Is 4k a meme?

What about 144hz?

The eye can’t see above 480p and 26fps

>Is 4k a meme?
yes, too few game support it and performance is ass unless you're running SLI. Also higher frames aren't possible currently.
>What about 144hz?
no, this is actually really useful for minimizing screen tearing and for playing online multiplayer games in particular.

>That image
Back to your discord server faggot.

4k is a fucking meme, just like said. I guess you can get some benefit for your OS but only if you are using a 32" screen or bigger

>being able to see more fps a meme
not a meme
>higher resolutions when you sit half a meter away from your monitor
yes a meme

You stupid cunt, it was proven scientifically that the human eye can't see past 24fps, that's why movies are filmed at 24fps.

Obviously an improvement but too expensive.

who draws these?

They are both memes.

Rarely any software takes advantage of 144hz.

Very little content is on 4k natively.

>Is 4k a meme?
Probably.
>What about 144hz?
Nope. The difference is instantly noticeable and a way smoother experience overall.

idiot, 24 first person shooters doesnt even make sense

either way i got a samsung tv shit and so far it gets the job done.

Aight, so, where did this info come from? Was there ever any study, or was it just Hollywood shitposting?

60 fps is the cap for what humans can see, dumbass.

Big tits are a meme

144hz is amazing looking the instant you see it
4k is sorta memey, most res you really need is 2560x1440

For about 2 more years it will be

tfw I play on a "gaming" laptop
Does anyone else know this suffering?

I just upgraded to 144hz and 2k and I love it. I'm waiting for the next generation of Gpu's (1180 ti?) Before going to 4k. I will not have sub 60 fps.

If it's a meme it's the best meme.

I was planning to buy a 1440p monitor, does it have considerable less aliasing than 1080p?

Well i play all my games in 4k 60fps. Id say its pretty comfy

I play on a thinkpad

too big

Sauce?

Model? Specs? How does it hold up?

I can confirm 144hz is not a meme, I will never go back. Aim has improved in shooters and even just lurking Sup Forums or programming feels smoother.

Yeah I had one of those, it was terrible. Should've listened to Sup Forums when they told me not to buy it.

What's the issue with gaming laptops?
Mine works perfectly but can't hold a charge at all

W510. Plays stuff up to around 2012 fine, indies fare just fine. Can't expect to run anything harder than Source games on medium without everything shitting itself.

>build my girlfriend a desktop
>She plays a bit on it
>Eventually decides she would rather have a laptop
Now we own an alienware and my buddy has the old rig. At least she likes playing on it.

I bought one of those think boards and had a gpu hooked up to my W510

144fps is a godsend if you play any fast paced game or fps, not worth it if you are for say a huge 4x fan, obviously
also causes some problems if you run dual monitors, especially if one monitor is not 144fps

4k isn't a meme if you don't mind 32 inch or a bit bigger monitors (which I personally find too big, to be sitting from half a meter away from it), yet it's very difficult to drive that resolution and it's basically just not yet worth it, maybe in the upcoming 2 years or so
I personally went with 1440p@24inch, the perfect size for a monitor and the perfect DPI for it looking great and not being too small (same DPI as FHD 15.6 inch laptop)
high refresh rate is also not a meme, but again, it's a lot harder to hit the target fps and the biggest problem is going from high refresh rate to a lower one (for example switching from desktop to laptop or home to work), you'll notice a hueg difference that won't feel too great, plus just like with 4k, I'd say the situation should be a LOT better in next 2 years
Buy a 24inch QHD monitor for 250$ now and when good panel + high refresh rate + high resolution will be put into one monitor and not cost ridiculous money, then consider buying that, no point in missing out on new tech like freesync 3 or whatever the fuck, when you can't easily use the ones available at the moment

Can't say anything about 4k but I recently got a 144hz monitor and it's really good, would recommend to everyone that can afford it.

A thing though, don't skimp on it. Get one that's 350-400$ at least because the cheap ones have some issues such as blur or low brightness.

everything you don't have is a meme until you have it for yourself

4k is 90% a meme. Maybe makes sense for large screens. 144hz is not a meme if you can actually run games at that framerate.

Thanks for the answer, i was already considering a 1440p 24" monitor.

That's a big bait you got yourself laddeh

Refresh rate > Resolution

>no more blurry shit and no jaggies
>meme

>multiple times the required processing power
>for a bit smoother picture
>not a meme
this argument goes both ways

how
exactly how does it go both ways

Jaggies hurt my eyes and AA keeps getting blurrier

What about 4xmsaa?

Jaggis also tend to interfere with my hunts by being straight up nuisances.

>multiple times the required processing power
>4k is 4 times the resolution of FHD
>QHD is 4 times the resolution of HD
>144hz is more than 2 times more than 60hz
Want high refresh rate and high resolution? multiply those numbers for required processing power, even more for the cost and for what? vidya gaymes?

MSAA is trash

>Having a gf
mine only plays on a 2DS I gave her for x-mas 3 years ago
I installed a lot of weeb shit but all she does is play NSMB2
