HOW bad is Mass Effect Andromeda exactly? What makes it so awful? I know the main character looks like a retard or whatever, but that cant be it

I like the old ones and I just bought a new GPU. Want to play some high graphics AAA shit.

The writing and characters are pre-highschool tier along with the intern-level animations ruin it for me

i mean, the old games werent exactly masterclass of writing. Shephard is serviceable (blandly cool. just whats needed), and some squadmates, like Garrus & Mordin & Thane are pretty damn cool, but its largely bland and clichéd. But youre telling me Andromeda is worse?

Andromeda is the opposite of what you're looking for. Try Kingdom Come: Deliverance instead.

i heard its still really buggy, so i figured id give them a few weeks to hopefully get in some patches first

but alright, so the characters are childish (im guessing overtly quippy or something), but how can the combat be bad? its cover-based pop & shoot, like the previous ones, i assume? seems un-upfuckable.

It's not that bad. It's just not that great. Feels weak, but it's not broken or boring. I wouldn't actively avoid it, but there are better games out there.

yea i mean... i struggle to see how its THAT bad. and since im a fan of the original 3 games... i kinda want some "epic" dumb storytelling RPG shit, and i already played Witcher 3

You're going too far, there are no "characters" in this game.

Some say it's the best in ME, but those are the same people that prefer 2 and 3 over 1. Honestly the combat feels weak as shit to me, and squad commands are non-existent.

Developed by BioWare's D team, almost everyone from the original dev team already left also including the creator.

The combat is very smooth but not very in depth. They also had the fantastic idea to make it so that you can o ly have 2 abilities at a time, and if you want to use others you have to literally swap to a different loadout and everything goes on cooldown.

Also the new alien races are extremely bland and boring humanoids, and the enemies are basically less interesting collectors.
I honestly loved the first few hours of the game, but it got old very very quickly.

some review i looked at kinda said the opposite; that the writing and everything is shit until like the last half, and thats when it "gets good". but im really skeptical about that

Yeah it's a ridiculous let down.

Oh also when the game was originally released, there was literally only one white preset. You couldn't change the skin tones of the non-white presets to anything paler than olive skin.

They literally had to patch in extra options for white characters.
Combine that with one of their designers (since fired) being an extreme anti-white racist, that was pretty shit.

eughhh yea ive heard something about bioware being completely ruined by zoe quinns walking around everywhere. that kind of shit REALLY makes me not want to play it, more than anything else desu

Yeah I miss the old days when there were so many great games coming out from all three. Europe is seriously the only hope I have left.

What's funny is that Bioware had been going in this direction for two decades. Their claim to fame was a franchise of games with a key feature where you could romance the characters on your team, regardless of their race or gender. By Mass Effect 3, it didn't even matter if they were biological. Dragon Age 2 and Andromeda was really just a part of Bioware's natural evolution.

Fuck you, 1 was a great campy space opera with likeable characters, and the scene with Sovereign was really good. 2 was a quality vidya equivalent of a summer blockbuster movie. There's "not master class" and "bottom of the barrel."

It was really boring with a plot that seemed reused from the old games

Bad as in:

>poor characters
>no real advancement of graphics
>bugs bugs bugs
>awful dialogue
>extremely janky animations
>par-for-the-course combat

The list goes on. Some of the glitches/bugs are funny, like they were with standard MEs but it's still just fucking awful.
