They've literally never been as profitable as they are now and Playstation especially has never reached these heights before. Sony has a tradition of funding stranger more artistic games. Even when losing billions on Playstation they were doing that. It's just a studio thing.

Kojima intended Fox Engine to be Konami's default engine which is why he spent so much time on it. it was going to be the basis for ZoE3, future MGS and PES titles aswell.

Even then I doubt MGSV was more expensive than the average AssCreed/CoD/Destiny game.

Actually 6-7 million is what a AAA Ass Creed game sells. And MGSV also had GZ which sold a few million despite it not being worth the money at all.

Kojima thought Konami were serious about games. But they didn't even have a proper engine so he gave them one. If he was working under SE or Bamco they would've made him CEO for giving them such an engine. Their own engines have been failing and they've been forced to resort to UE4 while their own engines are up and running again.

With Sony he got lucky and realized Guerilla had already made a good engine so he didn't need to start all over again.

For example, SE's Luminious Engine has been a complete disaster compared to Fox Engine. And they spent more time and money on that than Kojima did on his own engine. SE sure as hell didn't fire all its devs because of it.

The reason why MGSV looks so good despite being a last gen game is because KojimaPro are fucking smartass niggas.

If you study the graphics you realize the game is low-poly as fuck, but it hides it with visual effects and clever art direction. The Fox Engine is all about lighting because lighting and shading is like 80% of what makes a game good looking.

Meanwhile FFXV wastes a bunch of resources to make sure Noctis jacket and hair are just right.

Not him. MGS V looks/runs really good but I feel it's a bit dated in some part compare to other games. Sometimes I feel it's held back by the 360/PS3.
Although, the style and art direction really help the game.

This. KojiPro are gods of smoke and mirrors. They employ so many crazy tricks to save performance. I remember anons playing Ground Zero on their integrated Intel HD cards.

I'm expecting a solid third-person shooter core we get to play for 10 to 15 minutes every few hours between cutscenes, with a few kojima gimmicks thrown in there.

I'm expecting DS to be a lot more like MGS4, at least narratively. Kojima is going to go full fucking movie mode with this game, but we'll also probably get a neat MGSV style sandbox to blow up. Lot of shit to establish with a new universe.

Because there's nothing in TPP world. Th game loads on chunks.
Also the game looks shit. Only the main characters like Venom, Ocelot, etc. and guns look good because they have a high polygon count. Random soldiers including the phantom have lower polygon count hence why their faces look generic and non realistic.
As for the rest of the objects they have really bad textures and models. They re disguised by filters such as post processing and bluriness.

I'd post screenshots from shitty models but I dont have the game installed atm.
