I've only been invaded twice in dark souls 1 and I beat they asses to the ground, 2nd time was with crystal missiles, magic is fun. Third was a hacker who I dont want to remember

Why did Dark Souls establish an amazingly fun "hybrid PvP" thing, one of the main attractions the game had, and then try to phase it out in subsequent games with things like the removal of unlimited invasion items, more summons to help the host, more easy ways for the host to win, etc.?
No matter how you look at it they're pandering to casuals, which is pathetic for a Dark Souls game.
