>make perfect game
>add THAT level
Why do game devs do this? Is there some legitimate kind of quota that says you have to have at least ONE godawful area that defies the quality of the rest of the game?

What's wrong with Old Yharnam? It's better than both of the forest areas.
old yharnam is a great level
yahar'gul is shit though
That place wasn't bad, the Unseen Village I thought was terrible.
>he thinks this is Bloodborne's "THAT level"
oh you poor child, you haven't seen anything yet
I've beaten the game twice and I'll die on the hill that Old Yharnam is cancer. Fuck BSB.
Might just be a FROMsoft thing - Blighttown and Farron keep come to mind. What the fuck were they smoking when they thought those areas would be fun?
>What the fuck were they smoking when they thought those areas would be fun?
You're assuming they didn't just have the mindset of "how fucking annoying can we make these games?" when developing them.
TO THE LEFT TO THE LEFT
>hey let's make a really annoying and challenging area
>now let's make it completely optional
What a waste of development time. I didn't even know about this area until my second playthrough.
There's nothing wrong with old yharnam. Better than the research hall in the old hunters DLC.
>sprint through the first part
>climb ladder
>spam your pistol
>machingun nigger falls to his death
Thank me later
Does the world layout in Bloodborne make sense?
loved dark souls 3 so i bought bloodborne only to have it make me bloodbored
About as much as DaS1, I sill don't get where Cainhurst is though.
Mostly.
>game is built around fun mechanic like jetpacks or chain explosions
>they always 'mix it up' by giving you that part where you can't use it
Way to undermine your own game design, fuckballs.
The irony here is that Yarnham is the only good level in the game
Makes the most "sense" out of any Souls game. Since it's mostly corridor streets instead of corridor landscapes.
You can see Cainhurst from Henwick
But the carriage goes towards the sea. Also when the moon is purple it's still blue in Cainhurst.
What do you mean it goes towards the sea? You see it going over a bridge as it draws near to Cainhurst - which you can see from Henwick.
The moon doesn't change in Byrgenwerth either. That could be a fuck up by FROM, or else it's only meant to affect Yharnham
It makes sense until after the Unseen Village, then it becomes a teleporting dreams within dreams clusterfuck. I think they ran out of time in the second half.
MMMmmMMmMMMMMM
>What do you mean it goes towards the sea?
I thought it went towards that broken road near the water. I don't remember seeing a bridge or Cainhurst itself, I'll have to go look at it. Also I just realized it's "Charnel Lane" and not "Channel lane"
Here's a better question:
Why do FROM insist on putting a garbage unfun shitty swamp area (or equivalent) into like every single fucking game that they make?
>Also when the moon is purple it's still blue in Cainhurst
it's either a dev fuckup or DEEPEST LORE and the moon in the sky of yharnam is never the actual moon
Because they ran out of original ideas / can't understand why Blighttown was fun
>corridor landscapes
Really interested to know what this means.
>reach farron keep on new build
>stop playing the game
it's like they don't understand that they (swamps) might be a cool exploration experience once but every time after that it's just a boring slog
I was just being stupid; I mistook this as the bridge to Cainhurst, but it doesn't go to it.

God damn, seriously. At least in Demons Souls you could either stack poison resist and not get poisoned, or stack enough health regen to outheal the poison. Every game after that they went to that shitty status bar shit and having more poison resist just means more time sitting on some fucking island waiting for that crap to clear. They actually make those areas a little bit worse each game.
That's not forbidden woods.
blighttown is fucking great, kill yourself
I actually like the Gutter but I guess it's not really a swamp-type area. That would be Black Gulch which is an uninspired piece of shit.
I like it, I just don't understand what the second elevator is for.
pic
Blighttown is amazing
Anor Londo is the worst area in the game
Blightown>>>TheGutter>>>>>>>>>>>>FarronKeep
Literally strafe right and you cant get hit by any of its attacks.
The only bad level I can think of is Nightmare Frontier and it's so short it doesn't even matter.
But that is not Nightmare Frontier user
Old Yharnam is fine
Yahar'Gul is the shitty area because of the chime maidens
most people will go through it since you need to kill the BSB to get access to the chalice dungeons
I can blast through yar har har gul in minutes once i found out where the maidens are. And the area itself is great once you get on ground level.
*blocks your path*
Bloodborne dosnt really have THAT level for me but it sure has THAT boss with Rom. Its not hard but it sure is tedious as shit.
That's not yhargul
The only genuinely poor areas in Bloodborne are The Chalice Dungeons, because they feel like DaS2 level design, and are copy pasted to boot.
>mfw Rom is a joke but chalice Rom is the hardest boss in the game
