They're talking MSRP. Right now, it's 2nd hand sellers upping the price due to cryptominers. Normal MSRP for cards now is far less expensive. This move by Nvidia is simply cashing in on miners.

MSRP for current cards start at 159 up to about 600 USD. they are going to triple the cost of the cards and probably only get a 15% increase in performance.

The fact both Nvidia and AMD are not investing in HBM2 or HBM3 is still going to fuck us over in the long run, it's already shown unoptimized turds like FFXV can use 90% of VRAM and 11GB was not enough without SLI.

I'm the guy who had a 2x 770 system. I never had any real issues with CF or SLI. Most people who had issues were plebs who couldn't be bothered trying profiles from games using the same engine.
