Friendly reminder that buying ports, remakes and remasters helps to create a market environment where publishers are incentivized to preserve great games from older generations and ensure that they are playable on modern hardware.

It's low effort cash grab aimed at the braindead. If you buy shit like this you are the cancer killing video games.
You know, when you include an actual argument with your post, it goes a long way in making you look a lot less triggered.
Why would you want developers to take the easy way milking you when you could have new games?
If you can't play the originals you unironically need to kill yourself since you are obviously not fit to live.
>people are making money doing less work
>this is such a bad thing that it's worth throwing out the entire practice of preserving old games with the bathwater
There is literally no reason to """preserve""" video games you stupid fucking faggot. It's a waste of resources that could go into new games.
>rewarding publisher for killing devs (with a gun)
You're betting your enjoyment on new games being better than old games.
oh yeah, those 5 to 10 guys who ported that old game will surelly impede the development of a game that needs a 500+ team of developers.
The old games will still be there you autistic mouthbreathing cockgoblin, you can play them any time you want. You are so fucking retarded I want to curbstomp you.
Good job not knowing shit about anything.
oh I forgot that those missing $10,000 will surely make a diference on that new game with a $50,000,000+ budget.
>you can play them any time you want
Sure, I just have to illegally download an emulator that was stitched together by five dudes from three separate countries that coordinated the entire project in IRC.
A lot of official ports are bad too, but at least a market exists to punish the people who release those ports--by the way, don't buy the new Chrono Trigger port.
Jesus christ, just how underage are you?
Sure, keep funding trash then. I have nothing more to say to imbecile fucks like you.
underage, really user, you're the one who wants more CoD and open world bullshit in the not me, with ports at least normies can play something for a change.
Sure, keep funding creatively bankrupt "spiritual successors" as they cash in on other people's good ideas and the public's inability to legally access them.
>if you don't buy garbage you must love CoD XD
Good job, buddy.
Same goes for you, I don't buy shit games either.
Go ahead and keep buying the same games over and over again because you are 16 and were too young to play them on release you babby.
So you DO like open world bullshit games, fuck off todd.
Hi pot, name's kettle
I know you only meant that as a harmless ad hominem, but seriously, what about younger gamers? Why should they be restricted from playing good games?
No.
What?
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK RESTRICTS THEM YOU BRAINDEAD FAGGOT?
THE FUCKING LAW YOU PIECE OF SHIT
...
Yeah dude, you totally can't buy old systems if you were that much of a retarded fucking moralfag. I wish I could find out where you live. You simply don't deserve to live. Does your mother come into your room every once in a while to remind you not to forget to breathe?
I enjoy being angry too much.
it shows dude
yeah, go buy that$110+ SNES and that gorrilion dollar original copy of chrono trigger that probably doesn't even work anymore!
>muh rehashes are teh future, goyim
(((soynigger))) detected
>$110 is a lot for a console
Ah, so you really are underage.
sorry missed a 0
Nope, it should be around that price child.
You can't honestly be suggesting that buying a $300 console on Ebay is better for the industry than shelling out $20 on a "lazy" port for a console you already own and use.
Look, you can either choose to disobey the law, or pay an exorbitant amount of dosh on a secondhand piece of hardware. Either way, that's a barrier to entry. You can call me lazy, but this isn't about me. What I do has little bearing on the market as a whole. The fact is that most people can't or don't want to do what you're suggesting, and you want those people to be excluded from enjoying the games you love because... I dunno, you're a xenophobe or something?
Nintendo is about to release a shit load of remasters on Switch. So no. This isn't a Sony thread. The timing is wrong.
I don't give a fuck about the industry, I only care about myself. I don't want shit I played already.
Keep portbegging you worthless shitstain.
>I don't give a fuck about the industry
>If you buy shit like this you are the cancer killing video games.
>Why would you want developers to take the easy way milking you when you could have new games?
>It's a waste of resources that could go into new games.
>Sure, keep funding trash then.
I apologize if any of these posts are not you. There's a lot of bullshit flying around this thread
Why even buy games then
You are killing video games/the industry for ME. Stop showing devs that it's okay to make remakes and remasters by shoveling that shit down your uneducated dumb fucking throat so they might make something that's actually worth playing.
Mostly for access to multiplayer. Sometimes I'm just too lazy to pirate and steam is already running.
Nah you fucking kid, if you don't buy the fucking games and instead you pirate them, you have no fucking right to complain.
I don't support shit unlike you. Moralfags should all be publicly executed, you do not possess critical thinking.
I vote with my wallet, you're just a hypocrite
This guy gets it, one of my biggest fears is good games being trapped on dead or dying consoles, never to be played again.
I want to pat that doggo.
So do I, it's just that there is nothing worthy of my vote, not in recent years anyway. And this new fucking wave of the same old garbage is certainly not helping.
No, I agree, all modern AAA games are shit, but thst doesn't mean i pirate them, you know? I just don't really support that
That would be because you are fucking retarded.
>oh, I'm just going to skip this console's whole library because big daddy didn't port it over ;_;
Alright then, I guess this is where we get to the central disagreement on the matter. Took us long enough, thanks to your uncooperative ass, but I think we're making progress.
Here's where I lay it all out to you friend. I honestly believe with all my heart that if older games were easier for people to get their hands on, the overall quality of new games released would significantly improve.
Not only would it be easier for younger devs to study the works of their predecessors, but more importantly it would improve the public's overall "video game literacy" and cause them to hold devs to a higher standard. We would get less rehashes filling a niche and more genuine improvements and variations on classic themes.
Maybe you're right, and there would indeed be fewer new games released a year. But those games would be BETTER, and I honestly believe that's worth it. Maybe you want to have as many new games to play as possible. But if you want devs to do what you want, you're going to have to start shelling out, because you're never going to convince someone who prefers quality over quantity to change his mind.
yah dudes, let's buy sotc every gen brevs
what are these young ones going to do without experiencing a REAL walking/climbing simulator
This is why everything should be on PC. I don't mean that in a console war way. I'm glad certain games get to live on a bit longer, but the business behind some I don't like. Once a game is on PC, it's pretty much there forever. Maybe not through Steam, but it will be available.
Young people and people new to video games CAN'T buy sotc every gen. They can only buy it THIS GEN.
You're intentionally lumping together two unrelated groups to make your strawman more ridiculous.
But YOU have to buy it every gen so as to """""preserve""""" it for the younger generations. I seriously hope you are doing your part!
Friendly reminder that supporting your local emulator devs does all that and more without desecrating the games themselves for entire console LIBRARIES for the same income incentive it takes for the game companies to make a bastardized version of ONE game
>buying games that work worse on modern hardware
>buying games that get shit on with suposedly better graphics
Nah, and old consoles will never die clones can be made, just look at that shit super NT
A lot of emulators like the psp one and cemu are better products than 90% of the AAA garbage out there.
get the fuck off Sup Forums
This thread wasn't meant to coerce people into buying games they already own out of the goodness of their own hearts. I just wanted to remind Sup Forums that some good can come from ports and that you shouldn't feel like a chump for buying a game you could easily emulate.
I'm not asking you to buy the same game every gen. It's a stupid thing to ask, it's a stupid thing to do, and it's a stupid thing for publishers to expect gamers to do when budgeting projects and projecting sales.
But... What's wrong with the people who DO buy SotC every gen? The people who genuinely love the game, and want as many other people as possible to at least give it a try? How are they making videogames worse for you, specifically?
>WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK RESTRICTS THEM
>NEW PC PARTS OR OS'S
>NEW CONSOLES
>LACK OF COMPATIBILITY WITH NEWER SYSTEMS
>GAMES GETTING PULLED DUE TO LICENCING
>OLD PLATFORMS EITHER BREAKING DOWN OR BECOMING HARD TO FIND/EXPENSIVE
>EMULATION NOT BEING UP TO SNUFF
HOW FUCKING STUPID ARE YOU
That's lucky.
Tell me, what do you do when you download a bad emulator? Do you ask for your money back?
>illegally download an emulator
Did mom forget to turn off the computer again?
If a majority of a console's library is just ports (even more if I've played it on the original console already) without any actual new games or IPs, I'd get bored. It's good if the ports are hidden gems and have been made with great care. On this note, Silent Hill HD collection fucked up.
On the other hand, it's a good opportunity to introduce a new generation to old games they've otherwise not bothered to look at.
You get the fuck off of Sup Forums if you believe video games need to be rereleased every fucking year otherwise you can't play them.
You can play doom on a fucking fridge, stop being a retarded mouthbreather. You can get around everything you listed, you just have to stop being LITERALLY braindead.
Do you have any idea what the fuck you're talking about?
>durr we shouldn't preserve old games because I'm retarded
fuck off and die retard
>You can get around everything you listed
buy a copy of Scott Pilgrim right now
It's better with they just include backwards compatibility, so the library isn't invalidated. Why waste an inordinate amount of time trying to port everything to every generation when hardware designers can do it in one fell swoop?
because some devs are lazy, greedy cunts (PS4)
and some literally can't due to a change in how the system works (Switch)
If the Switch used disks they would have had backwards compatibility. As of right now only Microsoft is doing it.
As much as people care about BC, you will see thousands of mouthbreathers claim it's not important because
>not enough people use it so don't include it
Never even heard of this shit meme game. By the time it becomes too expensive to grab old console garbage, emulation will work fine.
If not, like the case with this literally what shit you might have to wait a couple of years. Or you could just stop playing bad games, child.
>I get proven wrong but ur the child because I said so
I'm not going to argue with the retarded because you will drag me down to your level and beat me with experience
Except that remasters and remakes more often than not damage the original work of art. And ports are often filled with new bugs.
See:
>SOTC Remade
>Fable Anniversary
>Final Fantasy anything
>Ratchet and Jak collections
>Assassin's Creeds
>Even the Zelda re-releases
>proven wrong
I just showed you it can be emulated. Do you have brain problems?
Nu-Sup Forums the post.
I said buy not emulate, you cannot fucking buy the game anymore due to licencing horseshit, and emulation is the only way to play these games, as you demonstrated. But emulation is not only imperfect, but several consoles either have shit tier emulation or none at all, it's going to take fucking years to emulate them properly.
There are games that can't be emulated, or purchased and so require piracy as a means to get them. If you can't see the value in finding a "legal" way to save games from this fate then you are beyond helpless.
Not him but the vast majority of games can be emulated perfectly so your argument falls flat.
Yeah, buying the 5th remake of sotc is certainly going to help get this fucking garbage beatemup remade. You have no argument. Emulating that gen of console is for sure shit at the moment, buying a modded one however should be cheaper than one of your remakes and you get access to the entire library.
Right you are, user! And with that mindset, it would do a great service if you, and anyone else in this thread, could help set a game on that path today. You would make this user's heart happy by helping out.
