, with trial and error puzzle segments and dodging enemies. The tone and gameplay are completely different.

They made it into a literal loli walking simulator. Yes I like it.

Fuck, the OST is actually good

>why couldn't we have gotten qt mado
Could be worse, at least it's not just generic anime trash.

is aztec rave monkey in the game

What's the news, brother?

...

I have a shit laptop, how intensive is this game?

I'm enjoying the music a lot, worth it just for that.

Torrent where?

What the FUCK, Uboa is relegated to a 2 second jumpscare, it doesn't even teleport you, you just wake up

I just finished downloading the iso. I will test it in a VM so it will take some time

Hows the save theme?

youtube.com/watch?v=Oox3T0mP9Yk

bretty gud

it's mediocre.

DLC

i already installed the CODEX release a half hour ago. it's completely fine

I don't know, but I fucking love those ps1 cutscene graphics. This is probably the most tasteful game in a while.

>not supporting kikiyama
scum

And you guys wonder why console games stay on consoles.

109 minutes in. While I don't dislike it. I'm not feeling the 20usd is worth it at all. I'm on the fence of keeping it or refunding it

Oh, and to add to this a little bit, almost every part of the game feels extremely amateurishly made. The original did as well of course, but it's so much more glaring now that it's 3d and trying to look professional rather than just keeping it abstract pixel art. Bad animations, wonky physics, but more subtle things too like sound balance way over emphasizing footsteps and not particularly using sound really well at all, some very forgiving game design to the point where nothing feels actually threatening, and mentioning this again, a clash of art that just really does not seem intentional.

...

no, now the music is just playing on a boombox in the same location

Really? That's disappointing

>Piano Arrangement
thats some good shit, thanks user

Did you make these webms? How about a couple showing the gameplay.

Is Poniko's Room and Light Out in it?
Is Poniko in it at all

>People thought the presentation would be terrible
>It's actually the best part of an otherwise mediocre experience

What an odd string of events.

i'm sorry, the job market sucks where i live and for right now i need to hold onto whatever shekles i have

How does NASU play in this?

Damn I have like 20 items and none of them do anything
There's a door in the spooky mannequin room anyone know how to get in

What the fuck is this gay platforming shit

At least pretend that you're not pirating the game ffs.

...

VM fag, can confirm.
Also it's a nice detail that the game has multiple language support

I too live in small-town America and it's not going to get better. Don't let these people try and guilt you into spending what little money you have on shit you don't need.

if its the dauphong its more than likely safe. he doesn't have an impeccable record but i've downloaded hundreds of his torrents fine.

>giving a shit
Just pirate it, if you want to you can buy the game later to support the devs. When it comes to piracy the only one who can punish you is your own consciousness.

I haven't played it yet but before I do help me set a more detailed mindset for minimum disappointment

If you approach this purely as a fan game or tribute does that make it a little easier to swallow? Or is it just entirely shit even with the kindest excuses

It's limbo with yume nikki PRETTY MUCH

Do you actually need a decent PC to play this? I don't have a real PC and the most technically intensive PC game I've ever played is probably Amnesia the Dark Descent.

If you're open for a completely different thing, then the price is the only thing that will hurt you. Probably. It goes from ok to it's alright I guess

#notMYゆめにっき

based on posts from the last thread of people who had played it, there's a lot of questionable decisions and even looking at it from a standpoint of being a fangame it's just kind of mediocre
the presentation, which people thought would be the worst part based on the art style, is actually the best part and there are some great nods to stuff from the original
but the gameplay is this odd, linear platforming and puzzle solving with trial and error tactics, and if you mess up you just get pushed back a little bit, you don't really suffer any real punishment because I guess they figured what happens in the original when you got caught wasn't fun
but it's also just really linear, there's not this feeling of interconnectedness like in the original, once you go into one of the doors you can't leave until you wake up

To me, it feels like this: An amateurishly made limbo/inside featuring kinda Yume Nikki themed levels and about 30% completely original creations that feels outta random horror tropes like weeping angels and slenderman. Every so often they remake a scene outta the original pretty faithfully and it feels outta place because of how different it feels with the rest of the game.

People often buy things if they are good. Well over half my games are gifts as well, some that people even pirated before giving me.

It's a pretty good game in its own right but bad as far as being a remake of Yume Nikki. Take it not as replacing the original but being a cool thing you can point and be like "Oh, that's a take on that part of the original"

So does it run well?
I want to buy it, but i'm afraid my mid tier PC can't handle it based on the sys req

SAUCE

Yeah, okay.

Boku Girl. It's not porn, it's a TG comedy SoL.
That scene would have been hotter if (s)he actually was a boy in that fantasy.

The visuals are surprisingly fantastic. I was expecting a cash in but it seems like actual effort was put into this project.

>Boku Girl
Good taste my friend

>the gameplay is this odd, linear platforming and puzzle solving with trial and error tactics,

This, this hurts the most
Some pedantic people might argue that Nikki had no "gameplay" but what it did have was pretty integral to what it was. I can appreciate them borrowing and respecting the themes, but walking around exploring ~was~ integral to theme

All the fan projects that were worth a damn respected that

I still appreciate that all the new buzz around this game and the steam release of the original got me to play it again for the first time in a while though so I'm not angry, just disappointed

>It's not porn
I've never been so disappointed in my entire life.

Yeah, it looks like they nailed the atmosphere

...

I can't see shit.
My night vision hasn't kicked in yet.

I'll help you out a bit webm user.

But is best character in it?

Yume-chan has nice legs.

It's not too good, but playable.

>Yume-chan

Why does she shake her head when I press E near whatever that is?

Oh no, the dev will come to these threads and see we're pirating this game!

>game tries to be third person LSD
>lmao let's "fix" it by adding platforming and puzzles

why would you want to leave, user

So what I'm seeing it's just a generic horror game then? No objects to collect that give you different forms? No infinite looping? I was hoping for a game similar to first with new content

>get to 'that' part of the game
>its fucking nothing
?????????????????????????????????????
The Ao Oni shit better be top notch.

Have you played the original?

People would complain about it being a walking simulator.

Is the disappointment and despair starting to set in for you guys as well?

Has anyone figured out what the fuck is up with Monoe in this yet?
