>to this day, it's still impossible to buy a decent GPU without getting ripped off massively
Other than the generally higher entry price, constant issues with drivers, day one patches, aggressive drm, piracy, hackers, and shitty windows 10, now it has become nearly impossible to buy a damn GPU stronger than a console. The average 1060Ti costs more than a PS4 Pro nowdays, and that's just the fucking GPU.
Is this the end for PC gaming? What's even the point of PC gaming if nobody other than actual richfags can get into it? This is literally worse than the 599 us dorra PS3 fiasco, because a fucking mid tier GPU costs over 450 bucks now.
Or will this spell the end for AAA gaming on PC, leaving only pixelshit, indies and re-releases of older games playable for the vast majority of players?
PC gaming died a while ago. There is literally no reason to own a gaming PC in 2018.
Nearly every single good game coming out this year is a PS4 exclusive. All PC gets is Blizzshit and "release it now, patch it later" cash grabs n' runs.
Leo Reyes
>1060Ti ???
Jason Carter

Benjamin Evans
>Nearly every single good game coming out this year is a PS4 exclusive. such as? as all the ones I can think of are multiplat or timed exclusive
William Gomez
Just buy shit off of Massdrop, fag.
Most of the GPU inflation is due to retailers seizing the moment, not the actual manufacturers.
Eli Baker
>such as?
FF7 Remake RE2 Remake Code Vein Death Stranding KH3
The list pretty much goes on.
Benjamin Scott
>PC gaming is dead, buy a console you stupid fuck: the shill thread #43248
Isaac Turner
I'm still rocking a 560Ti, it works for stuff like CEMU or the average indie or PS3 rerelease (played Tales of Berseria last month). I would like to get a 1060 before the buttcoin meme makes it impossible to get one. In my country GPU prices are just fucking retarded nowdays. Tell me more.
Jose Smith
>PC gaming is not dead, i s-swear! Buy a massively overpriced GPU that costs more than the strongest console on the market, goy- I mean, fellow poster! What are you, poor?
John Allen
you could buy your card straight off nvidia's site now and skip the overpricing ripoff retail scalpers
dunno about AMD, but AMD sold out entirely to buttcoining since their drives are so shit that they broke DX9 in a driver update around Christmas and their reply was DON'T PLAY OLD GAMES or some shit.
William Walker
Only FF7 remake and DS are exclusives, and it's kind of a stretch to count a remake or remaster as an exclusive if you ask me.
Luis Evans
But I can run PUBG on my 970 better than an xbox one x can
Ayden Ramirez
>order broken gpu from ebay for a few dollars >order new gpu from any online shop >put broken gpu in new gpu box and send it back >get money refunded >enjoy your brand new gpu
Come on, guys. It's like you never met a jew online.
Austin Wood
Literally all of those will come to PC.
Blake James

Sorry, I don't play shit games for braindead millennials.
Luke Johnson
>their reply was DON'T PLAY OLD GAMES That was from a low-level customer rep, a higher-up at AMD said shortly after they'll fix it. Dunno if they fixed it yet, haven't played any old games in a while.
Samuel Martin
Please tell me what great games you play on the xbox one
Jace Cox
I'm not sure death stranding will release on PC, I know it's been rumoured a lot but sony is pushing it pretty hard so I'd imagine they'd want to keep exclusivity.
Jonathan Stewart
>tfw you built a rig aften 10 years of planning it in January I'll probably switch to laptops as utility PCs unless the market unfucks itself.
Owen Miller
>560 ti
Really nigga? That was my mid config in 2011.
Colton Martinez
>Low quality japshit consisting entirely of remakes LOL
Joshua Powell
Kojima did say his next game will release on PS4/PC, but you could be right. It wouldn't be the first time Sony has bought a game and made them cancel the PC version.
Jeremiah Harris
But I don't even have a fucking xbox one, like I said I don't play shit games. I have my old rig with a 560 from back when I fell for the PC meme, and a PS4.
Brayden Martinez
I have a PS4 too, and my 970 still out performs every game on the system. Sorry you cant afford a $200 5 year old card
Jonathan Barnes
I can still play everything that's worth playing on PC nowdays, that is pixelshit, emulators and PS3 ports. I would like to upgrade but like I said I don't want to get ripped off. With these prices I can get a used PS4 Pro for less than the average mid tier GPU.
Dylan James
>Sorry you cant afford a $200 5 year old card that card won't be anywhere close to $200 by now, why do you think poorfags who haven't upgraded in 5+ years are so mad right now?
Hunter Lewis
>unless the market unfucks itself. It won't, it will only get worse unless Nvidia builds new plants and factories to up their production which could take 5 years if not more. I know 3 guys who plan their crypto farms right now and they will be buying massively overpriced GPUs, they say it will be worth it.
Austin Allen
Nigga, I paid 200€ for the regular PS4. Why would I spend that much for an obsolete card.
Justin Stewart
you spent that much for an obsolete system
John James
This.
Or, you can own a Ryzen Apu and play all PC exclusives and indies pretty well anyway (such as RTS games, e-sports Mobas and shooters, indies)., without the need for dedicated gpu card.
Then for serious AAA gaming just get an Xbox One X (or Ps4 Pro if you like the exclusives, which I personally dont). Heck, you can even use it for 4k gaming if you're into that kind of thing.
Kayden Scott
So that you can play multiplats at at least 1080p with 60fps instead of 900p if lucky and 25fps
Julian Hill
I got lucky and built my rig just before the Ram and GPU price spike. PC gaming pushes the graphics and compute envelope and will always be the domain of rich fags. The only thing that people should be questioning is why monitor and SSD prices have been stable for the past through years. Normally technology decreases over time, yet these have remained the same.
Connor Hughes
>get an XBOX Why though? If you already have a pc, a 1060 would be a much better purchase than a console, and you won't be restricted by what the developers allow you to do.
Nathaniel Phillips
The only PC games worth buying nowdays are toaster tier indies and emulators. Stuff like Hollow Knight or Ori or Cuphead have been better than any piece of shit AAA bug ridden, unoptimized PS4 port. The rest is PS4 exclusive like P5 or fucking Bloodborne.
There is literally no reason to buy a "gaming" PC nowdays. Everything worth playing runs on modern integrated or low end dedicated cards just fine.
Why do you think every PC nigger was throwing money at Cemu for BotW? So that they could play an actually decent game that wasn't a 2D indie on their outdated and too expensive to upgrade toasters.
Daniel Cox
>GPU's are getting bought as soon as they are made. Consoles are not >it's the GPU's the ones being shilled, I swear. You are the shill! Stupid shill.
Austin Howard
>PC gaming died a while ago. There is literally no reason to own a gaming PC in 2018. Should have just ended the post right there. PC gaming started being shit about a decade ago.
Carter Ortiz
Not worth overpaying $400+ on the gpu + $200+ on Ram.
Kayden Morris
>gpus are bought as soon as they are made by buttcoin miners >therefore (((retailers))) overprice the shit out of them
>g-goy, go buy a ridiculously overpri- I mean fairly priced GPU instead of a cheap console, they're totally worth it I swear!
Anthony Martin
Why do poor people get so triggered?
Brandon Cook
I'm not telling you to buy a GPU. Those prices are retarded indeed. You just assumed so because that is the only argument you console shill can come up with. Post all the jews you want, shill, you are fucking transparent.
Michael Turner
Well then, I guess I'm glad I finally decided to do it, and maybe went a little bit overboard. All that's left is to buy more RAM when I need it, and hopefully the PC will last me for ages. Seeing as how I lose interest in playing games, maybe it will just will. Fucking crypto currencies.
Colton King
Not to mention most AAA games come with absurd DRM and some of them just flat out dont come to PC or they do it months later.
Nicholas Wood
150ti costs 150 $ in ger step your game up

This, man I wish we would go back to the pre 2010 PC era. I miss playing all the custom maps in Warcraft 3, CS Source and WoW,Maplestory durig it's golden age.
I hope the fad dies out and all those bandwagoning "PC Gamers" leave the plattform, they contributed to the death of it with their shitty purchase decision and "le gamer led" shit.
not quite but almost. that's a really fair price too.
Samuel Williams
Unironically all of this.
The problem is that the PC gaming community still hasn't awakened to these facts yet. They all have rigs that are 1 to 5 years old, and bought before all of this. What they don't realize is that eventually when they have to upgrade, some even this year (like me) they will notice they need maybe 2 to 3 times the amount of money for a basic PC than they used to. Just to be able to play on Medium settings and in 1080p at 60 FPS.
Gone are the dreams of having a rig that runs new games at 100 FPS like in the past. To get to that level you need to have an insanely powerful PC. The main reason?
Because games are poorly optimized on PC. Made by indie studios using shitty engines. Ports that are rushed out the door. Drivers that are poorly done. Windows 10 updates fucking people up and eating up a ton of resources. Processors being made that barely are much better than 4 years ago. RAM prices are fucked up by a monopoly.
The list just keeps going on. At least back in 2012 to 2015 a decent PC ran new games at 100 FPS. Now a 1080 Ti that costs 800$ can barely run GTA V at 60 FPS with settings maxed.
Kevin Nelson
dude you can still play all those games. many do. add cod 4 to that. csgo is pretty great too, way better than source. i still play wc3 regularly too. you just aren't looking hard enough or you're too hard in your comfort zone to go through the hoops and loops to play games like in the old days
Levi Young
> csgo is pretty great too, way better than source
I just hide your post you don't even need to reply anymore
Xavier Parker
bruh i hope you realize a gtx 1060 gives you more than 1080 60fps on medium settings. a gtx 1080 is the equivalent of a 980, and is half as cheap as the 980 when it first came out
Michael Nguyen
>mfw this picture >that plural on "couple" everytime.
Sebastian Rivera
yes that's one way to ignore the facts. i played css extensively (was top100 in german ESL even) , over 6000h played easily. csgo is miles better and plays better too.
Samuel Collins
You realize this will impact console prices too soon, right?
Isaac Price
What nVidia shills don't realize is that the PS4-Xbone gen is running out. Now you can still get away with a decent card such as the 1060 by spending the equivalent of a PS4 Pro.
In a couple of years PS5 and Xbtwo are going to come out and be more powerful than the average high end card of today.
If this shit keeps up in two years it's going to be near impossible for PC fags to keep up when GPUs are going to be impossible to find and even more overpriced than they are today because buttcoin miners buy entire lots for their mining warehouses.
Benjamin Rogers
fucking this. I'm still rocking a 2500k but went from a gtx 580 to a 1060 6gb and shit I get 1080/60 on most games on high just need's a little bit of tweaking
>Based on conservative estimates of gross margin of 75 percent and operating margin of 65 percent, Bernstein analysts calculate that Beijing-based Bitmain made $3 billion to $4 billion in operating profits in 2017. >In contrast, Nvidia's operation profit was $3 billion during the same period, according to Bernstein's U.S. semiconductor team estimates. >Bernstein's analysis also indicated that "Bitmain shrewdly adjusts the prices of miners according to bitcoin prices."
Christian James
how dumb are you? it's about the chips
Robert Young
>1060ti
user pls That aside, we already have GPUs. It'd take years of constant overpriced GPUs, well into the next console generation, to make an impact on the PC market.
Andrew Perez
How dumb are you? It’s not NVIDIA setting the price, it’s the retailers being greedy.
Julian Flores
This bitcoin shit needs to go. Crash and mass suicides when?
Hunter Thomas
Now?
Joseph Ortiz
Consoles still have to compete with all other manufacturers for RAM, which will definitly drive up prices.
The chips themselves really won't be impacted, because they're custom.
Landon Jones
Yes because PS4 & Xone were more powerful than the average high end card when they released, am I rite?
Chase Thompson
If killing yourself because of a fucking cryptocurrency isn't natural selection adapting to those shitty times, I don't know what is.
Brayden Gray
GPU price craze is mostly due to the high demand of GPU memory. There's a penury of memory, due to exclusive contracts signed by Samsung and Apple. What remains is scarcely distributed to other parties. The mining boom only makes things worse. This will impact console manufacturers too. If that garbage bitcoin mining fade doesn't end up soon, gaming as a whole is going to become unaffordable, regardless of the support you play on. It's only a PC gaming problem for now.
Andrew Parker
>killing yourself because of pixelpoints
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ian Bailey
Yes, this pleases me.
Justin Stewart
it doesnt even have the power of a gtx 1030, its useless.
Sebastian Taylor
I think that suicide is a shame, because he didn't contribute to the current situation. He was there early and had some saved up from the past. I suppose he was just a greedy fucking retard, but still. I'm his age too and if this had happened to me, I'd be fucking depressed too because I live a meaningless life right now and if something like that passed me by I'd be fucking depressed too. Don't know if I'd take my own life though. I'm pretty happy with having little, as long as I have food, shelter and vidya I'm pretty content.
Matthew Ortiz
>The chips themselves really won't be impacted why would amd produce cheap chips for sony and microsoft if they can produce expensive chips for miners?
Henry Reyes
Guaranteed high-volume contract. Miners may stop buying tomorrow, who knows?
Julian Miller
Because the companies making GPU's aren't retarded enough to jump on a bandwagon that could explode at any minute. They don't want to be left with a massive surplus they can never sell if Crypto dies one day without warning.
Brandon Parker
>got my 1080ti for MSRP as soon as it was listed last March
Aiden Russell
your savior is here
Liam Reyes
How often do you fuckers need to buy GPUs that a price increase is this much of a big deal?
Brandon Taylor
>Buy a massively overpriced GPU
Or you know, you could buy a pre-built PC from a reputable brand who won't jew you on the cost of the graphics card. Alternatively you can buy an entry level GPU, which aren't affected much by the mining craze because the price:performance ratio isn't good enough for profitable mining, or the very high-end, where the same applies.
Matthew White
But if you have an APU you already have the RAM.
Angel Brooks
My 4 year old GTX 970 is running new games at high/medium at 1080p 60fps.
FFXV runs at 60fps on standard. Turning the nvidia shit off and I can put settings on high and keep 60fps with ease.
Jacob Lopez
>Or you know, you could buy a pre-built PC from a reputable brand who won't jew you on the cost of the graphics card.
And then pay the same amount as building your own rig with an expensive GPU because prebuilts are marked up in everything and not just the GPU.
Juan Bailey
it will cost so much that it will actually be cheaper to buy a ryzen and a 1050ti instead to get the same power.
oh and it will be weaker than a 1060. definitely not the savior of pc gaming.
Nolan Perry
>And then pay the same amount as building your own rig with an expensive GPU
Nope, once you factor in the cheap windows license, you're often saving money even compared with building a year ago. Like I said a reputable brand, not some cheap $400 laptop crammed into a non-ATX "gamer aesthetic" plastic housing.
Robert Anderson
This but unironically. PC gets shit for exclusives and all the good multiplats are on PS4 anyways.
Caleb Jones
I did the math.
A pre-built with a 1070 and an i5 7600k is about £950
A 1070 on its own is about £600. A i7 7600k is £180
Adding stuff like the case, memory motherboard etc. they're about the same price now.
Blake Nguyen
What is a reputable brand, shit like HP or Dell? Those brands are ridiculously overpriced for the hardware and the shit tier cases they use. Shit like the HP Omen desktop costs around 1000 bucks with a piece of shit AMD processor and GTX1050. If you buy one of their graphics workstations with Quadro cards you're going to spend even more for less performance in directx games.
Nathaniel Hernandez
>The list pretty much goes on It doesn't.
Ayden Bennett
>Buying high end GPUs when modern games are made with consoles and low end PCs in mind
Unless you're obsessed with running games at 4K 120fps, completely pointless. You've been wasting money already. Crypto just made it obvious.
Thomas Price
same, no reason to upgrade yet.
Eli Diaz
>Shit >Shit >wat >wat >wat >I'm so enticed.

Pretty sure a 4:3 VGA LCD monitor will have decreased in price alongside other technologies.
