We've got a problem. A big one. The controller chip for our water purification system has given up the ghost. Can't make a new one and the process is too complicated for a work around system. Simply put, we're running out of drinking water. No water, no Vault. This is crucial to our survival. And frankly, I...I think you're the only hope we have. You need to go find us another controller chip. We estimate we have four to five months before the Vault runs out of water. We need that chip. I've marked your map with the location of another Vault. Not a bad place to start I think.
I love that every ending is doom to this fucking asshole.
William King
I like fallout 2 better but the story in 1 was a real pleasure.
Parker Thomas
God, that fucking face. Not bashing the storytelling of the game, and I know that CGI graphics tech would have been limited, but was it necessary for them to have faces like Cro-Magnons?
Charles Torres
personally found this to be one of the worst intros to a game, did very little to make me care
Planning to play both 1 and 2 and some quality of life changes would be appreciated

>Go outside the Vault and look for the water chip >Meet people, fix a lot of things, help people >Find water chip and later save the wasteland from something that is a mix of many people and electronics that controlled an army of Super Mutants by showing it evidence that its plans were futile due to the fact that Super Mutants were infertile >Come back to Vault >They don't want me anymore because I'VE CHANGED TOO MUCH >Fuck off North and make my own tribe
I felt sad for the Vault Dweller.

>Fallout 1 >good story with a relatable villain >unique weapons that fit the style >Fallout 2 >neo nazis are the villains >memes and sex jokes >modern weapons (albeit unrothodox and unique or even prototype) Fallout 2 was a mistake.
Chase Martin
Okay, this is something I tried a long time ago, but I'll share it with you anons. After playing and beating this game a dozen times, I decided to go on a killing spree, every location, every person, dead and emptied.
Then I went to the Brotherhood of Steel Bunker, now obviously this is by nature going to be the hardest run, while the Church and Military Base are designed to allow combat runs, however difficult, but Lost Hills was never designed for that. I noticed, after an afternoon of this, that after the first ten or twenty dead, I would get one hit criticaled, regardless of my health. Just to clarify, I was a high-level character with an HP pool around 100, and I did the side-quest with the BoS member kidnapped in The Hub(with tougher henchmen than Super Mutants).
pic related, the training room I would start my killing at, I could easily kill the people in here, but when the rocket launcher wielding paladins from inside inaccessible rooms came out, I was fucked.
So if any of you anons got a late-game save loaded up, fully kitted out, I ask you to try to kill everyone on the first level. Is it even possible?
Jaxon Thomas
It was hilarious in fallout 1 you had weapons called "assault rifle" and "shotgun" and in fallout 2 you still have those but then theres also "FN FAL", "P90", "G11" Did they just not give a fuck?
at least they corrected this in F3 and FNV (I know F3 was shit but this is the one thing they did good)
Alexander Green
>modern weapons Why'd they do away with this anyway? 3 and especially NV could've benefited from having funs like the P90 and Barrett in them
Ryan Anderson
>Deformed monster who wants to turn everybody into deformed monsters is a relatable villain
Easton Thomas
Because they clash with the 60s futurist style
Sebastian Nguyen
They could put in more cool stuff from the 50's and early 60's then

I agree
Lucas Bennett
>Cro-Magnons? I bet they just copied Ron Pearlmans face in secret while he was recording his lines.
Zachary Hughes
NV has modern-ish weapons, like the Assault Carbine, Marksman Carbine, and Anti-Materiel Rifle.
Jacob Allen
>schmuck who goes adventuring >suffers a horrible accident >learns of a potentially world-changing thing that can save humanity, albeit morally dubious >has it all down to a science >kills himself when he finds out it won't work, and that he did all that evil shit in vain
James Johnson
It’s relatable to the average Sup Forums-poster
Thomas Richardson
I genuinely teared up on my first playthrough. The voice performance is amazing.
Matthew Walker
> cruse around in your muscle car with your tribal bro sulik > bang the wife and daughter of a mob boss > be a pornstar > huff jet all day > kill everyone in vault city, leaving lynette for last
fo2 was good times
Gabriel Murphy
The extra schizophrenic voices helped accentuate his monstrosity.
Jeremiah Sullivan
Anyone? Would appreciate a learned user with the answer or an user brave enough to do it.
Evan Campbell
It's totally possible, especially if you don't mind savescumming. I wouldn't start in the training room unless you can quickly get control of traffic at the door, seeing as there are 4(?) paladins that can quickly enter.
Justin Richardson
>It's totally possible, especially if you don't mind savescumming. I wouldn't start in the training room unless you can quickly get control of traffic at the door, seeing as there are 4(?) paladins that can quickly enter. This was my thought. This where the weakest initial NPC's are, if I quickly dispatch them, I get an advantage by being able to shoot at the door, move 1 step out of sight, and if they make it in, splash damage them. Unfortunately, the sheer tide makes it in, and I could never kill more than twenty, before I got criticaled. If anyone wants to try this, please do, and post screenshots.
William Lewis
I kinda like how he’s pretty casual about it, and the first thing you see when outside the vault door is the corpse of the last guy he sent.
Kayden Morris
The "war never changes" intro had so much more impact.
Jordan Roberts
>I'm sorry, but you're too familiar with the outside world. You could defend us and facilitate trade with the outside world. You might even just live a quiet life and do nothing in the vault.

Fixt patch for both is all you need.

I too was on No Mutants back in the day.

>mfw soy-Sup Forums has never played fallout 1, 2 and tactics >thinks fallout: cowboys and romans is a genius game >constantly shit on bethesda for "inaccuracies" like the bos reaching the east coast Also if you don't go for a 10 luck, jinxed and unarmed run in the original games, you're a big fucking baby and should neck yourself for not playing the only way the games were intended to be played.
Jose Evans
>hating the p90
Angel Evans
I have played fallout 1, 2 and tactics and I still think New Vegas is a genius game and I still think you are a hack Todd. What now? >adds soy in the post to nip all potential discussions in the bud
Evan Foster
I have 1400 hours in New Vegas and I think that Fallout 1 is better in every way except for quantity of content and modding support.
Colton Rogers
Nothing since F1 and F2 are both great vanilla experiences
Thomas Collins
>>bethesda wtf are you shitting about. bethesda had nothing to do with 1 & 2
and Tatics had nothing to do with Interplay. thus it was a crap game that was nothing but a cash grab.
>>You're a big fucking baby and should neck yourself for not playing the only way the games were intended to be played.
are you retarded ?!!
Jace Foster
New Vegas needed a real retard mode

Modern weapons make sense, though. The reason everything looks stuck in the 50s is because the government put all its funding into the military. It makes sense that guns would be the one thing more advanced than the rest of technology.

I also have many more hours in NV than 1 or 2 but the story in 1 is superior by far. It keeps the gameplay focused while still allowing so much freedom.

I wish there were more games like Fallout and Arcanum that allowed you to play as a retard.

He was probably just dumb enough to know that he wasn't smart. So he's angry all the time because he knows that everyone knows he's dumb.
