Plus 7.00 basically remade the game and drove out a lot of old fans who loved what it used to be but not what it became.

It'll always hold a playerbase but it clearly peaked and now new games are dragging players away from it.

How did you quit it ?
I was playing wc3 dota, got into dota2 have about 1.5k hours, but i gave it up shorty after the TI3, about 1 year after ranked came out.
Games started to be pain in the pass, literal cointoss which team gets the feeder who feeds couriers from min 0.
Started to get pissed off a lot, then played once in a blue moon, taking 3-4 month breaks.
I haven't played in year and half now.Still watch TI finals and try to keep up with team rosters

I managed to not play dota for 2 years but when life goes to shit I have yet to find something as good as dota at just taking my mind off of things

Lost all interest after 7.0 but was still playing like a zombie for a bit just cos of habbit and steam friends.
Dropped it officially somewhere around the end of last summer and havent looked back with zero itch to reinstall it.And im a guy who plays dota since Warcraft 3:RoC

Literally me.But after my last return last when i saw the state of the game I got disgusted.
Switched to CS:GO and works way better for me, when i need a mindless ""competitive"" game to make me not thing about real life stuff while playing.I dont know why, prolly cos i dont care that much about ranking and shit in CS:GO and never went hardcore like i did in dota, but CS is WAY less nerve-wrecking for me.And the fact that even with complete mongs on the team you can solo carry if you are doing goold helps

I find cs:go to be more demanding though, mic is required, you can't play if you feel sluggish and if you don't perform you might get kicked and lots of vocal salt thrown around etc, way more dudebros in cs, they barely exist in dota. With dota you can spam ranked for 10h straight while barely awake and still do decently. In cs you would derank 2-3 times in that time playing when you shouldn't. At least that's how it is for me.

As a functional human being, i can play with friends, alone, and adapt to the changes. And notice, while some mechanics have changed, the game still has the same gameplay and strats.

7.00 HotS talent tree system ruined the game for me,and as you can see the last time I played it was just to try out the PvE event with the International.

The game has been steadily going into the shitter ever since Valve removed Skeleton King.

TI3 was the peak of esports comfy, the scene started becoming more and more cancerous with each consequential TI, the players started becoming annoying fucks and while the only improved and everything got bigger and "better", it just lost its magic.I stopped played a few years ago but still watched the TIs, but the last one didnt do anything for me, coudlnt care less who wins or loses

Yeah i've yet to encounter anything else that pulls you in entirely so effortlessly, you don't even have to make an effort to care and focus like with other media where it's easy to drift away (if you feel like shit) even if it's good stuff.
