Nvidia: GPU prices to rise further

So what happens to PC Gaming now?

Do we all have to buy PS4?

Surely PC gaming can't survive like this

Supply and demand, it's economics. Both AMD and Nvidia have raised production to meet the demands. We'll see lowered prices soon enough.

Get a better job. Stop buying other shit to save up for new parts.

>soon enough
I heard this six months ago and it's just gotten worse.

>Jews expect to continue being Jews
This is not news.

I expect more developers will start optimizing for igpu's. It'll eventually be better for everyone to move past discreet graphics cards.

>Both AMD and Nvidia have raised production to meet the demands
No they haven't you faggot they suffer nothing from pc gaymen not being able to buy GPUs but they would suffer if they decided to increase the production and suddenly the memecoins crashed and miners stopped buying shit.

might sell my 1080 and quit pc gaming.

I'm putting together a team together to hunt minerfags, you in?

Honestly, I am glad I got my GTX 1080 now. GPU prices were already horrid, and the rumored prices for the new line are absolutely insane. Hell, I might just ride it out and not upgrade for awhile.

PC gaming dies and is replaced by the Xbox One X.

how more the hardware cost rises, more later I buy the games, more 75% discounted games I will have

This is happening mid gen, so old gpu are still enough for latest games. Imagine if mining happened in 2013/2014. It would have killed PC gaming for good.

It doesn't matter because the only games worth playing on PC were all made pre-2010 so any old toaster will work fine. Stop wasting thousands of dollars just to play games made by liberal trannies and you won't care anymore.

PC gaming is still alive and kicking as long as you don't care about AAA. The card game genre, for example is thriving on PC.

I don't need Extra settings on everything

I'll just sit on my gtx 1060 for a while

GTX 1060 was 270E and I was like "I'll buy it when it drops to 250" and now it costs 400

Crysis was made more than 10 years ago and could be ran on what are now budget cards today.

>The state-of-the-art Nvidia GPUs at the time of launch were the GeForce 8800 GT/GTX/Ultra cards. The fastest of those is the 8800 Ultra, which delivered a measly 384 GFLOPS of compute performance, with a slightly more impressive 103.7GB/s of memory bandwidth.
To put that in perspective, a GTX 1080 Ti has about 30x more computational power and 4.5x the memory bandwidth as the 8800 Ultra.

Basically, devs need to optimize more instead of being so wasteful.

i'm staying on 270x, i don't give a shit
it's literally no games in 2018 on pc. it puts to shame playstation's 3 2007.

What card you on now?

Name one (1) PC game worth upgrading your GPU for.

I currently have a 1080 and barely play anything except some indies and older RPGs/RTS.

literally impossible.
i have a better question - name one (1) good upcoming pc game.

Far Cry 5

...

That will actually release in our lifetime.

Rust actually left early access. anything is possible.

660

That's why i bought an rx560 right after it went up

*before

you are fucking retarded
very few PC gamers have $500 GPUs
even less people are going to get fucking $2000 GPUs
PC gaming is dead

amen
can't wait to play another far cry 3 rehash

Nvidia is releasing cryptomining only cards (most likely removing most of the ram and video ports).

Both companies have been working on their early/mid 2018 cards. There was no benefit to producing more chips for their older models when the newer models are almost here.

>$1000 for a luxury item is a lot for some people
Fucking lmao, best stick to consoles.

Really makes me wonder how developers haven't gone into panic mode from the prospect of not being able to sell their shit.

Crypto only cards don't mean shit because the miners will keep buying gaming cards for the reseallability

crypto cards are around for a year and no one buys this shit. ryptoniggers want to re-sell their used garbage.

>Nvidia is releasing cryptomining only cards (most likely removing most of the ram and video ports).
Unless they build new facilities for that, it'll just be competing with the production of gaming/visual gpus, which means there will be less gpus produced and their price will still be extremely high.

If RAM and GPU prices don't stabilize by the time next gen comes out then a lot of PC gamers will get fed up and jump ship to consoles.

AMD upped production for mining last time and got burned bad when the bubble popped and a ton of cheap graphics cards flooded the second hand market.
You don't up production for fickle customers like miners because it will take a year or more to increase production to suit them but could only take a day before they're gone.

At this rate I'm going to go back to console gaming. My GTX 960 is beginning to show its age.

Whatever, my laptop with 920 MX is able to move every 7th generation game at high settings and every 8th generation game at medium-low settings. Why do you faggots insist on buying the latest video cards?

I wish miners could find ways to run their mining programs on a playstation or xbox. Might actually be economical right after a console release, when the company is selling new consoles at a loss.

>muh 720p low-medium gaming

Who here /crypto/? Just bought another three 1080s today.

GPU prices justify how good of an investment they are. There is literally nothing worth playing the requires more than a 760 so why buy GPUs for anything but mining free money?

Bettter than nothing i guess

Miners want the gaming version of GPUs since those are the ones that have warranties and are the ones with resell value.
Nobody would buy a mining card second hand when they have no video ports and I think the warranty is not more than a couple of months if that.

I want to upgrade my CPU but for that I need a new motherboard and new RAM and the RAM prices are fucking killing me.

>why is it so expensive?
>ez dude, it's simply supply and demand

>why is it so expensive?
>not a alot of people are buying it, company has to return the investment

is /biz/ the most jewish board?

Are you fucking retarded? Basically all the noteworthy games of the year will be on PC, just like it was for 2017. Even when you take into consideration this contrarian shithole, in 2017 PC was the system with most games from the usual "Sup Forums best game of year poll/chart" by far.
No, seriously, if you don't give a single fuck about videogames why are you here.

The only reason why I stay on PC is piracy, if pirating console games was as easy as pirating PC games I would switch.

Sup Forums best games* of year poll/chart

Worst that can happen is we stop wasting time on video games.

>8gb is not enough

fuck that, it is. proper 16gb ram shouldnt cost 200 bucks in the first place

>tfw still on 4GB DDR3

That just means new people won't play at 4k 120 fps, nothing tragic.

The performance difference between a 1050ti and a 1060 is pretty small, isn't it?

Forgot to say, the 1050i is just 220 euros in my country, so I was thinking about buying and using that until this cryptohell implodes.

Same as always. People move on to the new shit, you buy an older card for a cheaper price.

going back to console because 60fps and mods aren't worth it, when everything else sucks about it.

I don't see why so many people mine crypto when it's so ridiculously costly and unprofitable with maybe razor-thin margins in the long, long term.

>Siege
>normie theft auto v
>project cars/2
>Farcry 4
>760

38fps 1080p

You need only cheap as fuck shit for 60fps.

well thats too little m8
pic related is gw2 with 5 chrome tabs

think I can get away selling my 1070 now and buying a 2070 immediately at launch?

>more 75% discounted games I will have
bad enough digital games are a scam when it comes to price. i mean gta v a 6 year old game goes for 59.99

GTAV has sold 90 million copies now.
They're not dropping the price until sales start to fall and at this rate they won't for a long time.

>they suffer nothing from pc gaymen not being able to buy GPUs
Both AMD and Nvidia said it themselves, less people buying GPUs for gaming means less gaming on PC, effectively killing the market. It's hilarious how PC thought Consoles were going to be the death of it only for Crypto to come sniping from afar.

>1050 ti in america went from 140 to almost 300+
>ram just keeps getting more and more expensive
I know Pcmr says poorfags stay on consoles but the prices here are getting absurd even for bare minimum entry

So? That doesn't really affect nvidia or amd, they are selling their shit, it's developers who should be really scared shitless right now.

it just mean the already bad AAA support is going to be even worse or non existent

cant someone like, make a virus to kill bitcoins

See
>You don't up production for fickle customers like miners because it will take a year or more to increase production to suit them but could only take a day before they're gone.
It's not that hard.

Glad i've bought 1080Ti in april '17

Consoles are picking up the slack for now. That's why practically everything is PC/console now. Cheap to port and safer to have games on multiple platforms.
When the console sales of games start dropping is when they'll shit their pants.

GPUs could triple before I'd ever consider becoming a consolepleb.

You fucking short-sighted retard. Both companies are part of the gaming industry. Less gaming means less profit. Less profit on PC section means less innovation because there's 0 reason to advance the tech faster than consoles can allow.

>tfw 90% of my PC time is used to play a single game
>My only desire is to be able to run that game on highest settings for maximum enjoyment
>Can't upgrade PC without getting blased in the ass
FUCKING CRYPTOMEME

>bought a 1080ti on black friday for $700
i feel a lot better about the purchase now than i did the day i bought it. same card is like $1300 today

>snapped up by bots

Fuck off. A simple captcha would do the job if they had any inclination whatsoever to put a stop to bots.

I am at a disadvantage because I can't even play Siege at 1080p. It's hard to see much of anything.

>business wanting to put an end to sales
why would they be inclined to do this.

After the 2070 cards are out, miners will jump on them and the previous card series will be cheap again, I guess. At least devs will know from the get go that that the 2000 series will mostly be miners' territory and will keep making their games to work mainly on the 1000 series, or at least I hope so.

That's precisely what I'm saying, neither nvidia or amd have any reasons to amp up production. Developers though, specially indie developers, smaller companies and so on, really should be worried, so far in the last years it was nintendo/sony/m$ who needed to beg developers to port shit to their consoles, on the current trend, they get the upper hand again.
>gaming
No they are hardware companies, not gaming companies, the tools they sell are multipurposed, they don't have a special affair with any particular group of customers and they will market towards the group that gives them the most profit, just because right now it's gamers it doesn't mean they won't change said focus if suddenly another, more profitable, group appears.

it's not that we don't give a fuck user, it's just that they're shit.

>and the previous card series will be cheap again
I'm not so sure, if that were the case, older generation gpus wouldn't have been impacted like they did.

I said "part of" you incredulous fuckstain.

Exactly my point. They could stop it if they want to. They don't want to.

>That's precisely what I'm saying,
That's not what you said, card producers don't want such fucking fickle customers to become their main source of profit, let alone the only one.

Why wouldnt nvidia and amd want to ramp up production? Retailers are the ones profiting from the price gouging. The only reason they wouldnt is because crypto ponzi schemes could crash at any time

Who the fuck would be stupid enough to buy a used card that was rekt by mining?

idort god race
I’ll be buying 2080 when it comes out too

This means games will continue to stagnate graphics wise, VR is in trouble.

1080p graphics plateaued almost 10 years ago. There is no reason to blow $1000 on 1080p games.

Everyone who hasn't researched the problems of buying a used a video card.

Retard, second rate cards that used to cost $400 now costing $900 is unaceptable no matter what your job is. They saw you coming m8

Never underestimate the average person's ignorance.

Basically everyone, it's already working like that mate.

No need to get triggered now.
That's merely because the gaming crowd has enough purchasing power to be their most profitable group of customers, if suddenly another group replaced that, they'd have no problem with giving a middle finger to the gaming crowd. You see they aren't exactly particularly interested in "driving innovation" as you said, why? Because that involves risk, which doesn't always translates into increased profit.

>card producers don't want such fucking fickle customers to become their main source of profit, let alone the only one.
That's not how it works, they produce X amount and they only care if they get to sell it or not, since miners have proven to have far more purchasing power than gamers, if on the future the demand from miners decreased all it would happen for them is that the demand for their products would go back to normal levels.

You said it yourself, they have no faith on the cryptomeme, it's a new thing so there's huge amounts of risks involved with that. That could mean 99% of the coins could crash next year and prices could go back to normal in 2 years, but if that's not the case, not only it will take a few years for them to ramp up production, we might never see prices go back to normal since it would be more profitable for them to use their facilities to produce hardwares tailored for miners rather than gamers.

Anyone?

Do your part and send letters to your congressmen to ban all cryptocurrency. I want to see those fuckers jumping off their balconies.

/biz/ here. you like it, little bitch? we will cryptomine your little hobby to the ground. this will be our revenge.
