>more people are watching Fortnite even though PUBG has the biggest tournament to date being streamed front page of Twitch RIGHT NOW

She's dead, Jim.

Soon.
It's headed the way of DayZ

Shit genre

how does twitch viewers equals money made for the game? is epic getting a percentage of the donations/subs?

That player loss is largely due to the anticheat. But i think once fortnite makes a new not baby map and fixes the dumbass spread it might grow a bit. PUBGs gotten stale for me so im trying fortnite again.

>how does twitch viewers equals money made for the game?

The same way ads viewer equals money for any product.

It's called coverage and putting your game in the spotlight of the market mindshare.

Fortnite already passed PUBG's record concurrent peak player count.

>sign a deal with micro$oft to keep it an exclusive
>comes back and bites you in the ass not even a year later

why would anyone think pubg is worthy of being a tournament game? i never played it since it doesn't interest me, but isn't essentially a game about rng? you know what, fuck it. i suppose if hearthstone and league of legends can be competitive games then we may as well open the floodgates to every piece of shit around

I can't stand battle royale, but I can at least appreciate fortnite for being a competent game with some originality. Pubg didn't deserve any of its success, it was a buggy unoptimised fotm microtransaction laden glorified mod with stolen assets but its fun with friends and my favrit streamer likes it xD so everyone had to jump on the bandwagon.

Low skill ceiling games have dominated the competitive scene for 10 years now. Crazy, isn't it?

Follow the money.

>muh rng
There is skill in handling probabilities. Just look at poker.

but it's a free game

>taking a guess = skill

Good one lmao. I guess winning the lottery is a skill now because someone said to themselves "I'm feeling lucky today, I'll place a bet".

I'm surprised too. Not about the RNG, but about it looks boring as fuck for spectators.

>make over half a billion dollars in a year
>can't stop a bunch of gooks with 3rd party software

>each new battle royale significantly outperforms the last, making the previous big dog look pathetic in comparison as they desperately try to inject life back into their golden goose while the new game dominates, until another new battle royale significantly outperforms the last, making the previous big dog look pathetic in comparison...

How does a competitive tournament for a BR game even work?

It helps that Fortnite can run on a toasterand run decently well.

How's the cheater situation in Fortnite?

The building mechanic sounds pretty tiresome but the chink hackers in PUBG are getting out of hand.

>competitive PUBG
damn this is actually pretty cool

the spectator mode is more advanced than I expected and it's fun watching the game when everyone knows how to play, it's very hectic

F2P

Its also got a paid version of the game. Only the multiplayer is free.

The exclusive deal they signed with Microsoft is what killed it, if they released it on playstation they'd be rolling in money still.

It's Ninja, that dude really baffles me, pulls in 50-80k viewers every single time he streams and has constant subs 20-100$ donations, the guy is probably raking in millions at this point

That too. Fortnite had a way bigger potential playerbase from the start.

very few people are buying that because it's confirmed to be going free soon anyway

-30 days

>confirmed
Source

My normie friends usually play nothing but FIFA but even they picked up Fortnite.

PUBG really cucked itself by staying off the PS4.

>watch big twitch streamer
>non-esports player
>its just him playing the game and making a dumb comment

I honestly don't understand most twitch channels. I can see if its a pro-player like Shroud or an attractive girl, but most streamers are just dudebros.

The title for that stream says "RERUN" you dumbass.

You can bluff and shit in poker, plus the 52 deck card is static and well known, Hearthstone is a glorified slot machine though

All games that rise eventually fall Fortnite has little to do with it. Realistically people don't go from one game they've invested in to an identical one they haven't, not in a large number at least.

Also the game style isn't one that remains fun forever. The fad will die down sooner or later although that's not to say it'll disappear, it'll just hit a more reasonable level.

>It's Ninja
It's who? This guy is a nobody.

Do you know what killed PUBG? Skipping PS4. Fortnite has made it huge on PS4. No joke. Everyone on PS4 is playing Fortnite now. PUBG gooks went full retard taking the MS bribes.

it's almost like not bothering to release new content, being too incompetent to deal with hackers, and signing an exclusivity deal that bars you from releasing your game on the console with the highest player base by a large margin would kill your game.

All seriousness, most of my normie friends picked up Fortnite after seeing tons of memes about it.

You get the PS4 audience you get the black audience, you get the blacks you get memes, and memes means normies.

>Counter Strike

epicgames.com/fortnite/en-US/faq

Confirmed.

you could just fucking google it next time, retard, it's hardly obscure news. We've known for ages.
player.one/fortnite-save-world-free-release-valentines-update-123321

>How long
4 to 6 PUBG updates

PS4 is the biggest console in the whitest countries in the world.

the game is f2p lmao

Not all PS4 owners are blacks, but blacks only have PS4.

why do people seem to think you're only allowed to play one?

It cucked itself by charging to play.
30 dollars is inherently a bigger roadblock than F2P, especially outside of US and europe. even if pubg made an absurd amount of money at the start, if will be surpassed by Fortnite eventually.

If PUBG wants to be neck and neck with Fortnite, it has to go F2P, even if that means pissing off a lot of people. What would they even give original buyers? Like a t-shirt? 20 crates and keys?

Most streamers aren't dude bros. You just watch dude bro games and/or dudebro streamers. If all you watch is sports shit, and camwhores, then all you will find is jocks and whores.
Try watching smaller streams. Where they can actually interact with the stream. or watch adventure games, where they have more to comment on, because the game gives them more material.

>is a nobody
currently 90k viewers and by far the most popular channel on twitch, aside from the usual tournaments of csgo and mobas that draw in hundreads of thousands, you could argue that's even more popular than the biggest youtubers since those numbers are concurrent viewers watching live at the same time, Ice Poseidon has like 500k subs on youtube and he barely breaks 10k every time he streams and he still pulls in $30k+ a month

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effect

>watch friend
>non-esports player
>its just him playing the game and making a dumb comment

I honestly don't understand watching friends play video games. I can see if its a pro-player like Shroud or an attractive girl, but most friends are just regular people.

>It cucked itself by charging to play.
I bet it's profits are almost as high as fortnite's, if not higher.
because Sup Forums is full of retards and shitposters that like to paint a false dichotomy.

True

He was the #1 H1Z1 player and a "pro halo player", normally pulled about 8k viewers and had an alright stream. He tends to get very animated and likes to yell and all that so he brings in a younger crowd.

I'm not surprised he gets a lot of viewers on fortnite but pushing 50-80k plus makes me think something else is going on, no one does that on a regular basis.

What competitive game doesn't have some semblance of RNG?

Chess.

>110k viewers now
what the actual living fuck

Who goes first is RNG

>twitch views determine games success
The absolute state of poorfag fortniters

no it isn't you can play rock paper scissors for it

wanted to pos this

this guy is one level ahead of the best players.. he plays duos with all tsm guys and he is always better than them.. a few hours after the patch added the impulse nade he already mastered

>watch fortnite without ever really playing it
>two guys get close to eachother
>they immediately both start building gigantic towers so one can get above the other and fuck them up by jumping into their tower and shotgunning them to death

this looks dumb in a fun way. pubg is dumb in a chinese way

They've been pretty good about dealing with cheaters. There was only one time where I died and felt like there's no way the guy wasn't cheating, but that was around Halloween when it was relatively new and hasn't happened since.

who has better reaction time is genetic rng

When will Fortnite die out like PUBG did? Battle royale games are just the current flavor of the month.

The issue is that modern 'competitive' games have substantially more randomness added to mechanics to lower the skill ceiling to attract more players. Esports today are very much manufactured purely as a form of advertisement so naturally the big competitive games of today are all casual pieces of shit.

>like PUBG did
>implying

considering it's F2P, a few years

starcraft 2

Depends on when Epic makes the hoard mode free. Hoard is a great normie attraction.

Not that I really care but as someone who watches a lot of twitch due to boring work I don't think that's a legit viewer count. No single streamers pull those numbers outside of very specific occasions (kripp on a release day, return of tyler1/doc) and most tournaments have trouble reaching that.

Epic might just be trying to troll pubg during its tournament.

Success? Yeah, actually. Viewers, players, advertising and revenue are all tied to success. The problem for PUBG is that it's starting to lose all of these and soon will soon suffer the fate it dealt to H1Z1.

pcgamer.com/fortnite-passes-pubg-with-34-million-concurrent-players/

>pubg still has more players and better tourneys

word of mouth is a powerful thing user.

Wrong

Eh, the top streamers max out around 30k, 45ish if its a special day. Doesn't matter to me but it's odd to see.

...

...

The catch id that it's across pc and xbox+ps4, so technically it didn't.

>Any and all discussion about PUBG revolves around how large the playerbase is because that's all PUBG has going for it
>Fortnite overtaking PUBG in popularity
>"POPULARITY DOESN'T MATTER!"

The absolute state of PUBGfags.

Maybe if they had addressed the hacker problem earlier their game wouldnt be dying so fast

>concurrent
Fucking retard.

Source?

>projection
I'm just saying arguing with twitch views is a pretty pathetic reach. Why are fortnite poorfags always so butthurt and demanding of acceptance?

Yeah, that's what Steam measures as well, what's your point?

It says it IN the article you linked, retard.
>tfw get BTFO by your own source

Well, the link from pcgamer that was posted.

It depends on your definition

>Pubg genuinely dies so it's difficult to find a game
Won't happen for the next 10 years

>Fortnite overtakes pubg ON PC
Won't happen in the foreseeable future. Almost everyone I know who plays pubg tried fortnite, found it to be crap and switched back.

>Fortnite overtakes pubg overall
Inevitable due to the huge amount of PS4 owners who don't have a choice and Xbox/toaster users who can't put up with performance

In conclusion, just accept pubg won and move on this is fucking pathetic. Fortnite overtaking pubg in players isn't an achievement when it's free and over half the players don't even have the option of playing pubg.

The only thing which means anything is if it overtakes pubg on pc, which its absolutely nowhere near doing even though it's free and runs much better.

depends on the game, plus it's the weekend today so I doubt he's viewbotting or whatever else you're implying

Concurrent =/= total number of players

Also fortnite added it's xbox, ps4 and pc numbers to get 3.4m, so it's still not topping pubg.

>Valk and HL start double teaming in Duels
>Use Revenge
>Kill both of them
>Valk bitches I used Revenge

The Battle Royal shit is a meme anyways, give it a few years and people will find something else to latch onto

I just installed fortnite and wtf you need to pay to even get the option to unlock stuff

It's not. Pubg is unironically my favourite game since halo 3. If it didn't exist fortnite would be.

It's a breath of fresh air and will be around for ages.

>lasts years
>still considered a meme
The fuck is wrong with you? Why are you such a miserable mess? Every game/gaming genre can be considered a meme by your stupid qualifications

batte pass ?
you can unlock stuff for free, with the pass you get more things
