>tfw none of my friends or family take vidya seriously
serious question Sup Forumsbros, how do we cope with the fact that our hobby will eternally be considered a childish waste of time?

look at their hobbies/interests with the same level of disdain
>childish waste of time?
cus it is
if you honestly believe in your post OP you have autism
good news
your parents will die in your lifetime !
Videogames aren't a hobby, they're a pastime. Nobody will ever be impressed with you playing a videogame. You don't produce anything worthwhile or learn any impressive skills playing videogames. To call it the same thing as a hobby is an insult to the term
Whats your hobby user?
I like cabinetmaking and baking. Paint miniatures when I can too
>taking vidya seriously
I spend most of my free time playing video games but who the fuck "takes vidya seriously"?
we all have autism here. we all waste our time playing with childrens toys, forming brand loyalty over them, discussing them online. it's our identity. we are autistic as fuck f.am
Nigger are you gatekeeping the word "hobby"? Here, let me open up a dictionary
Hobby- noun
1. an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.
Sounds like video games to me
Doodling on muh gunplas aint no hobby
Just make friends with other gamers, I tend not to concern myself with people who think it's childish because odds are they didn't come up with that opinion themselves, hence their opinions aren't really worth my time
If they can't deal with the fact you have a hobby in something they don't hold in high regard, especially in a severe manner like in OP's pic, then treat those mother fuckers with same ridicule and disdain they give you.
One shouldn't have to receive that level of contempt and believe they aren't allowed to return the favor.
mates, there is nothing in the nature of video games that make them "childish". did you know Atari originally marketed it's games to everyone, to adults to children?
>You don't learn any impressive skills playing videogames
You can get instrument rated in a flight sim these days, user.
I assume by "take seriously" you mean to take an interest in them?
Ultimately its because in their day and age, games were marketed as toys. I mean, technically they still are in a way, but the very concept of an epic quest like monster hunter or zelda is completely alien to them - their frame of reference is shit like space invaders and pong. They see games a little time waster exercise because thats were games were back in the day, no-one competed in Pong tournaments with a million dollar prize like e-sports are today.
It doesn't help that mobile gaming with stuff like candy crush still keeps the idea of a game as a simple repetitive activity, as opposed to an epic quest or tangible skill.
Ultimately they just don't understand, and they either
A) Don't care enough about you to learn about your interests
B) Are so techno-phobic that your interests scare them
C) You're bad at conveying yourself/your interests
I tried so hard to get my dad into vidya again, he used to play a lot with me, ps1 and early ps2, but he lost it somehow, a few months ago he tried to play again, but he is unable to move both stick from the joystick at the same time, guess he is done with this shit already
Tell that to the winners of e-sport competitions or people who run gaming channels. Oh no wait, they're millionaires and you just sit in your basement painting figurines like an autistic man child.
Fuck those parents for doing that
...
There is however something autistic in the nature of being a 21 year old human being who can't hold conversation with his own family, who seeing as they still care about him enough to have this dinner and cake, are probably correct in their portrayal of him as somebody who just sits down playing on his computer all day.
...
If they're certain about their portrayal of him, why would they nag and force him to go out to celebrate when, in context of the story, it was made clear he didn't want to go socialize?
There is something autistic about not understanding people are different in personality.
Did you just make that or did you save it? Either way you got me user
Made it a while back for another thread with the same image.
>being such a pedestrian motherfucker you need to identify with a hobby
Do things because you enjoy them, not because you need something to put on your twitter bio
>cope with the fact that our hobby will eternally be considered a childish waste of time?
By realizing everyone else's hobby is also a childish waste of time.
Good job on the OC user
