Man Loghain is a very pleasant man to talk to. I actually really wish I didn't have to choose between him and Alistair.

I loved playing a bitter, racist City Elf boi that learned to overcome his prejudices after traveling with humans and nailing human hookers.

>inb4 Loghain did nothing wrong
>inb4 Battlemage is "fokken broken"
>inb4 "top-down is the only way to play"
>inb4 Cailan was a "fokken idgit"
>inb4 Morrigan > Leliana
>inb4 "Oghren is bro-tier stfu"
>inb4 "i want to cum inside grandmummy"
>inb4 "why WOULDN'T you have sex with Morrigan???"
>inb4 "Sten sucks with only 1 specialization"
>inb4 "The DLC is good, desu."
>inb4 "The Fade is LITERALLY >that level"
>inb4 lewd pictures of Zevran's asshole

Why is the shapeshifting specialization such a botch job? It's probably one of the worst things in the game, but the concept is cool.

>sound the charge instead
>get killed because the horde was literally there
He did the right thing there , however he sperged out and made nothing but bad decisions after that.
He's a retard but I still like him.

I always feel bad after sparing him when Alistair is mad and only that Anona cunt appears in cutscenes at the end.

>the horde was literally there
>no dragon

But... you don't

Because the only way to script a Shapeshifter to use their Shapeshifting abilities requires a precise understanding of the Tactics system and plenty of trial and error with custom settings, having to use the game's limited mob count to figure it out, and even then, there's not enough Tactics slots to make the most of the Shapeshifting abilities AND regular mage spells. The only reason to get it, then, is for the CON bonus for when you're making a Battlemage.

That's only if you're roleplaying with Alistair as a bro. If you play as a cranky dwarf or a bitter elf, you'll find it's much easier to cut ties with the narcissistic whiny fuckwad.

If Loghain joins Alistair leaves senpai

Fucking hell user. What are we supposed to discuss now? I just wanted to cum inside Wynne

Truly the best origin

That's not Dorf Noble

city elf > dwarf noble > human noble > mage > dwarf commoner > treefucker

>Noble with a younger brother
>ZOMFG he betrays you for inheritance/power
10/10

>Not playing a sassy brown city elf girl while telling humans to check their privilege

Oh what an adventure it was!

Mage is canon origin, so it's automatically the top choice.

loghain did literally nothing wrong

>giving a shit after DA: origins
besides the “canon” was a female slaveshitter

It feels the noble origin was cut short because you don't get the full closure and you have side with a shit eating Harrowmont. It feels there would of been a option for you to gain the throne with both dwarf origins.

Hell all origins expect for the human noble felt cut short during development.

>archdemon on the doorstep
>choose to recruit Loghain because there are bigger fish to fry and we need all the help we can get
>Alistair goes into whiney baby mode and leaves the party
>Alistair, a grey warden, runs away when there's an archdemon right there.

How the fuck was he not hanged for treason.

False. The last name of the human mage is Amell, which is Hawke's mother's maiden name. This would make both the Warden and the Hero cousins, not to mention that both canonically have a propensity to use magic (given that the trailers for the Warden show him using Flame Weapons by himself, which cannot be done unless he was a mage or, more specifically, a Battlemage, and in DA2's trailers Hawke is clearly a mage), they both have a tendency to use blood magic (the Warden as a consequence of drinking darkspawn blood, Hawke in his trailer), and both of them fucked the SHIT out of the pirate whore brings it home full-circle.

Yeah, I honestly would have loved more bopping around in the elf ghetto and living a day in the life before killing 20 guys and becoming a chosen one.

>DA2's trailer

I'm still mad I couldn't rip that faggot qunari part with the giant flaming hands.

False. Dalish elf who died sacrificing himself is canon.
twitter.com/BioMarkDarrah/status/364864515717873665

all characters exist. what changes is where Duncan is recruiting. Darksoawn blood doesn’t make you a bloodmage. the rest of that is speculation. the reason the Dalish female is canon is because it’s the save state on their website unless you alter it

I don't have a disgusted enough image macro for this stupidity.

The “canon” is whatever you change it to. honestly the best idea for the series was the banner to change canon

People actually played other DA games outside of Origins and Awakening?

The question is: do you really care about what nu-bioware think?
Most of this board probably knows Origin's lore better than them.

Shame we probably won't see Warden anymore because of this "canon" tho.

I mean, he could also have done the not cowardly and traitorous option and simply put his feet down insisting that the plan wouldn't work and they still needed to consolidate their power further.
Worst that could do would be that Cailan would imprison him for disobeying, but if he was half the patriot he claimed he was that would still be a better option than killing half the army by going along only to pull out at the crucial moment when the whole plan hinged on him.
The truth is that Loghain was in it for personal reasons, not because "he cares". He saw the chance to take for himself power that belonged to someone he didn't respect and took it, no matter the cost.
He showed that further by allowing his subordinates to do horrible shit and weakening every faction other than his own despite the fact that the darkspawn hordes were marching within the nation territory and trampling villages.

He leaves the party no matter what you do if Loghain is spared. He will still go along with the plan if he is hardened, but he will leave the party no matter what.

Yeah but it was justified. Sure, he only found out his daughter was being cheated on after he let Cailan be killed, but that still doesn't invalidate the fact that he was right in getting rid of a romanticizing, whoremongering, piece of human refuse.

>implying one extra guy that isn't even that great of a fighter and you can't really trust since he is a known backstabber and piece of shit with hostility against you is gonna make all the difference in the fact against a corrupted old god

There are a couple branches of that conversation that end with Anora ordering him his execution.

>can't decide what specializations to go with for mage

Would two healers be overkill for healing?

Sure, but there were probably better ways to do it that didn't involve killing half the army in the middle of a war for the fate of the entire kingdom.
And it also doesn't justify all the retarded shit he did after getting rid of Cailan.

If you're a mage, you have the following options:
A) Break the game and go Battlemage;
B) Roll a Spirit Healer so you don't have to bring Wynne everywhere and you can bring whomever you want to;
C) Choose either Shapeshitter of Heavy Flow, and vehemently regret your decision.

Arcane warrior and bloodmage was fun

So long as you have Cone of Cold and Stone First you will be fine.
Using the stone first on a frozen enemy does so much damage it is absurd.
And Cone of cold insta freezes almost everything in the game.

Wrong post, shit. Meant to reply to

>but that still doesn't invalidate the fact that he
got rid of the nations charasmatic leader who could've held them together in a time of crisis and would've allowed the only people who could stop the blight to enter the nation?

BUT THE ORLESIANS

You were going to make him another great warden since they're the only ones that can kill the archdemon. There is only Alistair, the french guy, and the PC before Loghaine as far as grey wardens go. He shirked his duty in favor of selfish revenge. To the gallows with Alistair.

I love that in future games, the Orlesians are shown to be so utterly incompetent. Inquisition invalidated my justification as Loghain as anything but a senile old veteran with PTSD

first you go spirit healer then blood mage because blood wound requires 14 lvl anyway.
Playing with 2 mages is broken even on nightmare.

Alistar is one of the few people who view becoming a Grey Warden as a great honor instead of Death Row alternative like the Night's Watch he's pissed because you basically Knighted the guy who slaughtered half the nation as well as fucked you over in every way possible

Doesn't matter. First deal with the archdemon, who is the greatest threat here, then deal with the criminal.

He is so alike Cailan who also thought that wars are all about glory, honor and killing dragons.
But Alistair really pissed me off when he started crying about preserving Anvil of the Void. He is one of the few party members who should know that dwarves are being slaughtered between blights and Anvil is the only thing that may save them. Plus army of golems is just what we may need in the future to defeat present blight.

Arcane warrior. The biggest problem with mages is that they constantly need babysitting and fuck up positioning for everyone, so being able to hold your ground as a tank does wonders for party effectiveness.

What the FUCK was her problem?

She had a... SHORT fuse.

Would you say that she was... SHORTsighted?

she could be called SMALLminded

Sten is a bro tier companion, I don't care what you say, him with two handed swords wreck shit.

The living embodiment of pragmatism.

Doesn't he even do that himself in the alternative timeline where the warden died in the joining? It's during that dlc were you play as the darkspawn and I'm pretty sure you see golems there. I think it also implies him and Leliana were fucking.

>Why are we going after the Holy Grail Ashes? What does this have to do with killing darkspawn?
>Fuck off Sten, if you don't like it fight me.
>Approval +10

If only everyone was so easy.

>"I am not impressed
>"I'm not here to impress you you fuck"
>Approval +4

Alistair is the exact same character as Carth, a fucking faggot know it all who only approves of goodboi choices
good riddance

>There are also werewolves running around during final battle implying he helped them wiping out the elves.
ABSOLUTE MADMAN

Isn't that only if you don't harden him?

what a great dlc idea that was. I wish they were creative enough to stuff like that again, or make a good game.

does it change his dialogue that much? I always benched him as soon as I could and never bothered exploring his quest

He's not as much of a bitch and basically sticks more towards pragmatism. If you aren't needlessly evil, you can get along. He still chimps out if you spare Loghain though.

>He still chimps out if you spare Loghain though
understandable.
that sounds good though, he might be tolerable in this case

playing this for the first time and have a couple questions:

I got Sten's quest but it doesn't tell me where to go for that, will I just stumble across it? Where should I be looking?

I'm about level 12 and was going to fight Flemeth, is that doable? I tried that fight once and I get the feeling that you're not supposed to be able to beat that without being max level and shit. Or is it just a case of stacking fire resistance?

Also as a 2H warrior, should I be wearing massive armor and use my skills rarely, or just find sensible heavy armor?

1.) at the town with the docks to enter mage circle

2.) yeah it’s not too bad with the right setup

3.) i always used dragonbone armor before dlc

It’s been a few years since I played last though

So... swords or daggers for ultimate rogue build?

daggers for rouge and 2H sword for mages

hardened Liliana a best

I like having a sword in one hand and a dagger in the other but I'm Style>gameplay and find ways to compensate for all the bullet holes in my shoes

ultimate Rogue build pre-awakening is the Rose's Thorn from Orzamarr and the dagger you only get if you're a city elf when you go back to the alienage

>Bioware will never unfuck and uncuck themselves and take after Larian and Obsidian and make a new real RPG with an isometric camera

Bioware died with the EA buyout. Even its founders want nothing to do with it now.

Why would anyone ever choose Branka over Caridin? There's literally no reason.

You mean choose to kill?

I want Golems?

I fucking love Templeman's voice
