What is your opinion on Skyward Sword?
3rd favorite zelda since I enjoy linearity
worst 3d zelda game
Fi is hands down the worst companion in any video game i've played, eldin volcano is one of the worst areas in zelda history.
On the flipside, the one saving grace is lanaryu desert, one of the best areas in zelda history
Pretty good, repetitive sometimes
Hype final boss
had potential, fucked it up with the instancing.
also, much better on an emulator because then it actually looks good. too bad you have to memorise like 40 buttongs for the motion controll. it was like playing an organ, it was glorious.
shit
I hated it until botw came out
I bought a wii motion plus, a bluetooth dongle and a usb infrared bar to play it on dolphin. Am I wasting my time?
boring world, repetitive combat system, bad music, worst Zelda by far, but I haven't played the last one so maybe that one is worse. The bosses are neat.
decent
Id give it a 7/10
Zelda cycle kicking in!
I loved it and hopefully that people would hate BotW and come around to SS. It never happened, the Zelda cycle was broken, and I cry myself to sleep
Here's one.
Each zelda game since 2 has had its gimmicks.
SWS is a game that feels gimmicky because of the motion controls and tried to please both TP fans and WW fans with its awkward artstyle.
Even if it didn't have motion controls it would still be the worst 3D Zelda. It takes rushed to a whole new level.
the beginning was sooooooooo fucking long and dragged out. worst way to do a tutorial. at least botw throws you out into the game immediately.
Amazing game when it released, beautiful art design, wish it weren’t so awfully linear though. Those three characters are great designs imo, and I liked evolving the master sword.
Best Story and depictions of Zelda and Link. Controls are hit or miss, I prefer the linear gameplay more than the open world of BOTW; but i'm in the minority.
Its everything BotW was missing. These games feel like 2 halves a full Zelda game.
While the game had a lot of problems, here are some things that Skyward Sword does OBJECTIVELY better than Breath of the Wild.
>dungeons
>bosses
>key items
>crafting
>music
>characters
>crafting
fuck no, crafting was shit in the game
>music
I have to disagree here too, the music in SS was the most forgettable for me. While BotW isn't at the top, it had a couple of memorable tunes
And environment artstyle/atmosphere. The only reason Breath of the Wild looks good is because of far superior lighting.
Good machanics, used the wiimote to it's full potential.
Dungeon were ok.
The "overworld" was shit tough, which made the traversla between points of interest even worse the WW sailing ,which was boring but comfy.
SS's crafting was way better because it was much more impactful, you could significantly upgrade your entire kit. Whereas most of BotW's crafting is dumped into boring armor upgrades. There's a few other things but they're mostly very lackluster, champion weapons are pretty shit and not worth the investment since they can break.
>you could significantly upgrade your entire kit
which meant absolutely nothing outside of a required upgrade to the beetle. At least with BotW the consumable items are useful and you're not forced to go back to a single city to do it
Absolutely despise the handholding, constant underdogging, and flight controls. Have no problem whatsoever with combat controls. Boss rush can be a lot of fun, especially if Lanayru decides to throw you up against Demise and you speed kill him. I liked the Silent Realms, and the Ancient Cistern is the best dungeon. I wish there was more of a moral discourse between Zelda and Link over Hylia/Zelda's manipulations of Link to get the guy to kill Demise, it would've helped me like their relationship a bit more. Groose was good, and his Groosenator catapult was really damn helpful.
It's shit and every millisecond that doesn't feature Groose is designed to annoy me and only me. It's like some divine joke.
>One quest is literally putting out three fires blocking a 20 foot long path to the next dungeon
Why is linearity so demonized by everyone
there was a period of time where semi-linear games were becoming full on linear and most of them were worse for it. Biggest example are FF13 and metroid other M. This doesn't happen as much today but between, say, 2008-2013 linearity was more cancerous than any game going "open world"
Dis ay
Because open-world = Larger world
Larger world = More content
More content = More effort
More effort = Superior game
is the basic mindset
Has anyone played this successfully on Dolphin without the need of a Motion Plus? Using a controller like a DS4 or Xbone.
