It's third behind BOTW and then Pyre for me, but I still loved it
shut the fuck up, ape escape faggot
It's the only game I played in 2017 that I still start from time to time just to fly around, do some treasure hunts and one or two mindless side missions.
Dunno about Goty but it is the most cozy game of 2017 for me.
It's not but I liked it a lot. I would put BOTW and maybe even Persona 5 ahead of it.
reminder that GR2 didn't even get nominations for best music or best art
this is a true injustice
To me the top 5 GOTY in no personal order
Gravity Rush R
Gravity Rush 2
BOTW
Persona 5
Nier
>Gravity Rush R
it actually came out in 2016
2015 for Japan even
Nier Automata, BotW, Persona 5 and Div:OS 2 were better IMO.
mass genocide on weebs when?
GR2 was way more enjoyable than Nier
>Fucking Lawbreakers gets a nomination
Not even close, Nier Automata BTFOs it in literally every single way.
lol
when is shit going to go on sale already
>Motion sickness: the game
>GOTY
Inb4 faggots who don't get engrossed enough to get motion sickness
It was good, but certainly not GOTY
...
soy
It can very easily be arguable against but with sentimentality as a factor it's absolutely mine. I adored the first on Vita and desperately wanted a sequel. I got one, proof that sometimes life can give you nice things.
It was good. Could have been better.
The flee-from-fans missions make me want to peel my face off.
I enjoyed Kat game so much better than BOTW (I even give up this game after the 3rd devine beast).
Thanks to remind me how awesome this game is gonna play it tonight again.
Not even remotely close. GR2 was like a blast back to N64 days of fun. Nier:A was kino.
You mean "PS2 days"
>The only PS4 game models available for sfm is from Until Dawn
>Literally more generic "normal people" characters
>Still no Gravity Rush anything
IT'S NOT FAIR
I enjoyed GR2 much more as well but I recently caught a second wind with BotW and brought myself to finish the main story. Shelving it for a few months and coming back fresh from the fatigue did it more good than I thought it would.
>all these mentions of BotW
No love for XC2?
This. Honestly, I find myself enjoying games that feel more like they should've happened in the 5th/6th gen more than games that feel relatively "modern" in comparison.
Lost interest when I saw that changing armor doesn't change the looks on character. It's not 92 anymore, no excuse for that lazy shit.
No way. GR2 is definitely flawed but for the most part feels like joy to play and you get to fly though a unique and colorful world. While with Nier everything is in service to the story and it's drama and themes, but I never really felt amazed from the actual gameplay. Playing it was just usually an okay experience.
I honestly enjoyed the combat in GR2 much more than Nier. Kat actually has more moves available than 2B
Nier definitely has more combat depth, there's just no good reason to actually utilize it other than styling on motherfuckers just to style. Button mashing and pod spamming will get you through that game just fine.
>want to do the Raven glitch for fun
>need to do delvool to 30 just to get Raven
>already on layer 11 and want to give up
This shit is like anti-fun.
WHY CAN'T THEY JUST UPDATE THE GAME AND GIVE YOU THE OPTION TO FREE ROAM WITH RAVEN AND EVEN GIVE HER OWN COSTUMES AND SIDE MISSIONS?
That's just your opinion, vast majority enjoys gameplay of Nier Automata a lot more. And story is not just drama and themes, there are plenty of lighhearted moments in the game, plenty of comfy places, fishing etc. And gameplay is absolutely amazing with various weapon combinations to keep things fresh and interesting. Taro's games are not for everyone but it's easily understandable why so many people rate it high.
On low difficulties yes, on hard and very hard good luck with just button mashing. It's quite opposite, it's mostly holding R1 and being patient with R2, there isn't a whole lot of button meshing, most combos involve 4-5 presses.
That’s a shame.
No I mean N64. PS2 games didn't really play like GR.
> but I never really felt amazed from the actual gameplay
Compared to Gravity Rush? Lol what the fuck am I reading.
>Kat actually has more moves available than 2B
HAHAHAHHA.
youtube.com
The music is great
why do people say she's black?
>Kat actually has more moves available than 2B
Confirmed not to have played Nier Automata. Nier has flaws for sure but you fucked up there.
They don't know how tanned skin/lightning works
On hard decent quality chips will carry you through the greatly heightened damage output. Defense, auto-heal, shockwave, stuff like that mitigates a lot of hard's difficulty once you finally get some of that going. I wasn't crazy enough to play very hard but I'd imagine patience, good enemy pattern reads and dodge/pod spamming is close to an optimal strategy to surviving that mode.
Dude movement alone is more fun in Nier, at least you have to think to get to some areas. The only thing I really liked in GR2 was finding apples, everything else was the same as the first game but worse basically. Other anons addressed the other points that you were wrong about.
I am playing on very hard now and it's exactly that, I sometimes spam dodge because I'm pretty bad but it's really hard until I get overclock I imagine. One good thing is you can go full attack mode with chips and shockwave is a huge life saver. I thought hard mode was similar with 90% of enemies still one shotting you? I guess on hard you can stack HP+ chips and make it so you can tank up to 2-3 hits then.
Stand aside.

This is one of the best songs in the history of gaming for how it was implemented into the game. By itself it's not that good, but when you hear it in-game holy FUCK was that good.
We get it, you like Nier Automata.
How are the two games even that related outside of the DLC costume?
OP said the wrong game was GOTY.
It's similar in the opening hours, with the prologue being nigh indistinguishable from very hard. That said, with hard you can eventually stack chips that consistently keep you from getting OHKO'd and therefore becomes much more manageable. Doesn't really work that way for very hard, though.
And I like how that amusement park scene and song did more in 30 minutes of gameplay and everything better than Bioshock Infinite ever wanted in it's entire game.
They're the top 2 games of the year regardless. Why bicker over which is number 1 and which is number 2?
>Compared to Gravity Rush? Lol what the fuck am I reading.
Yeah, flying around the city with three gravity styles versus doing doing Yorha chores in a mostly bleak and bland apocalyptic landscape.
>Kat actually has more moves available than 2B
I don't count going into the pause menu to switch out the weapons. 2B can only have two weapons sets with two weapons each at one time. 9S even has it worse with only two weapons and the heavy attack button is now the hack button. Kat has access to all of her moves with the 3 styles.
>Dude movement alone is more fun in Nier,
I disagree, GR has a lot of options for movement and it feels more fun.
But I agree that there's no hard to reach areas in GR
>Dude movement alone is more fun in Nier
Movement in an open world is like the thing GR is best at. Gravity shifting/sliding might be my favorite way to get around a massive open world ever.
...
Nier has fun movement but IMO it could use more movement style type chips. Or maybe if one android had that gimmick with more parkour stuff.
Not even, BOTW was better than GR2 as well.
Yeah boy.
The only movement you have is flying and sliding, Nier's animations are more slick to look at so it's more fun.
Too bad nothing in the open world is great.
>GR autists at it again
I remember finally getting GR for my Vita and playing it for about two hours before just never touching it again. It was just boring.
>Gravity Rush will only get as much attention as GoW and Uncharted, if they reboot it to make it into a mix of InFamous and Life is Strange
speaking of raven anyone got the ringsel pic
>Too bad nothing in the open world is great.
Seriously? The only visually interesting places in Nier is the desert and the themepark. The majority of that games is just a shitty looking ruined city. How is that better than a multilayered city of floating islands?
Neir has better models, lighting, and particle effects but I wasn't talking about graphics. The actual content of Nier is better than babysitting dogs and forced stealth sequences. Or toddler level "u can't use your powers here" bullshit segments implemented just to pad out the game.
escort missions and fetch quests are not better than GR2's side missions
Notice how you said "side missions" there.
>servers shut down within a year
It's almost like we're paying for PS+!
because we are talking about things to do in the open world
The main missions are dog shit dog escorts.
Some escort missions were actually great like the Lost girl quest, some lovely dialogues there. Parade escort quest has nice music but it was meh. Lost Child or whatever it was called was pretty nice and showed more lore about machine's feelings and it continus the whole suspicion of MCs on machines and their feelings. I don't remember other escort quests but for the most part they are done very well in Nier Automata and time walking was used for dialogue between androids and gives us more insight into their personalties.
Wait I read your post wrong. Wtf are you even talking about.
I just want to know if kat is alive
Btw she's not black
>literal black skin
>I just want to know if kat is alive
Game literally throws hints about it
She's tanned
>Or toddler level "u can't use your powers here" bullshit segments implemented just to pad out the game.
It's funny that you talk about bullshit padding when Nier has Route B which makes you do nearly the exact same things you already did for the last ~6 hours but with a shittier character, but here a few pretentious new cutscenes that show you that robots have feelings too!
keep telling yourself that
>BOTW was better than GR2 as well
Fuck no it wasn't, the only fun movement option in that game was shield surfing and 85% of the time you got punished for using it.
(You).
I fucking hated BotW (willing to defend this viewpoint) and got really burnt out on P5 since I had played the other games in the series beforehand and it follows the formula so closely. Automata I understand and I haven't played D2.
Other than horse riding, gliding and abusing physics to catapult yourself in air and fly you mean. Not to mention everything else it has to offer, it's a better game.
>not overcoming your crippling motion sickness through the liberal and repeated pursuit of manly activities like flying planes
SOY
I misread that as asserting that BotW's movement options were better. Even so, I still liked GR2 more than BotW personally.

>horse riding
Horse controls like ass when you do actually control it, but you can also just let it autopilot and that's no fun.
>gliding
Wind Waker did it 15 years ago, the novelty wore off a while ago.
>abusing physics to catapult yourself in air and fly
A lot of unnecessary work for what amounts to faster gliding.
>have this game sitting here
>barely played it
How much better is it than GR1?
I love kitten!
>Horse controls like ass
How? Try without using buzzwords.
>Wind Waker did it 15 years ago, the novelty wore off a while ago.
And GR 2 invented what novelty?
Too bad she smells, REEKS even.
People can't go near her because she smells so bad.
Rotting fish would be a pleasant change.
not enough lewds
And you are right, GR series is shallow as a puddle. Cute and fun for a hour.
>see the categories
>have a second or two of "wtf"
>realize that my beloved game was spared the taint of being associated with that fucking circus known as the game awards
>instant relief
Kat and Raven are too good for those faggots.
Did you even played the games?
This series actually wants to have a defining identity, compared to most games out there.
Post more
Taming aside, I very rarely rode horses because they weren't much good for doing anything other than running in straight lines and jumping off of for 360 noscopes. I honestly had more fun running on foot and climbing to get around than enteraining horses as a mechanic.
>And GR 2 invented what novelty?
None, but it at least expanded upon GR's gravity shifting with Lunar and Jupiter modes, meaning Kat could now become lighter and heavier in addition to freely manipulating gravity.
>for an hour
He hasn't played them.
I want to **** Kat
I have IRL motion sickness from cars, planes, and boats and this game doesn't make me feel sick unless I'm intentionally doing something really absurd and not really intended like webm related but even then it's not even full on motion sickness
what?
FUCK
...
who?
>Using fanart as a reference
the first game is probably a better overall game in terms of story and missions, but 2 has better gameplay with the 2 new gravity styles for a lot more movement and combat variety and there is a brand new city plus you return to Heckseville
Not him
fuck?
