What a "fuck you" of an ending

What a "fuck you" of an ending.
Why were people OK with it?

And then all the humans died the end.

>Implying every ending has to be happy

PS they survived cuz Adventure Kids

>>Implying every ending has to be happy
It's not about the happiness, it's about the badly delivered ambiguity.

It was five hundred years into the future.
It was established that Nanaki's race lives really fucking long.
The fact that RedXIII is alive 500 years later and Midgar is still mostly standing suggests that Meteor was stopped completely by Holy.
It's a pretty damn happy ending where you can imagine everyone lived a happy/full/whatever life after stopping Jenova and purifying Sephiroth (before the Compilation stuff is created).

...

I'm mostly disappointed because this ending allowed for AC to be made

this

>Shows the world survived
>Red XIII wasn't the last of his kind

It was a happy ending

I just rewatched this and hey turns out it's still FUCKING STUPID

The scene where Sephiroth impales Cloud through the limbs over and over again though was kind of neat

But who was the mother?

Did Red go to the woods to fuck random encounters?

Emphasis on "the world". It's like the ending of Mother 3 except the game at least tells you some people survived the initial disaster

Not that it matters since AC retconned the fuck out of it by having everyone live.

this

In a typical japanese fashion, the nihilistic ending where humanity was in shambles/extinct and the furry bait character survived and propagated, is considered a good one.
It is not hard to understand.

fucking hated that ending back in 1998, a classmate told me how his big brother snapped the disc after finishing the game.

>Not that it matters since AC retconned the fuck out of it by having everyone live.

Aeirs.

>Red came into the lifestream again and again and again

this, but ironically

I hated this part more. You think there's something waiting for you but there isn't. I once left my console up for days just to see if there's something there.

youre literally just too retarded to understand the ending.

Buganhagen explained that Holy will destroy anything harming the planet, that mean the Meteor and...maybe all of humankind for being fuckwits and killing the planet. So Cloud and co go save the planet knowing very well they might die even if everything goes their way. The ending is left open to interpretation except for this ending showing that obviously Cloud and co stopped the end of the world, despite maybe dying right after.

Then they made AC and shit all over everything

>youre literally just too retarded to understand the ending.
retard don't call me a retard

retard dont call me a retard for calling you a retard

How's that even a question

Yep, this was my understanding.

>Cloud railed Tifa had some kids, they were happy
>500 years later, long after Cloud, Tifa and the entirety of Shrina had been dead for 400ish years then Red XIII and his kids go and see the ruins of where meteor destroyed Midgar.

There is though

This is a great ending though
It's like Blade Runner's ending.
The entire point of the game was that humans are merely bystanders on the stage of time.
Regardless of the outcome of the story, it would have shown you what the world looked like 500 years later and if Sephiroth had won, there would still be no humans, only there wouldn't be anything else either.
How ironic that after all of this manipulation, power play and destruction (especially of the environment) the victor, is, in the end, simply mother nature.

The laughing at the end was supposed to imply everyone survived. Midgar was in ruins because everyone abandoned it.

so what is he anyway? a dog thing? it's important if i'm gonna imagine him pounding me

It's different when it's a game that ends this way, as opposed to a book or a movie.
