Divinity original sin 2

Who here loves this game? Let´s have a thread then! Who did you play as? what kind o combination did you come up with? How many members had your party? Did you play alone or with friends?! Have you used the game master mode?!

Stop! You'll wake kiddinity-kun!

I'm a big cRPG fan, but I never played any Divinity (beyond like 15 minutes in Divine Divinity and some Dragon Commander). Is the setting more tongue-in-cheek or more serious? And how rich and interesting is it? Also, is the magic system fun?

I don´t know about more serious. Depending on what you are comparing it to i guess. I found the story interesting and well crafted but overall i loved the narration, it´s like there is a game master narrates everything and the voice acting is just great. It really puts some life into the whole thing.

As for the magic i simply love it. How it takes advantage of terrain, how it combines, how one spell can change the flow of battle.

What was his end goal?

Going through a new playthrough
>leave Nameless isle without dealing with the Shadow Prince
>Arx
>go through Lizard dream world, let Red Prince have his dragon kids
>return to Arx
>suddenly Shadow Prince with a bunch of assassins out of nowhere
>attacks me after bitching for ruining his plans
Didn't even know it was possible

> HEAR YE HEAR YE
suicide by player at end of act 2 every time

Chicken him away from the square and murder him in a quiet corner without aggroing anyone else

*Stunlocks you*

Is it more a linear game or one where your choices really matter (esp. during the game, not just in the end credits)?

Really? nice! No real consequence whatsoever for letting him live trough act 3?

On the other hand i wouldn´t know... i killed EVERYONE on that island. Black ringers loot nicely.

Is the bug with Nicholas fixed? Who was the fucking holy man he was referring to?

They matter

Your choices do matter a lot in this game, even the side quests have a lot of ways to be completed and the stuff you do may have long term repercussions.

Shadow Prince has two main stratagems going on: elven scions and the dragonlings. I believe it's possible to leave him alive if you go along with both of them. It would lead to Sebille and Red Prince immediately leaving your party and attacking you though, if you have them. I haven't tried it in my games.

Some do matter and have consequence that can fuck you up pretty hard. Like, if you are a total asswhole or piss your party memebers they can actually leave for good.

NPCs can die and that may affect quests or shops too. Or plain simply your party members can trigger stuff and fuck you over.
For example, you are on a quest to deliver something to someone, you reach your destination having done everything like you should but one of your party members have a history with the quest giver... it may be a good history and they would talk giving you more options or whatnot, or it can be an ill relationship and the NPC may attack on sight.

You can also decimate a town if you feel particularly evil but you will lose any and all shops.

Some NPCs will join your crew on quests of their own. Depending on what you do they survive, die, become evil, etc.
Late game this might cost you an area or two.

It is pretty good.

I might try this out if i do a Fane solo run or something like that though maybe a run where you betray your companions like that may be interesting on itself.

If you main the red prince do you get to play extra dreams? haven´t tried but i assume that´s the case.

>Who did you play as?
A custom dwarf 2h warfare / poly hybrid, my friend was a custom skelly necromancer, and we had Ifan (huntsman) and the Red Prince (warfare / pyro) with us. Though over the course of the game we all picked up a variety of different skills. Haven't tried the game master mode. It was such an incredible game and I loved almost every minute of our 112 hour playthrough.

Your choices do matter and you have a lot of them, all the time. It's best to bring along some of the origin characters as they expand the plot. You can't departure wildly from the overall story, but you can take it down various routes and there are many ways to approach every scenario.

>If you main the red prince do you get to play extra dreams?
I haven't played RP avatar, maybe someone else can answer this

Haven´t tried custom characters yet or co op for that matter... but i see how custom creation may have a greater appeal on that mode.

How does that work for immersion with other characters? i mean, other than losing the char specific tags and answers? Do NPCs treat you like random dwarf or random lizzard and stuff like that till you aquire tags like hero and whatnot?

Polymorph is really cool for improving almost any build. I didn´t know who to benefit with it for half of the game though.

I went with Ifan as a mix of warfare, summoning and necro knowing full well that might backfire into a jack of all trades master of none thing... but it turned out it complemented pretty well.

The build had some problems though and i had to relocate some points here and there to actually get a decent incarnate since i couldn´t use all the memory points on making it OP.

I like to play alongside it.

Round skipping effects are ridiculously OP

With customs, you get to choose two tags at the start, which makes the experience more personal. You're treated as a random member of your race / Godwoken otherwise.

Can´t you technically edit the main cast tags too except the ones asociated to their background?

What happened here?

ask the spirit or eat a body part... never actually seen saw traps in the game though.

So, is Mals gonna need a swornbreaker? should i keep it?

Finally beat it yesterday. I actually kind of liked the twists, but the final fight and the results were really flaccid. The big-picture story was overall really weak, though.

I played it but didn't liked it as much as the first original sin and the pic related superior version

I think the point of the story is that there is a general sense to it all that is pretty vague and depending with wich tags and allies you choice you kind of create your own thing regarding your personal journey.

And since you actually affect the world around you i found that was a quite cool aproach to it all.
