WYVERNS ARE STUPID

Is 3d printing worth getting into? Thinking about doing it and selling custom D&D minis online

Yeah, I really want that single-color wyvern made of cheap plastic.

No, the kind of hobby printers the average consumer can afford have shitty resolution and finishing and are extremely prone to failure. You are better off learning how to sculpt epoxy if you want to get in that market

I believe in order to get a decent quality figure you would need to buy a pretty expensive printer. We got one sale and about 300 bucks for our campaign. The figures are usable, but the quality is pretty shitty and I doubt anyone would want to buy them.

Depends on what you're printing
If you want small but precise, something like op's pic is good but is probably around $1200 or $1500

Regardless of which is better, wyvern or dragon, that is not a wyvern. A wyvern has two back legs and their front two are their wings. A dragon has four legs and a set of wings on their back. That, is a dragon

you want overpriced wyvern made of cheap plastic instead?

In MY setting a wyvern has FOUR hind legs and their wings are on their heads.

I want neither.
But at least I wouldn't have to buy an expensive 3D printer if I bought the wyvern.

No. Consumer grade printers are pretty shit. Without actual knowledge on how to build it you might burn your house down.
I almost did that.

Yeah l bet they use skub too

my paraplegic neighbor really likes his
he makes gearboxes and stuff to use the things in his house more effectively.

in my thesaurus they are synonymous

tell me where you're buying a wyvern that's not single coloured cheap plastic

note that single coloured pewter is only half a point because it's single coloured too

Custom Dragon Dildo.

I would buy ten.

Would you rather fuck a wyvern or a dragon?

I could go to Amazon or any toy store and buy a wyvern that's painted for $10. Why would anyone buy an expensive 3D printer so you can have cheap toys that aren't painted?

or you can print your wyvern for $4 and give some kid $20 to paint it and have a wyvern that you actually want to come home to

printers are as low as under 300 now. I want one but I don't understand how to use them or the extra cost in using them. And what for?

I don't want to come home to a wyvern, because I'm not a DnD faggot.
But even if I did, that 3D printer would cost me $600 and where would I find a kid whose painting skills I could trust?

>visit local gaming place
>check for local commission painters online
>learn to paint
Step the fuck up.

>i want it
>but I have no use for it
You're a stupid man consumed by consumerism.

Why would I go through so much effort for a shitty toy I don't want?

...

It's pretty much useless unless you know how to make 3D-models. I guess you can download models from the internet but that's dumb.

Thats a dragon

I like the hard sell that user is making on how to get your hands on a plastic dragon today

>not printing your own buttplugs.

Well you are oaying fir tbe tools and supplies so...

>original prusa do not steal

I made two Prusa i3s myself

Will the cops come find me?

its 700$

ordered mine 1 month ago, but delivery queue is long, with like 2-3 months of lead time. fuck me. that mk3 printer is so popular, prusa cant keep up with the production

Don't wyverns only have 2 legs?

only furries have this kind of knowledge

Wyverns - two legs, no forearms, low intelligence
Dragons - Four arms, wings, above-human intelligence
Drakes - Arms and legs, no wings - low intelligence but higher than wyverns

>and are extremely prone to failure.
Who gives a shit? They're essentially just a couple of motors, belts and an extruder controlled by an arduino.

Your setting fucking SUCKS!

they do not fail more often than inkjet printers these days, if you have one of the newer self-calibrating 3d printers. you just do minimal maintenance, like keeping the print bed grease-free, and tension the belts once a year. i made me a emulation handheld console with mine

that's a dragon

It's fun, but the quality of the plastic is too low for you to really sell any finished products. It's porous and comparable to milk carton plastic. You're better off going to your local makerspace and renting the CNC mill.

>It's porous and comparable to milk carton plastic
its not porous at all. and its not just one kind of plastic, 3d printers these days can print almost any kind of thermoplastic polymer available. even carbon reinforced materials, pet-g, nearly indestructible nylon, polycarbonate, metal filled polymers, anything polymer manufacturers put into printer filament form.i have printed a brace for my apple tree, and its still going strong after 5 years enduring all kinds of weather conditions, and its just printed from lousy ABS. the crap lego bricks are made of.

>don't mind me just hunting this wyvern

...

is it possible to 3D print a custom onahole with these things?

asking for a friend

No. Because it's hard plastic.

Nibba, lego bricks are invulnerable

not to mention thermoplastic elastomers. you cant break stuff you have printed with that. i printed a pair of flipflops with that

yes it is possible, there are printable elastomers, many different kinds of elastic materials of all hardness grades are available these days. ninjaflex for example ninjatek.com/products/filaments/ninjaflex/

This is DnD rules, far from universal. In fact, most modern artists prefer the sleeker 4-limbed two leg design for their top-of-the-foodchain dragons.
If you look to ancient mythology there's a better case to be made for dragons to be limbless snakes than any other body structure. The only source that supports the wyvern/dragon body structure distinction is medieval heraldry. But heraldry had stupid iconography rules like having the distinction between a lion and a panther be which direction it was facing.

as ridiculous at that sea horse is i want something like that in a game right now

There has to be some campy fantasy stuff that uses imagery like this.
