Piratefags and poorfags got BTFO. Now we can discuss the demo properly.

Are they banning accounts or something?

And to those who are still offline please connect your PS4 to the internet immediately. You literally stole the game for free 2 months early.

They revoked licenses for the game.

I know you can't win, but this still pisses me off.

Of course not, they're just revoking the license for the "demo." That's why everyone was saying to go offline.

Connect online right now

Don't worry dude I'll go online as soon as I beat the game. Was nice of Sega to give it out like that.

Question: Did people who are online, but turned off automatic updates, still able to play?

Literally asking for a friend, because I couldn't get it at the time.

lol, pic related is you right now

>people called me paranoid for turning my console offline right after confirming it was the full version
WHO'S LAUGHING NOW

You can go online, but you have to never, NEVER go to the PSN store. I had my shit online this entire time but when to the store and got fu ked

Oh well.

Did the exact same shit, but instead of playing the game I've just been learning mahjong.

Actually, doing anything that can invoke system to look at your licenses (like going to another game as well).

How dare you take the fucking game from me, Sega? Never buying your shit now

Was it only the US Ps Store which had the full game? Not any other region?

Supposedly Arab psn had it as well.

>tfw I want to play yakuza buy don't know where to start.
I hear there's remasters and shit. I have a ps3 and 4 so let me know guys. I don't want to be left out.

Ah ok, I was hoping my download would be the full game but now I know my region never had it in the first place.

>has both ps3 and ps4
you're golden for that chronological order

how do you unlock the full game? is it the same as those videos where they download a demo, cancel it and download it again from the libray instead of the ps store?

it was still up on the aus ps store the other night so i downloaded and canceled and redownloaded from the library but i havnt been bother to play it yet

You're basically saying start from 3 right?

no

Start with Yakuza Kiwami (which is the first Yakuza game remade) & Yakuza 0.

By the time you're finished with both, Kiwami 2 will be released so grab that next. Then grab 3-5 on PS3 and then 6. Get the Hokuto ga Gotoku Fist of the North Star game that plays like Yakuza for variety

Take notes from this user
He spent a good minute or so writing this all up. His efforts won't go unappreciated.

>still have MHW for free from a month ago

I'm starting to worry. Surely they will leave MHW alone, right?

>You literally stole the game for free 2 months early
When im done with the game :^)

>Can your PC emulate PS2 games
Start with 1.
>Can't emulate/don't have a PS2
Start with 0, then Kiwami.

I actually played a bit of the first game through the ps2 emulator like a year ago. I don't remember names or too much of what happens.
I do have a ps2 as well. I guess I'm gonna play the remake though, it makes more sense to.

That's a bit of a separate issue I don't think they could fix that even if they tried without locking people out who were supposed to be given codes.

To be clear, 0 is a recent new game as a prequel to 1/Kiwami. So, come to expect it to have things that a remake of a PS2 game would not.

Well if you're going down that path, I wouldn't recommend starting with Kiwami. 0 would be a better starting game, as it's a prequel, and Kiwami shares the same gameplay, but with a few tweaks.

Won't it be better to just play kiwami then? Or just in the order of title release?

The reason you don't do Kiwami first despite it being a remake of 1 is because it has a lot of 0 references particularly in the substories and builds upon the characterization it gives to the main villain in 1 along with adding new scenes to flesh him out more. That's why you go for 0 first if you must go for the more modern games before going into Kiwami. Release order is ideal but if you don't want to do it then that's the best way to go.

0 is not a bad way at all of starting, it will set up things for the future that you'll be able to appreciate more. However, 0 may set up some expectations gameplay-wise as to how the franchise will be that may or may not be true.

If you go in with proper expectations, you'll be fine.

What would YOU do tripfag? I honestly don't even mind the combat of the old ones. So adapting isn't really a concern.
Since you say there's references, I might just play 0 first to keep everything fresh.
Not sure why I never played this series growing up.
Thanks for the reassurance.

>Not sure why I never played this series growing up.
Aughts were a bad time for Sega of America. Lots of coming and going because of the Sammy buy out in Japan and thus didn't and couldn't really push the series like they should have. You most likely never played it because there wasn't really much hype around it. Plus the fans had to fight tooth and nail to get the series overseas during that time period. This resurgence of the series is thanks to them, much like a few other Sega Franchises like NiGHTS & Sonic.

I personally went release order. You get to see the advancement of mechanics and how they refine them, see what gets added and what gets taken away or even repurposed at times, and you're following along Kiryu's life. That's the ideal way of doing it but it's a large time investment (We're talking hundreds of hours even if you're not going for side content) and some of the mechanics they were testing out got to be a slog (Enemies guarding in Kenzan and 3, the chase sequences took about two games before they became properly enjoyable, and their tinkering with climax heat was also all over the place).

You're basically at two choices here:
You start with the newer games that give you a different perspective on characters and a different lookout on things while at the same time giving you the more refined gameplay. The downside of this is that you basically have to regress in fluidity and content if you want to continue to follow along chronologically with the story along with missing many references along the way. However, the games generally all play the same and 0's fighting isn't too much different from 2, it's just faster and more refined with how you attack enemies.
You start with the older games, you're forced into the dub for the first game and you're at the mercy of some unpolished mechanics. The upsides I listed in the first paragraph with how progression happened and you get to follow along chronologically seeing how the games advanced year after year. You will understand the nods here and there.

I'm an advocate for release order if possible, but I understand that some people just don't want to deal with PS2 games or don't see the point when there's remakes, so if you want to go that way that's fine too, it's just a different way of seeing the series is all.

I'm honestly surprised the series is still ongoing after so long. Not many studios can push that many single player games out and still be profitable.

>tfw offline the entire time
>can play casually through the game
I will still buy it tho. Really want to see Kiwami 2 and Fist of the north star here.

how fun are these kinds of games without understanding japanese? i really like the Fist of the North Star demo especially the combat and i'm seriously thinking on buying it but i dunno if i could go through the entire game without understanding the text.

There's a long standing rumor that since they have Yakuza, actual Yakuza as advisors to the games to make them authentic, that they also help fund the series.

Getting the series overseas however is an unrelated issue than how it continues to get made. That reason is pretty much SoA at the time unable to properly market it and thus they didn't see it being profitable. Catch 22.

There's subs in the English version and the localization is pretty great.

You can do it but more than half the content is usually side content you'll be scratching your head at. When you don't know what you're doing it's best to at least wait for Japanese wikis to start making their own guides for things. I can't tell you how many times I had to refer to Japanese guides on Kenzan and Ishin even when I was using English guides.

NO NO THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!
IF WE CAN'T DISCUSS THE GAMES THEN I WON'T LET YOU FUCKS HAVE FUN TOO

NO FUN ALLOWED

Funny, I was wondering if actual yakuza played the games. Maybe some of the stuff in the games were authentic way back in the days. I doubt they do crazy shit like that in modern times. It's like the mafia post 60s.

>mfw people laughed at me for being paranoid and staying offline
WHO'S LAUGHING NOW YOU BUNCH OF NIGGERS
This RIZAP results screen music is still top tier btw

I played through 0 back in 2015, and while I enjoyed the game, it was demoralizing as hell to play it in Japanese, and that was with the substory guide and upgrade system fan-translated. Hokuto Ga Gotoku probably won't get anything fantranslated, so I'm put off for now. You could play the PS1 game for now instead, doesn't need any Japanese understanding.

Have a read if you'd like, some interesting insight

>If you do the cabaret club, specifically Sora, Kiryu will completely spoil story events he hasn't even witnessed yet.
>He can also tell the girls about how he takes care of Haruto and how he spear fishes in Onomichi to try to flatter them.
I guess they didn't think someone would be crazy enough to do things before even meeting Akiyama yet.

Pretty sure they'd laugh at the fact that you can count with your fingers the people who bother using a fucking gun.
And most body tattoos are miserable compared to the ones i see on the average Beat Takeshi gangster film.

I feel really bad for the Sega team, the series is clearly not a cashgrab franchise, it sells so averagely even in Japan, so I imagine a lot of people involved are doing it as a passion project, and this fuck up had a chance to kill support, especially in the west for the game.

I hope only a couple had to give their pinky to papa Sega.

>Start with Yakuza Kiwami
0fags believe this

It seems that it took social media and streamers to finally give the series it's needed limelight. It's really interesting when you think about it, it's the best "Stream-friendly" game that Sega has.

>licenses being revoked
This is why you don't buy digital. SEGA should own up to this shit and admit they fucked up and let everybody keep it instead of acting like users used some kind of exploit
Not that I don't have the LE pre-ordered anyway :^)

Will I be able to use the borked demo save in the full game? I was somewhere in Hiroshima when they rudely took it away from me & I really don't wanna suffer through the beginning again, Kiryu has never felt worse than he did at the start of 6

Same thing happened with Knack 2 except we (Aus/NZ) were the ones who got it for free. As I recall though they didn't revoke the license for it, though. If they're dumb enough to fuck up like that then they deserve it tbqh.

Yes, the entire point of the demo was that your saves would work in the retail game and the demo itself was the retail game.

I dunno mate, I'm not your mother.
I personally picked up 3 on a whim for like 6 bucks and I loved it and went from there. Finished 3, 4, 5, 0 and Kiwami. Still haven't played the first couple.
Just don't play Dead Souls or 5

>The localisation is pretty great
Holy shitballs

Or just stop playing 5 once you've beaten Kiryu's chapter. Seriously, that's the only fun part of the game.

hardmode:
someone with game stream it via capture card on one of the little known streaming sites that doesnt give a fuck.

Sup Forums had a blast watching mario oddessey when it got leaked 2 weeks early.

the only fun part in 5 was the IF-8 side-scroller beat-em-up

But that was one of the shittiest parts. Honestly preferred the boss battle format they used to do for it.

the music make up for it

Yeah, i think it's pretty laughable how all these yakuzas come to kill you yet more than often none of them are carrying guns. The lack of guns is for gameplay purpose i suppose since it's a beat 'em up and stuff.

fuckboy!

That was one of the most boring mini-games next to some of Haruka's stuff. I will never understand people that hate 5, it has everything you'd want out of a yakuza game (except story), yet people shit on it like it's going out of style.

Sup Forums streaming games before release are some of the greatest times around. The sonic mania stream was fucking magical
EIGHT FUCKING GAME OVERS IN OIL OCEAN

>Playing 5
>Encounter system has been changed so that enemies walk around but are fairly clearly indicated
>Often several of them spawn near each other
>Happens in cramped spaces with tons of pedestrians who now have wall priority
>They run faster than you most of the time
Seriously glad that it seems that whoever programmed that was fired by 0. Saejima's chapter was by far the worst of it on top of an already shitty chapter to begin with. I cannot stress enough how much more playable the anal beads make the game (and even then NPCs blocking you in cramped areas is still fucking annoying).

>Honestly preferred the boss battle format they used to do for it.
>That moment when you go up against Akiyama and realize you're doing it in an area filled with tables and chairs.
>He kicks once and you die from being juggled by a bunch of furniture and his other kicks.

Did they ever explain why Saejima was in prison again in 5?

Something something muh honor, can't be apart of the tojo clan until i serve some more time in jail.

I think it was his sentence for breaking out of prison in 4

>Get pardoned for crime
>Still serve prison time for breaking out of prison for the crime you didn't commit

Gotta do more jail time for not killing all those people he's famous for killing.

The worst part is Majima even offered to contact the D.A. to clear Saejima of his charged, and he refused. I really like Saejima, but god damn that was retarded.

breaking out of prison is a separate crime
it's definitely his reason in 6 anyway

Guns are legitimately hard to find in Japan. iirc not even the street cops carry them or so I was told.

>literally goes to prison 3 or 4 times
>talks about nothing except muh kyodai
What a piece of shit of a character he is holy shit the plot went to shit since 3rd game
Hope they reboot the shit out of 7 to forget literally about everyone

I can in a little while, but I'm not really sure that'd be exciting since I play these games at a super slow pace.

>hey, lets take away the things that hid the loading before fights
>hey, lets transition from 0's best-in-the-series fighting mechanics to a new worst-in-the-series
Yakuza 6 was a mistake.

i wanna go back

take me back a day

let me smash my router please

is there ANY WAY to restore your ps4 to an earlier point?

Fucking thieves

If you were so desperate the play the game why wouldn't you listen to the people telling you to go offline?

i turned off auto update and always went offline before starting the game up, i thought that would be enough

i thought that would be enough

I mean i'd rather them do something different with the combat than just keep on building off Yakuza 3 I think the devs got bored of making that style of combat.

>brother put on the cable on the ps4 to watch netflix
>revoked license
Oh well, it was an enjoyable demo.

#Yakuza6MakeItRight

>Kiryu been fighting pretty much all his life
>got hit with everything, from punches to knife, bats, cars, etc even got shot sometimes
>probably on his 50's or more right now
>still healthy as fuck, not even a scar

Fucking Yakuza

I wish they just improved Kiwami's combat instead of changing it completely.
It is fun kicking these meat sacks but it gets pretty boring quickly.
Sorry to hear this, fella
But if it work, then why change it?

I can't wait for this license revocation to somehow fuck over the people who bought the digital version on release

It's obvious they just wanted to do something different. I can't blame them devs has a creative urge and the series is a yearly output anyways. I still think making Y6 the first dragon engine game was a mistake though. They should have done another spin off in it to iron out it's main issues.

>sega delays the game a whole month for literally no reason
>game is ready to ship
>asia still getting it this month
>fucks up demo, instead of owning up to it and pushing the release date a bit earlier they revoke licenses
Fuck Sega. I ain't going online till the game is out. Why wait 2 fucking months for my copy to arrive or bother importing it from asia when I can play the full game now.

same, what a little faggot

In 5 they can't fight you if you just WALK past them, not run.
Game outright tells you to walk.

It won't, it doesn't work that way, I think.

I guess I'll just finish the story and delete the game.
Will play substories and such when my copy arrive.

What's going on here, guys?

youtube.com/watch?v=z-ON2kBPh-I

C'MON SEGA YOU FUCKS

GIVE ME BACK MY GODDAMN GAME
