Adventure's backgrounds are so pretty

Agreed. Odyssey, ironically, did the "completely out of left field" thing in the most bland way possible

most were more interested in the Amazing Mirror itself showing up. There was also the usual few "I want to fuck that" posters.

And see, even by all accounts Tropical Freeze is a gorgeous game and superbly blends backgrounds into gameplay via the platforming.
But for some reason, I just don't feel impressed playing like I would looking at DKC2&3's backgrounds.

I finished Amazing Mirror for the first time like a week ago. I really really loved it. Easily top 5.
Only gripe is shit copy ability system where only 3 abilities are fun and varied

It is both. There is nothing creative about it, and the majority of the content is not fun. By its own merits it's not good. Compared to spin-offs like Air Ride and Canvas Curse, it's bad.

Old Kirby is a super good pleb filter.

Liking Kirby 64 is a mental illness. It's too hard to play well with these shitty limited abilities, the enemies hit you too easily, and I hate how I have to play the levels again if I miss something in them, that's terrible game design.
