Into the Breach

Great game.

>shitty game design
>great game
Please explain.

Sarcasm.

But what's bad about the game design?

it's from the makers of FTL ;))

The disabled unit is destroying the train next turn right as I was about to win

>basically copies the board game VOLT mechanic for mechanic

I really enjoyed FTL. Is this game shit? Is there a GoG (pirateable) version?

reminds me of the games you'd see in the era of flip phones

>leave a wreck on the tracks
>surprised when the train crashes
Maybe don't lose your units?

so is it a long campaign or made for several playthroughs like FTL?

i love squad management games (ddungeon, xcom) so I'll get this sooner or later

Sounds like you need to git gud.
>whines that the game punishes you for playing poorly
kek

several playthroughs. you keep a dude throughout different playthroughs (assuming he doesnt die). and you unlock new mini-armies through achievements with previous ones, like ships in FTL

The game is basically half puzzle half strategy game, you just cant power through everything

How am I supposed to tell when a bug will blow up?
Fuck this game.

mad cuz ur bad (and have zero awareness)

it's ok
I think the seamless transition between the mainscreen and the "level" is very cute and comes across as impressive despite how little memory and power it requires for a tiny game like this.

tries to be a strategy game, becomes a puzzle game instead lmao

Every other site is singing the praises, so it's probably shit. It is on GOG though, so pirate away and form your own opinion.

lmao back to counter-strike now i guess xD

sounds good, thanks

cs is basically strategy with smokes and "camping" unless you're still learnign to use mouse

i dont like slot machines

It looks incredibly boring, even more so than FTL

>manage to finish all islands
>get to last battle
>the last fucking round for me with the bomb
>i forgot that the environment comes first and thats why I shielded something that didnt need shielding because the dash bug went into the lava
>lose because of 1 little mistake
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I can't tell if I like this game or not. I don't think I'm really having fun.

fortunately there's even less random events that will fuck you. just the occasional random pod to grab in a mission before the enemy for random loot.

Definitely a step back from FTL.

Same. There are some great concepts, but straight up losing because of one mistake gets old fast.

dont make mistakes. its like its something you get better at over time instead of just being the best right away. weird

how do you defend the robots if they attack your own buildings?

>Game constantly puts you in unwinnable scenarios

That is nowhere near fun, and that is the whole point.

When did Sup Forums get so bitchy about logical outcomes in games? Did you hate the fact that in C&C Generals trains could destroy units?

thats subjective. Im enjoying it

>getting gud is not fun

Did you beat mothership at the first try in ftl?

Push them or tank the shot

i'll stick with FTL.

You could push the robot with your mech if you weren't so stupid.

Train would still get hit anyway because the firefly fires before the train moves.

Do you like actually lose lose because of one mistake or just one mission? Like in XCOM you can have your guys die or even lose the mission but still beat the game.

If your squad isn't equipped to deal no damage you should just avoid going to any map that has the keep enemy robots alive objective, you're just praying they target your guys instead of the grid otherwise.

You can lose lose. You get an undo turn button once every mission though.

is that a GBA game?

wtf advertisements have gone too far

>be bad
>go cry with other contrarians on Sup Forums
You must be a true brainlet to dislike this game because it punishes you for making """"minor"""" """"""mistakes"""""". Imbeciles.

this game isn't very fun

i fucking wish it was Advance Wars 3

i kinda miss the rng part from ftl

this mech fuckin sucks

which squads are good?

tried the self damage guys but they suck ass "high damage" my ass

cloud crew seems good, plane seems stupidly good especially with the smoke immune girl

Sup Forums is complaining about RNG, which means its well designed and challenging

Hold down ctrl to get more info the big brain bugs all modify other bugs with the orange one adding explosions

you see his buff happen when they enter the fight

>only possible winning move forced me to sacrifice 2 of my guys
worth it though

I really like the squad that has Metal Gear Rex.

you only lose if the power bar reaches 0, which is near impossible to do in 1 mission since it only goes down when a building takes damage

pilots can die but mechs always come back since pilots are just for buffs

So, is this worth $15 if I like FTL and Advance Wars? Or is the price too high for what you get?

The game might visually resemble advance wars, but it's almost nothing like it. It's more like a puzzle game than a strategy one honestly.

that the other 2 coin squad?

smug fucker

pirate the gog version and find out, seems worth from what ive played so far today

Its nothing like FTL and more of a puzzle game than anything else, but it can be interesting.
Just torrent it first and try it out. I'd wait for it to go on sale, personally. Its not really a "must-have" buy.

Blitzkrieg is stupidly good, just make sure to get the building bounce upgrade on the lightning mech.

>Went into the game expecting FF tactics meets Pacific rim
>Instead I get puzzle game with mecha skin
hmmm. I really should have done more research.

passing a turn should auto repair imo, is there any reason you wouldn't want to repair damage if you have no actions that turn?

It's no advance wars. It's a good game but not advance wars. I'm not really sure it's worth $15, probably better around $5-10.

>that the other 2 coin squad?
I don't remember how much they costed, it's the Zenith Guard squad I was talking about, the laser is pretty sweet and the mech that helps with positioning is really useful.

I was having fun with it before i had to leave to be a wagie.

Seems like it suffers the same kind of issues that FTL did in that normal is a bit too hard and easy is more like normal should be, maybe even a bit too easy. Overall it's pretty neat though.

tf is FF

This game's really easy on normal desu, especially if you're using one of the decent squads and not the gimmick ones. All the crying about RNG is reminding me how much of a shitter the average Sup Forums user is.

favorite island?

>people moan about RNG
>take out RNG and people moan you have a puzzle game

>start game
>half the units die in like 3-4 turns due to map

I just found out you can mix and match mechs of different series and even have multiple of the same type. This changes everything.

easy's way too easy because it's half the spawn rate, meaning that you aren't even outnumbered most of the time

Tempted to play it though just to unlock some more squads

There's even different achievements for it

random, and custom crews also have their own achievements for coins

2 smoke cloud jets and the smoke cloud artillery

you're welcome

There's at least one pilot ability that makes a mech perform a push on tiles around you, you most likely wouldn't want that triggering automatically

I personally just keep the actions available warning on even if it means an extra click at times, had too many accidental space bar presses ending turns way earlier than intended without it

I hope you guys don't actually consider this game too hard. It's got a fair bit of challenge, but come on Sup Forums. I expected better.

...

What's crazy is that FTL was already a massive pleb-outer, this game is easier then FTL and people are still crying about difficulty.

Forgot to actually say the pilot push ability I mentioned triggers on repair

Liked it for about 4 hours. Beat the game 3 times, failed once. Didn't really find it hard, but this was on normal. Maybe hard is actually hard or something.

Got pretty bored with it though. The teams besides the default one seem to just make the game harder, because they're all variations of higher-risk higher-reward, which is not good in a game that's all about minimizing risk.

I guess if you like puzzle games with increasingly varied and difficult puzzles then it's pretty good, but it doesn't tickle the same itch as FTL at all.

Neat, thanks.Just picked it up. This looks exactly what Ive been itching to play.

Shoot the wreck with your tank to move it you dumbass.

the goo boss splits into smaller goo

wtf i did not figure this would happen!!!!!!

It's a one handed game right?

if you want to yes

>Boot up game
>Too difficult, too slow, no depth
>Close game

quickest 20 minutes of my life

you forgot
>No soul

Nah it's great once you give it an upgrade to make buildings immune to damage. Then it's a fucking LIFESAVER.

I feel like 3 mechs is too few to really do any kind of cool combos. 4 would be the perfect squad.

>easy as fuck turn-based puzzle game for children
>>>too difficult
everybody who voluntarily posts on this board should be purged
including me

A team of 3 combat mechs kick ass.

>for children

This game is fucking trash. Just lost again for no good reason other than the game decided to give me a no-win scenario.

Yeah fuck this game I'm going back to Metal Gear Survive.

Anti-capitalistic propaganda at its finest

>open FTL
>see ad
>"hmm, neat, maybe I'll check it out later"
>back to FTL
>fucking space spiders eat one of my crew members
>get assraped by hacking drone + beam drone
>barely make it out alive
>friendly cruiser I was defending blips away without rewarding me
Yep, I think I'll pass on this once if its more of the same RNG bullshit

ItB is like anti-RNG
