Haven't unlocked too many pilots yet, but I have to say, my favorite squad so far is Zenith. Long range laser weaponry, auto shields, and a ramming tank (which takes zero damage with the right shields) is just pure fun.

>rusting hulks no contest
>CAMILA (kazaath is also fun)
>anything that's not fuggin iceworld

>Custom (pic related)
>Camila
>Ice

Wait till you find Abe. He gives his mech armor so the ram does no self damage.
>Blitzkrieg
>Abe
>Detritus
game has good music all around but Detritus' theme is godly.

It wasn't actually that hard, the only frustrating thing was that I missed the perfect on two islands because I couldn't kill the bosses.

Can I smoke explody blobs?

literally impossible

Henry "our guy" Kwan

Into the Breach mods when

"no"

FTL was pretty mod friendly so I imagine it'll only be a short while, this game has a more narrow appeal though so it'll probably be less widespread

by the time you get 3 damage janus cannon to ensure two kills with one shot all the enemies will have at least 4 health, if you want to survive the battles you're also going to have to freeze some enemies meaning that they will have extra protection. on top of that, RNG will literally never place 3 enemies in a row in a situation where the one on the outside has 1 hp or 2 hp next to a mountain

Behemoths are pretty based.
Only problem is I frequently cook the old earth tech on archive.
Also fuck destroying the dam as these guys.

scratch the last part, it wont push the outer unit, gotta be 1 hp on the outside

it would be easier if the other two units could reposition enemies but you would have to find alternative weapons and then power them up to use for this purpose

Just got my first island victory.
The push mech is amazing paired with Archimedes.

*first 4 island victory

Can you win a map with all your mechs dead?

get good lol

Also post em lads

i think so, mechs will always respawn after a mission, buildings are the only thing that matter

...

>Go to the detrius zone
>A.C.I.D. starts playing

Ice island makes this easier as they spawn a lot of 1 health enemies.

>at hq
>last turn
>boss already dead and everything else is pretty much all set
>full health firefly aiming at corporate tower
>toss boulder in front of the shot
>ezpz
>start of turn
>boulder takes fire damage that I didn't notice
>there goes my perfect

How the fuck do I use blitz squad

Is the secret squad worth the bother? What do they do and can you combine them with other mechs?

use the hook mech and the rock mech to set up combos for the whip, get the upgrade that stops the whip from murdering buildings

Make sure your time traveller has +1 reactor to immediatly activate the building-passthrought upgrade.

Worst squad. Absolute trash. Shitzillion of cores and they are still useless bunch of robocucks. Even Steel Bazinga without any upgrades is better than this abomination.
>zero crowd control
>most boring artillery
>la creatura Camila
>pushing crab is useless without dude that walks through bugs
>pushing crab is double useless when entire map is filled with farts

take a pilot that already has +1 reactor and put him on the prime

>Being this hilariously incorrect

>crew made up of pure CC has zero CC
>incredibly strong artillery
>Camilla is a bonus, not at all required
>positioning is useless
>positioning is useless
If you can't make the Hulks work this game might not be for you.

neat.

I think a mode that just dropped you into single randomized battles with certain objectives to complete would be pretty neat. Something like chess puzzles.

>not playing the best pilot

+2 damage inflicted when two of same veks are touching

They better add a lanius pilot

This makes my eye hard.

I destroyed about 20 mountains last game and didn't find any pilots. Are you guys memeing me

Starting to think there's no secret squad either

The game continues on until you lose all grid.

the ability to unlock the secret squad happens only if you unlock all other sqauds

How do you get the FTL characters? Pure luck?

What would Lanius even do if they're inside a mech? Absorbing the oxygen from a spaceship can have devastating effects on others but it does jack shit when you're on a planet.

The squad selection screen tells you about the secret squad once you've bought all the basic ones so it's not really that secret.

apparently you need to step on the rubble, but ive yet to get any of the FTL crew so i cannot confirm

Secret squad is just playable Vek (cyborg) units. They don't have achievements of their own but if you play random squads they can be used to unlock those achievements

I got mine after destroying a mountain and finding a switch, once flipped I heard the FTL jump sound and a Kestrel escape pod crashed down.

Inside was the zoltan and a reactor core.

Which pilot to use for Frozen Titans?

I like having Gana because you can instantly have your ice mech at the vek spawning zones. You get to freeze something, negate a vek from appearing and your frozen status is undone from the vek spawning damage.

Bethany in the ice mech. Free ice.

Use cute black girl that gives shield on your ice mech.

interesting strat, but it's better to just not get frozen at all

post yfw you returned it before 2 hours play time

It was $15.
Enjoy your happy meal.

...

This is why gaming is dying

...

fire instantly melts ice tiles

Only got 3 coins, zenith or hulks? Already got blitzkrieg

...

Both are fun. Zenith set up big laser shots, hulks spread smoke death clouds everywhere.

You need 25 more coins for secret squad apparently

why would i return a torrent

>birthday, work all day, no plans
>get home at like 7pm, ready to play vidya with friends
>"oh the FTL dudes released their new game"
>"okay cool so its like mech's fighting Kaiju"
>unlock the RUSTY BOIS after a bit
>decided to use them
>"wait... they smoke everything"
>shits lit senpai
>end up playing until 5 a.m.

this game is GOAT.
Literally never expected to be stoked I spent my entire birthday playing a singleplayer game

>not a single white pilot in the entire game

Why not just pirate then?

see
also Ralph is white and useless

>lying
I bet you didn't even play the game you idpol faggot.

>Karlsson
>Schmidt

also i just noticed that isaac and bethany are both joneses. married?

You can read pilot bios in the game files but not in-game for some reason.
They're brother and sister, but circumstances conspired such that both of them wouldn't be alive in the same timeline (ie early death).

NOBODY TOLD ME ALL THE VEK ON THE FOURTH ISLAND ARE FUCKING ALPHA WTF

rip

What's the best order to run the islands in?

entirely situational

by which i mean always avoid those fucking worms and glob throwers

doesn't really matter I dont think. What ever your first island is will be the easiest, and the fourth will always be the hardest.

...

don't listen to this tard , it matters a shitload. pay attention to the enemy and boss listing

fuck you nigger

probably should mention the mountain was already cracked when the map was generated

I have 20 hours lol

>b-b-but they have (((white))) names!
Have you seen their faces? The whitest you can find in traveler selection menu looks like kebab at best.

I accidentally picked blitzkrieg, what squad is actually fun

the not blitzkrieg ones

If I buy this on Humble Bundle, do I get Steam keys for both Into the Breach and FTL?

>buy

>2018
>Having skin at all
Look at this organic and compute the degree of its failure

>"Isaac [Pinnacle] has seen too many timelines collapse, and seen too many permutations for how things can go wrong - his high intelligence actually works against him, rather than makes him more confident because he can imagine all the ways things can go wrong (think Chidi Anagonye in The Good Place). He feels ill-suited for being a soldier (his squad mates usually agree, but his scientific knowledge is indispensable).

>While he and Bethany are technically brother and sister, there hasn't been a timeline where they both were alive to realize this (either Bethany dies at a young age, or Isaac dies - only one of them could be saved in the womb b/c of a chronic medical condition their parents had). He respects machines and sees them as equals due to being raised on Pinnacle (he has faith in Zenith, perhaps too much as he feels she's too intelligent to do anything wrong).

>Isaac is as much of a genius as his sister, although self-doubt weakens him. He has considerable knowledge of aeronautics, physics, gravitation theory and manipulation, and a number of other fields. It is likely Isaac could master any science he chose to, his only block is his own perceived limitations."

>"Bethany Jones [Pinnacle] served as a physics engineer at Pinnacle, helping design and refine Pinnacle shield technology. Having only grown up on Pinnacle, she's somewhat sheltered with regards to the other islands, and she tends to trusting of others, taking them at their word. She loves the cold and the snow, but she's also excited by the opportunities to see other islands in the Corporate archipelago and learn from the people there. While she and Isaac are technically brother and sister, there hasn't been a timeline where they both were alive to realize this. Bethany has had a more positive upbringing than Isaac, and her genius is tempered more with empathy and optimism than Isaac (who had a much more difficult childhood).

Yes.
I gave my FTL key to a friend.

blitzkrieg is one of the best, just get the building chain thing and you'll be whipping the whole fucking map at once

>squads
Rustling Hulks followed by Hazardous Mechs. I guess rift walkers are cool too.
>pilots
Chen Rong or whoever it is that lets you move after attacking is hands down my favorite. Don't care much for the rest.
>islands
Acid and desert are my favorites. Fuck ice land.

On a different note, should I play more FTL if I like this game? It didn't click when I first tried it, but maybe after 2 years of not touching it it'll feel better.

So the general strat is to get tanky and block the fuckers before the spawn'

>make it past two continents in decent shape
>never make it through the third
i am not very good at this. i may just rush the boss next time.

I got it by mistake earlier today when I killed a spider with push damage.

...

This game is more cerebral and fair than FTL. All the major decisions in FTL are made in between battles and a lot of them are RNG based. Live play is just optimization. More than ITB, FTL has situations that you just cant do much about and you have to escape from.
Still, managing to get a ship that seems unstoppable is a good feel.

I played Behemoths so much I forgot other mechs weren't immune to fire and got my time traveler killed. It was kinda sad.

I haven't played this game yet but somehow FTL was like crack for me so I'll just touch on the major aspect of FTL

>Risk management
There are always constantly RNG riddled risks thrown at you, every battle is an RNG risk, getting weapons you need to even be able to clear is a risk, everything is an rng risk. You better be willing to forgo upgrades for a better weapon that you can potentially equip in a sector or so if you're having bad weapon luck or your run will drop. Most RNG events aren't worth taking until you reach the point where you can easily handle the loses OR if it's really early in a run. Once you run a ship a few times and start to learn weapons and how to time them as well as boarding/fending off boarding tricks you can win pretty reliably in FTL, I have one game where I had over a 60% win rate on normal but until you really learn what does what as well as some restraint it's an incredibly unforgiving game. Roguelike skills will give you a massive edge since you'll actually be able to say no to potential rewards in favor of safety.

Does the win with 3 flying mechs thing count if you take the pilot who gives his mech flying?

I really like the flame guys, even though they're harder than some of the others
Bethany is a common pick, but I also like the guy that lets you take two actions if you don't move
Ice place for the freeze tanks

>doing well
>suddenly the Vek spawns some power combo of (alpha) leapers, scorpions, and/or spiders with a psion that immediately fucks off out of your attack range
>realize that I must either lose a pilot or take substantial grid damage
>desire to play plummets from 100 to 0 in one turn

Goddammit. Why must Subset design games like this?

Tell me this game has a mech that punches shit?

Does it have really in depth mech customization like Front Mission where you can change mech colors, and different parts and weapons and such?

You start with a mech that punches shit, you can choose color schemes from squads you like, and once you have a couple squads you can choose random or custom squad as an option to make your own team from whatever robots you want, both options even have their own challenge achievements.
