bump

I used to love it back in the 2005 and 2007 days. I just feel like I don't have the time or energy now, what with having a job and shitposting on Sup Forums etc.

That's not Children of a Dead Earth.

Missiles are dumb.

hmm, this looks interesting. Might have to check it out. Anyone tried Rouge System?

I've been keeping an eye on it but I'll wait until it's released.

It's nice that it finally has 3d terrain but I'm spoiled by Space Engine in that department now.

we're also getting FSX Spaceport soon, although I don't know how it's going to be. I think it's LEO maneuvering only.

how is the game aspect of space engine coming along?

Last time I used the program was sometime in 2014, has there been any notable changes or aditions?

Nothing really major, just refinements but He's payed some attention to space ship flight and there have been some improvements to the hud and autopilot. It is possible to rendezvous with another ship and dock so you can attach a shuttle to a big interstellar ship and then warp off to another planet.

it's nice to hear that he is still at it. I'll donate some after I start working again, and I'll check it out again. Been way too long since last time.

Yeah I've played it, it's neat as hell but super early access so there's like nothing to do
Wait on it

I remember fucking around with it as a kid, but I never really understood how it worked.

Bump, neat thread in the making

I wish Elite: Dangerous didn't suck.

It's pretty sweet in VR with a good HOTAS

Space Engine needs more in the way of gamification. I enjoy setting myself goals for exploration but I wouldn't mind if there was some kind of simple game exploration system. Even something like Noctis in Space Engine would be pretty cool.

I've got a hotas but I'm not sure I can justify a vr setup right now. It would pe pretty fun to screw around in though.

>tfw the next version of space engine is getting Oculus CV1 support
Hype as fuck

It took some reading but once I understood how things worked it it was just awesome.

Pic and vid related.

Sure but how about one that can take something other than itself into orbit?

I last played the 2010 update, is collision in the freaking main engine yet?
that said flying to Cuba manually, flying to the moon manually, and fucking about on mars was some fun times.
and obviously I died many many many times. such is spaceflight with at best a calculator and tutorials on orbital mechanics open from the forums.

>kerbal space program

nope, but they updated the terrain and some other things. youtube.com/watch?v=L_rZqEPPFhw

I never could figure out TransX enough to use it without a manual/tutorial open at the same time.

I like them both. Any game with somewhat realistic physics is welcome. They are too rare as it is.

everything beyond docking with ISS is literally both a planing issue and an absolute bitch to pull off manually/on the fly
install warp engines was my solution. but never use time dilation if you do. you will end up spinning forever in nullspace.

Did that guy ever make Noctis V?

KSP really needs its own Terraria.

Not that I've heard. I'm also still waiting for Stars! Supernova Genesis but that's for another thread.

Adjusting plane was easy enough when you're just shooting for the moon. Going to Mars was a royal pain though and I only did it once and my aerobraking attempt was less than perfect.
It's amazing what some of the addon MFDs could let you do in theory though.

...

I fucking loved Orbiter as a kid, best modding community ever
