Ni-Oh

This complete edition is on sale for $25 smack daddies. Is it any good? I like Souls and action games like DMC, Bayonetta,VJ. Never played Ninja Gaiden though.

It's shit

It's good but very repetitive, and not as memorable as bloodborne or the souls series. It's probably worth about $25 so I'd go for it.
I hear it can be a bit of tedious experience after about halfway though

It's good overall, not as great as Souls I would say, and even though it's combat is deeper, it isn't as deep as Bayo or DMC.

It’s the only souls-like game besides demon souls that I was invested enough in to beat.

Combat is mega fun, story is meh, ng+ is a huge grindfest and oneshot galore. At that price? Worth it.

As someone who hates the Dark Soul series with a passion, I can say that I loved Nioh so much. I feel the only reason was primarily because it has a lot of Japanese and Asian culture in it, plus you are a samurai who can use a katana. I also personally felt that Nioh was WAY more user friendly and easier than Dark Souls. It might not be as "emotional" deep and "philosophical" or whatever as the Soul series, but if you're weeaboo trash like me then I'm sure you'd love it simply for the samurai, katana, and Japanese culture and what have you. Also as I said I felt the combat was smoother, more fun, and easier overall than the Dark Souls series. I just had a lot of fun with Nioh. It was fun for me. Dark Souls wasn't.

>easier
That's weird. All the soulsfags tell me that the shit is too hard, like complete artificial difficulty bullshit.

Well I'm not saying it isn't challenging, or doesn't have it's challenges. But I didn't even make it 1 hour in Dark Souls before giving up, and I only lasted about 2 hours in Dark Souls 2 before giving up. But in Nioh I finished the whole game, and had fun playing it. I enjoyed helping other players as well, or just randomly replaying stages. As I said, I feel a lot of it had to do with Japanese aesthetics, and what have you. Dark Souls just didn't interest me, plus I didn't like the combat or really anything gameplay wise about it.

Very good combat but the enemy variety is awful

started the game that fun, it challenging but im not fealing it realy rewarding when you finish to kill each boss like in a soul game, that the reason i droped the game at around 30-40%.

the fealing of rage and angryness of often dying was higher that the fealing of advancement like in a soul game.

and game should be about fun = droped

Does this game have summons like Dark Souls? I like helping people on bosses a lot.

its pretty good, worth the money, however it gets repetitive since the enemy variety is pretty fucking short.

>souls action games like dmc, beyonetta

top kek. i'll give you a 6/10

I was having fun until I got to an impossible boss and then I quit after 3 hours of attempting and making no progress

Yeah you can summon players and vice versa and help them clear chapters/stages/bosses and what not.

you can co-op, or just drop into peoples games if they want help

there is also pvp

impossible boss? just level up if you can't beat him

if you really need help just co-op it

Is it weird if I beat him fairly easily? Granted it was my first playthrough. I'm not sure if you're talking about your first playthrough or some NG+ mode on a higher difficulty. I just know he wasn't hard on normal mode or whatever the default difficulty setting was.

>having trouble against Shima
Just slap some water shit on and slap his ass silly. His attacks are stupidly slow and telegraphed to hell.

Nioh is honestly pretty damn balanced up until you enter Way of the Demon difficulty. In WotD and beyond, the game's balance kind of just implodes on itself and the only way to continue without tearing your hair out is to roll with a cheese build i.e infinite living weapon, sloth+weakness talismans, etc etc. It's really not very fun. Way of the Samurai/Strong are very well-balanced for the most part though.

My attacks were doing almost no damage despite having the best possible gear and doing every single mission up to that point, and his living weapon attacks would one-shot me. So I gave up. Not worth it.

and what do you play

This is cheaper.

Hard to say. I've played all of these games and wouldn't consider any of them excessively difficult. Nioh is probably even more punishing than most Souls games but the combat is more fluid. I can see one style clicking for some people and not others.

25 bucks is a great price, i would definitely buy it. i've been playing this game since the beta and i'm still having fun.

also the combat system is pretty deep, and the stat managing is very fun for me personally. it's much better than any DS game

oh and one last thing that never gets mentioned about this game, the soundtrack is nearly perfect. the music really gives you dat feel

That's honestly really hard to believe. No regular boss should be one-shotting you unless you're severely under level.

Yes, it's good.

If you enjoyed your first playthrough you can do a lot of the same shit just with more difficulty/higher numbers

i bought it at 35 a while back and am totally happy with my purchase, still play it. You get a ton for the money, at 25 its easily worth it and i usually wont drop over 25 for a game I really want. If you like souls like games orlike how it looks get it.

*blocks your path and makes you rage/cry for several hours while flying into an autistic rage*

Why would I lie? I had done every single mission, I had been leveling up constantly, I had the strongest armor on, and his lightning attacks would one-shot me.

Anyone here willing to help me with Masamune?

Is it weird that pic related was the hardest part of the game for me until the dlc bullshit ?

Overall, Nioh is a great game, kind of rough around the edge tho. Hoping for a Nioh 2 to happen.

It's a pretty good game but the end game is extremely lackluster, but everything before that is great

>not getting the fun part of nioh endgame

I bet you play for the story fag

It absolutely will; the PS4 version sold a million in 2 weeks, making it KT's best selling game since the 2009 merger.

That fight was actual fucking horseshit. Tengus are retarded.

Not , tengus are absolute cancer, followed by foxes because they dont even follow the games rules

The best parts are the combat, build variety, main missions, and moments in the story.

The worst part is the harder the game gets, the less options you have for viable combat, but that of course depends on your skill and patience, 1 hit kills depending on your HP, and straight up bullshit like fighting a gauntlet of bosses.

It’s definitely worth 25.

>tengus are absolute cancer
are super weak to elemental status

especially thunder

>followed by foxes

big ones maybe, I just delete them as they are passive, small ones have no super armor at all

I meant the dumb abyss shit, that stuff is stupidly grindy

>1 hit kills depending on your HP,
>he doesnt know

Boss fights are great, and the gameplay itself is better than dark souls IMO. But.. the areas get re-used SO much its unreal. Most aren't really memorable to begin with.
Side missions become repetetive after a while and I was really really glad when I finally reached the end. Took me 40 hours. Haven't really touched it since, might go back for the dlc some time.

>stupidly grindy
only if you dont know how to speed run

then speed run it in NG+

you dont have to kill everything

Do you guys think Nioh 2 will keep the diablo loot ?
Cuz I sure dont want it

Nope. Literally anyone that wasn’t using the sloth exploit had an awful time with that.

I was never a fan of throwing hordes of birds and ghost sluts at the player for difficulty. Difficulty should be learning to fight a variety of enemies under different circumstances

shouldn't i do the dlc before going into ng+? I killed the thousand eyes dude and got a bunch of new areas but decided to stop playing for a while.

I personally thought this fight was horse shit, took me lots of tries to finally beat them. But that goes for most of the duo bosses fights in Ni-Oh.

>sloth exploit

An exploit would imply that wasn't an intended function of the gameplay, which it clearly is.

dlc is mucho harder

Basically what they're implying is if you used sloth at all then you're a pussy casual who couldn't beat the game without using an obvious exploit for casual babbies.

-t switching to low stance mid dodge is TOO HARD

I wanted this sword so badly when I first started playing the game. I used it for quite a while until I eventually got something better, though it was still my favorite for a while.

I have the digital deluxe edition I paid full price for yet don't play anymore because of that cock sucker

I find it bizarre that some people love this game. The enemy variety is abysmal, and eventually every part of the game between bosses will feel like a grind. The combat system is good but frankly overrated by this game's defendants.

It may still be worth 25$, but don't expect a masterpiece.

I didn't say I used it, I said his terminology was completely fucking wrong. Stop trying to validate yourselves through how you played a videogame you fucking babies.

POST YOUR FAVORITE ARMOR SETS

>What is level matching

Its anti fun and actually too hard. I quit it halfway through because the bosses were getting ridiculous.
They all have 500000000 hp and do a ton of damage. On top of that you have to circle strafe them for long periods till an opening to attack comes. And if you make a single mistake you die and that STUPID fucking death music plays. Freed from this mortal coil more like fuck you refunded.

No they don't. The game is a cakewalk after you understand it.

Oh right, forgot you could do that. Well it's not the most aesthetically pleasing katana in the game. But it's still in my top 5 though. And I did like the lightning effect on it.

You can literally bait tengus into an infinite loop of using their swipe attack, backing up, and counter-hitting.

These fucking NIGGER birds were more annoying and tedious than some bosses I fought. Probably the most annoying non-boss enemy in the game.

And doing that leaves you wide open for the homing attack the ghost bitch does which slows you by 70% for 10 seconds in that particular encounter.

Doesnt stop the tengu from being a pain to fight
The mission in where you fight like 3 tengus or so in that red battlefield was horrendous

The bathhouse stage was COMFY as fuck though, really enjoyed it.

>that mission where you fight the mages who summon a tengu and you have to fight it while the two of them cast shit at you

It's a zero effort game. It completely loses its appeal just a few hours in. Dullest level design I've ever seen to the point where most levels are a complete eyesore. Repetitive as fuck gameplay, fuck all enemy variety and an overabundance of cheap shit make this game not even worthy of a pirate.

Yeah, don't do the double bosses.

It’s neat for about an hour, then you start realizing there is nothing new the game has to offer you. Surprisingly disappointing. The combat is fine and the graphics are good, it’s just lousy level design and pacing.

If you don’t find it repetitive, then you’ll probably like it.

Probably, because otherwise, 7 weapon types with the same movesets for every weapon isn't gonna cut it for build variety.

Where did you find it on sale? Link?

Advice for Shimon Sakon? I can't parry his headbutts.

get one mid/high hit in, then focus on dodging

Most people had a hard time with these bastards because they don't have the huge obvious telegraphed weakness every other enemy does.

The US PSN store's having a sale, so I'm assuming he means there.

I've found that with most weapons, you can get 2 heavy attacks after their kick spin (if you're able to outrange it), then get another heavy attack after their staff swipe.

Is English your first language?

Say I already have the base game. Should I go ahead and get the DLC or wait to beat the game first?

If you think you're gonna do it anyway, might as well do it now, since the 2 DLC weapon-types get added into the pool.

I heard that you can play as multiple characters. Is that during a second playthrough or something?

>on sale for $25 smack daddies
fucking where? I haven't seen it go below $35 on Steam

Did you look on the other platform this game is available

No, I already own it on PS4. So why would I check there?

Everyone who has a hard time only knows how to answer a problem with more damage. The game gives you assloads of tools to mitigate damage, cripple your enemies, recover health, and THREE different ways to outright cheat death if somehow all of the above fail you. Most people just legit suck at video games.

If you care only about the deep gameplay and Diablo 3's weapon/armor grinding, you will like it.

I like the gameplay but hate stat grinding so I don't even care to complete the DLCs' trophies.

Graphic, level design wise are too bland and stupid.
Music is quite good for some levels and scenes, but cannot compare to Soulsborne games

Which I fucking did. That’s how I beat them the first time, and it WAS too hard. Not too hard to beat but, but too hard to enjoy.

Just because it’s possible doesn’t mean it’s fun.

It works like a skin really, you need to spend glory to drees up at the tea house
The cost for women is very high

That’s not what I was trying to say. And fuck you

>the cost for women is very high
Cheeky koei. I'll buy the game
