>games don't even need crack
are they suckers?
Games don't even need crack
No, the people who buy from them are the suckers.
They're honest people. If I had money to buy games, I would buy preferentially from gog.
>DRM-Free
But I already play DRM free games on Steam.
What makes the GoG client so special?
You don't need any client to run games!
drm-free doesn't mean they are dumb desu
>are they suckers?
No.I prefer to buy my games from them.
>inb4 sucker
No.I am not a sucker i simply like to show my support by buying the games that i like.GOG is the best platform for me right now.
like clockwerk
Precracked.
goggames.goodolddownloads.com
yeah, pretty much.
>hugely successful business model because people just buy games
They're fine. Further proving that piracy is of no consequence for the industry.
Noob here.
How do I pirate safely? Like how to not download malware and viruses with the game? I'm guessing ruining trough files with aniti-virus doesn't cut it?
Check the comments and have anti-virus
This and everyone who defends DRM should kill himself.
>TW3 is DRM free
>yet it outsells everything else
DRM is a sham.
Apply common sense. You'd be surprised how effective it is.
>are they suckers?
steam is worst
18+ board.
lurk more
>board
Entire website, kiddo.
>lurk more
Nice meme buzzwords.
I've been posting on Sup Forums for 5 years but got in to PC gayman few months ago
lurk more you fucking faggot
>he thinks 5 years is a long time
it's never enough. you'd know that if you remembered the original meme, which i do, because i was there for it.
>lurk more
I don't think anybody lurks in this day and age.
>Steam
>DRM free
KEK! Good one, user!
>because i was there for it
I'm so honored that you blessed us with your shining presence, oh blessed oldfag.
Next step is to make a trip and register Reddit account.
I've actually seen a resurgence in people telling others to lurk in recent months.
It felt like I was the only one from 2011-2016 telling anyone to lurk, and every time I did I would get fucking excoriated for daring to suggest that people should study the customs and etiquette of a community before sticking their cock into it. Now there seems to be a lot more support for the sentiment.
It might just be in my head, but I think Sup Forums has gotten better over the last little while. I think Sup Forums replacing Sup Forums and becoming new-Sup Forums - i.e. a rough-and-tumble gateway that most new users enter through - has been good for the site, even if the Sup Forumsposting is annoying.
I think when Sup Forums lost its relevance, but before Sup Forums replaced it, people tended to go straight from the outer internet into the niche boards like Sup Forums and /tg/, and they didn't learn the overarching board culture first. (I know Sup Forums is hardly a small board, but it still a niche board). Sup Forums is acting like a gatekeeper the way Sup Forums used to do, and I'm glad for that.
I really want to write an "oral" history of Sup Forums. This website is so interesting, and all of our memes and collective experience will be lost in time as users die, forget, or leave, unless it's written down. Maybe it's better that way, but it still saddens me to think of all the things that have been lost.
It might be sad, but I'm passionate about this website.
>Games have intrusive DRM
>WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS BULLSHIT I'M PIRATING GAMES NOW
>GoG offers their games with no DRM
>LOL CHECK THESE SUCKERS OUT PIRACY JUST GOT EASIER COMRADES
Reminder that gaming is shit now because of the audience just as much as the companies
>I'm so honored that you blessed us with your shining presence, oh blessed oldfag.
honoured*
Why even try pirate-proofing it when pirates will crack it anyway?
It's as pointless waste of effort just like war on drugs.
WHY ARE THERE FIVE THREADS ON THIS SHIT TOPIC
They're suckers for getting more value? Steamfag buyer's remorse is baffling.
>DRM free games on Steam
I haven't visited it in a while, but this thread made me check skidrowreloaded to look up on some new pc games, only to find that it's down? Then I went to the pcgamesdownload site and it's down as well. When did this happen? Where else can I get my pc crack updates?
It's mostly a result of corporate politics. As with many things in life, the blame can be laid squarely on men in suits.
When I try to download anything from there it sends me some weird obfuscated URL with an unknown protocol. What gives?
Shit like snyij://mcjvfjlwj.vfm/g/kLrP that doesn't do anything, and the string of letters always changes when I refresh.
Steam itself is a DRM platform, you always need to be logged into your account on the client to run the game even offline.
what game? because I'm not getting that.
Modern games on big sites have like 0,1% chance on malware, just because all the release groups are busy getting the games out as fast as possible.
When it comes to old games you check comments from the community first and start the exe in a secure environment if you're still not sure. Same goes for trainers and patches etc.
As for downloading itself...protect your IP or let someone else ddl it for you.
why would anyone be stupid enough to run the steam_virus.exe to play games they don't own when GOG exists? it's 2018. i pick who gets to sell my data.
What? He's saying you're stupid to buy it from them when you can get it for free.
Retard.
They understand that extensive DRM is wasted money.
this
Dungeon keeper 2, I got it from somewhere else.
>What? He's saying you're stupid to buy it from them when you can get it for free.
If you were going to pirate you're going to do it anyway, you're an idiot.
Thanks asshat, you made me look.
having a triple-digit IQ is a good first step, brainlet
Imagine being this autistic
Let's be a little more specific shall we...
>Denuvo Software Solutions GmbH, a company formed through the management buyout (MBO) of Sony DADC DigitalWorks
>Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation (Sony DADC) aka Sony Music
>Sony Music...Doug Morris (Chairman)
>Doug Morris (born November 23, 1938)...Born to Jewish parents
Always the same sad story!
nigga you don't need to into PC gaming to know how to pirate stuff
how much of a brainlet are you?
Pirating video file is one thing. Pirating folder with bunch of shit you don't understand is completely different
Should I be evil and tell you that your favorite video file format (mkv) is a actually a container with countless files you don't understand...
>We released [The Witcher 3] without any copy protection," Iwiński says, via Kotaku. "So, on day one, you could download the game from GOG, and give it to a friend (enemy as well)... and still we sold near to ten-million units across all three platforms. But the piracy factor was irrelevant, because we cannot force people to buy things.
>We can only convince them to do it.
pcgamesn.com
Based.
Pretty based
I remember that night Witcher 3 released fondly, was so hyped
this desu
delete this
And? What's the verdict?
Up and running...what did you expect?
Steam
>One time activation
>Sales
>Offline mode
>The game is registered to you and only you
GOG
>No activation
>Paying for a pirated copy
>Only offline mode supported
>You only get the download link, the game isn't registered to yourself and every copy is the same
I'm tired of this thread, GOG users are truly retarded who also probably use linux for "gaming"
>So many newfags 4/5 responses take it seriously
Motherfuck
...
>The game is registered to you and only you
No it isn't.
>Paying for a pirated copy
??? The devs pirated their own game?
>Only offline mode supported
what does this even mean?
>and every copy is the same
This is literally true with every digital platform.
>gog
>paying to pirate games
you click and download. ez pz
don't trust russian though
I hope you support other people, otherwise there is absolutely no excuse for not being able to afford games regardless of what kind of job you have
who paid you guys? Shouldn't you stay on your cancer platform?
this is my cancer platform
not entirely true.
There is a portion of games on Steam that are DRM free.
Well, MODERN DRM free.
Any game that runs in DOSBox from steam cannot have DRM, or Valve would need to provide the source code of the DLL that hooks into it, so they just don't even bother adding DRM to them.
Some will work by just adding a text file to the folder with the App ID in it:
steam.wikia.com
I get this on either site, using the latest firefox.
Steam
>DRM
>Forces to use a bloated client
>has existed since 2003 but offline mode wasn't functional until 10 years later
>developers can enforce other drms on top of it
>Can't download older builds
>Can't make functional backups of games
>$15=€15
wew
>GOG
>>No activation
GOG has an account system and GOG Galaxy.
>>Paying for a pirated copy
They are officially licensed and legal.
>>Only offline mode supported
GOG Galaxy client supports cloud saves.
>>You only get the download link, the game isn't registered to yourself and every copy is the same
GOG Galaxy.
yeah man. the smart gamer only uses Origin.
>Steam
>>DRM
On some games, yes.
>>Forces to use a bloated client
The client WAS bloated. in 2003. Now it's irrelevant, resource wise.
>>has existed since 2003 but offline mode wasn't functional until 10 years later
Don't buy titles with DRM on steam, then?
>>developers can enforce other drms on top of it
Don't buy titles with DRM on steam, then?
>>Can't download older builds
Why would you need to?
>>Can't make functional backups of games
Right click, backup game data.
>>$15=€15
Sounds like a personal problem.
Blame EU's ridiculous VAT on infinitely reproducible non-real items..
no joke, origin's client is lightweight as fuck, and at least EA has some customer support slaves instead of canned solutions
It's actually the exact opposite. The election and Sup Forums have flooded the rest of the website with fucking clueless redditor newfags. How can you watch this happen and not see it's gotten worse.
The only PC games I buy are from GOG. If it's a game from a developer I want to support and it's on GOG, I buy. In literally every other instance, I pirate.
full of DRM? pirate
skeptical about the game's quality? pirate
doing anything else is autistic
>Right click, backup game data.
Yeah, go and execute that backup after steam is bust
I love how this triggers every GOG customer on this site every time it is posted
>$0.04 has been deposited in your account.
this is rich
>replying to bait that obvious
Are you guys retarded or something
Steam is a DRM platform which restricts you from playing its games without it.
thx andrew wilson i love you
Nice one bro, take this (You).
I will just point out that GoG is far better than steam for the sole reason that they fix a game up and make it easier to play some games
Take Fallout 3 for example, on steam it is an annoyance to get running
GoG made it so much easier by doing things that should be done for the steam version from the get go like
GFWL was removed
included bUseThreadedAI=1 and iNumHWThreads=2 in the ini file (prevents problems related to multi-core computer setups)
enabled LargeAddressAware flag in game executable allowing it to access more memory (less change of out of memory related crashes)
GOG installation process also sets any compatibility settings needed
When has steam ever done something like that? Outside of their own games
>paying for software
>paying for video games of all things
The absolute state of nu/v/
There are games on steam that are abandoned by the devs in a broken state
you're trying to access their site using https but on the non-https port....have you considered being a console gamer? PCs might be too complicated for you.
I don't know man, I just clicked the link through google. It's always worked for me before, don't know why it doesn't now.
Kinda my point
At least gog strive to ensure all games work and will help you get it running and if not refund the game fully
>the absolute state
>nu
Hello newfag.
I'm dumb. It was my malwarebytes anti malware program all along; I forgot to exclude the website after reinstalling it. Disregard that I suck cocks.
this, I even buy older games I already own in retail versions from them, just to have a digital backup. gog is one of the few businesses I as a customer support financially with a clear conscience and no regret
It buys you time. For as long as it can't be pirated, people HAVE to buy it to play. Or physically steal a disc, which is much riskier.
Damn, what a cool bird.
DELETE
Since you have win10 home anyway you can now kill the ongoing malwarebytes process and stick to defender. MB light (which you have) is just good for scanning not real-time protection.
Wait, what makes you think I have windows 10? I'm still on 7, my dood. I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes since I can remember.
I think that anonymous imageboards as a whole are very interesting from social point of view. Chan-like sites are something special due to anonimity and large degree of free speech.
no, they are alright
