I want to get into some classic Soul Calibur, but I don't know where to start.
Should I play 2 first or head into 3 instead?

Only Soul Edge and the first Soul Calibur are good.

2 is better than both, it's also the only good SC game.

Soul Edge is fucking baller, play that OP.

Play Soul Edge first. It's old and basic compared to the first Soul Calibur but it's a solid game with an amazing soundtrack.

>Soul Blade/Edge
Lots of stupid shit but was overall a pretty good game, a nice start to the series.

>Soul Calibur
Fantastic game, fixed many of the problems with the first game and refined and expanded on many mechanics, looked absolutely amazing for its time.

>Soul Calibur 2
Horribly dumbed down version of SC1, focus on a "wider audience" gameplay depth was removed in favor of adding guest characters as a selling point, many bugs such as Gstep and 2G make this already painfully slow game even worse.

>Soul Calibur 3
HORRIBLE game received zero testing has even more bugs than SC2, completely unplayable mess. the
>Arcade Edition
fixes most of these bugs and adds new characters.

>Soul Calibur 4
Fixed various problems with the series but added a retarded physics engine that had no place in a fighting game, this led to many infinite juggles and instant ring out combos.

>Soul Calibur 5
By far the best game in the series, goes back to its SC1 roots, ads depth and solid mechanics over stupid minigames, expands on many of the original mechanics, overall a great game.

>2
>2G and GS bugs: the game
>Good

0/10

>it's ok if it is shit if it's the first game in the series!

terrible taste user

SoulCal II HD. Play it. Now.

This is bait.

Spotted the nintenfag that bought the game just to play as Link

soul blade is a very interesting start but not the best game ever.
sc1 is when the series got popular finally thanks to the console port adding content out the ass.
sc2 improved the movesets immensely. it was also on every game system and basically exploded

sc3 and beyond is where shit got questionable, but sc3 did stand out for having custom characters for the first time and lots of custom character-only movesets
namco basically ditched the series for tekken and its just not the same anymore

This is bait

How autistic do you have to be to spread your shit opinions in every single sc thread

TRANSCENDING HISTORY AND THE WORLD

Still one of my fav 90s game intros.

Take your shit opinions and fuck off back to reddít you underage casual

3 has the best custom character maker and that neat RTS mode.

If you want to play 2 play the GC version, Link is the best guest fighter.

This is bait

Spotted the edgy Microshill who bought the game just for Todd McFarlane's Sonichu. and was let down

>Xbawks version couldn't render Spawn's cape
>PS2 version literally just copypasted Heihachi from Tekken

There's a reason the GameCube version was the most popular version.

>SoulCal II HD. Play it. Now.

HD is a shitty version of SCII. Dolphin emulator version is better.

2 is the best, 5 is shit. You're underage

The only real problem with 3 is the terrible balance and the crippling bugs... Arcade version fixed it, more or less, but good luck getting that.

4 is almost as imbalanced, but but Broken Destiny is pretty good.

5 is half finished. I absolutely detest the super meter and how it's used, but the gameplay itself is not objectively bad (it's pretty good in fact).
