Sony looking to acquire new Japanese studio

As part of their reshuffling and expansion procedures during 2018, Sony are reportedly in the market for obtaining a Japanese development studio to add to SIE Worldwide Studios tasked with developing titles more in line with “core gamers”, presumably thanks to the strong international performance of certain Japanese games last year and due to Nintendo being a considered a direct threat once more. Whether or not they’ll just operate directly under Sony like Polyphony Digital or be absorbed into Japan Studio is unknown at this point.

Realistically, who do you think they might buy?

Platinum, easily.

Kojima Productions

Sega

From hopefully
The salt would be amazing

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Holy fuck if they have from as a direct studio under them this place would be fucking hilarious for years on end.

They need to buy either Capcom or From Software, Sup Forums would die

If they buy From PCbros would be btfo for 10,000 years

Doubtful that Kohima wants neo-KojiPro to be directly under a big company again, considering how pear-shaped his relationship with Konami went.

I doubt Kadokawa would want to sell considering From haven’t actually produced anything since they bought them.

NONONONONOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Capcom
Namco
Tecmo
From

??? I dunno

I can see that but from and jp studio have employees that transition jobs between the studios. Their relationship is really tight knit.

Stream doesn't even own western IPs, what makes you think it would but Japanese ones?

Capcom

If dubs it's from

>Sony buying KT

God, I’d hate to think what Cookie Monster would say on Facebook.

Is from, chinese cartoon forum from japan confirmed

Eat shit pc gaybros

>Acquire Capcom
>Deep Down gets funded
>Dragon’s Dogma 2 gets funded
>Lost Planet 4 gets funded
pls sony

but nothing user. I really doubt Kadokawa would sell From this soon.

>presumably thanks to the strong international performance of certain Japanese games last year
It's fucking Sega, isn't it? They're going to finally fuck Sega in the ass one last time so they can get a hold of Atlus.

Sega, they're not even trying to hide their Sony bias.

>"Bloodborne doesn't exist!"
>"Even if it existed, it wont be an exclusive!"
>"I will eat a dead squirrel if it is true!"
>"It will be shit!"

From made Sup Forums released enough salt for a new ocean. Bayo-tier.

Realistically speaking, if it amounts to anything it’d probably be some C-tier studio like Shift or Acquire. I’m cynical that Sony would make some enormous high-profile buy on a whim just because a few Jap games did really well last year.

It has been confirmed to be Nintendo.

probabl

>Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony are all now finally trying again with first-party and second-party
Holy fucking shit! What is going on?! Is this the 6th generation again? I'm having high hopes for the 9th generation.

Sony is really plotting make some changes come after April when Kaz steps down. Making arranges for more first party, looking to acquire more studios, and so forth.

No matter what they do, I'll never buy a PissStation console.

But some Japanese studios ported 8 year old ganes recently

>Implying Capcom is crap because of a lack of money

I think you're right.
Acquire lost a bunch of money on akiba's beat and that was made for the sole purpose of funding akiba's trip 3. They could easily pick them up but I'm not sure if they're even on their radar.
I'm betting on a smaller one that has worked with Japan Studio before. Maybe Dimps since they've worked on freedom wars.

Atlus

Did they deserve to die Sup Forums?

Perhaps. Maybe Platinum would see more success Sony than with Nintendo

Didn’t Acquire do the VR No Heroes Allowed! with Japan Studio?

Is Kaz, Sony's Iwata? He has made a great number of administrative blunders. Also

>Iwata died almost 3 years ago.

I admire your dedication to being a casual

sega owns atlus

LITERALLY no source for OP bullshit and Sup Forumsedditors are replying to this shit thread

Anyway, Atlus or Falcom would be neat acquisitions

Rerolling

it's actually very likely
sony has been funding alot of capcom games
I hope it happens
the salt from sega fanboys would be delicious but I'm not sure they even have enough money to aquire sega

Didn't liverpool make a racer for 20 years that never sold that well

>Don Mattrick gets fired
Xbox gets better
>Iwata dies
Nintendo gets better
>Kaz steps down
PlayStation gets better

Is this a pattern?

>kotaku

Development Studio not a publisher ya fucking twats sp stop saying Capcom as much as I want it.

they're literally making an xbone exclusive though

One game, SFV, and it underperformed

MHW had them fund the advertising, thats why its a multiplat and not exclusive

Sega is owned by Sega Sammy Holdings

of course

Sega isn't even fucking trying to hide their obsession for Sony. Their Yakuza display booth had Sony and PlayStation written so many times they stopped looking like real words.

How much is Sega worth anyway? No doubt the purchase would be worth it in the long run, as well as maybe dust off some of these old Sega titles and give them new life

>ONE game
>out of thousands of yakuza and miku games

>Sup Forums thinks Sony has the money to buy out a huge 3rd party company

Yes. The UK no longer makes good games.

this is sony we're talking about. they will fuck up reboots of those games.

Oh shit, you're right. That definitely could happen then.

Sega won't be bought out by Sony, considering their mascot only gets eaten up by the Nintendo userbase for whatever reason

Don't worry, Famicom. Litty is footing the bill.

why do all you retards think it's going to be some really huge, multiplat-developing company they're going to buy? i doubt any of them would accept a buyout

>What people think
From, Capcom, Platinum
>What is will actually be
Some small irrelevant studio

If you think Sony in it's current state can afford any of the big dogs, you are delusional, also From is owned by Kadokawa, so that's never happening

Sony literally just confirmed today that they're investing on their first party studios, they aren't like EA or MS acquiring studios and killing them

gematsu.com/2018/03/sony-interactive-entertainment-announces-organizational-transformation

Then they buy Kadokawa. Not really hard.

>as well as maybe dust off some of these old Sega titles and give them new life
Sony will not fucking do that. They have tons of IP corpses laying around they still won't touch
>Ape Escape
>Dark Cloud
>Onimusha
>Jak and Daxter
The list goes on

>Sony
>Affording Atlus

Lmao

sony is doing better than ever

Onimusha is Capcom. Are you thinking of Genji?

That has literally been the most successful film they've had in years

The movie branch is on life support at this point, kept alive by Emoji Movie and Jumanji

Interesting Microsoft said the same thing a couple of months ago.

>Sony
>Buying Kadokawa
You'd best be shitposting

Those are collaborations. The wargaming one was Sega's Valkyria Chronicles tanks Edelweiss and Nameless for World of Tanks.

That doesn't come close to covering all the loses from the Sony studio's

all the money they get just gets thrown into garbage like the emoji movie

>MS

lol

shit i meant Genji, damn how the hell did i get those mixed up

Yeah but Sonic also goes to Sony consoles and Sega gives Sony Yakuza and Project Diva. In fact Project Diva has been tramp stamped with the PS buttons, it's part of its identity for decades.

>Sony

lol

Nice source faggot

Fair mistake, Yoshiki Okamoto created them both after all.

Nice, I wanna see some more #Litty films.

>Yeah but Sonic also goes to Sony consoles
And it sells way more on Nintendo because autism is a running theme

read before you reply

if you read it carefully you'll see that only MS is mentioned as "a huge partnership". We've yet to see that yet.

Lmao, are you 14 years old? Sony was a titan in the 80's & 90's, Sony is a dying company these days, even in Japan they don't buy Sony products anymore, the Japs like Apple garbage these days

>dying company

LMAO

outside of gaming he's right.

The gaming division just needs to be the entire company at this point

doesn't matter they are making more money than in the 90s

I don't know why people are saying Sega.
Sega is just a skeleton crew right for everything but Yakuza and they are fucking up on that too.

It's actually pretty amazing how Sony went from the company that was joked about to own the world, to being worth less than the people who made Warcraft.

the emoji movie made them tons of fucking money even with it's extremely low scores

>sega gives sony yakuza, project diva, valkyria chronicles, project diva, initial d, and sonic
>b-b-but sonic sells best on nintendo consoles

If Nintendo was so profitable for Sega, then why is Sonic their only franchise they release on their consoles?

>What is inflation
Sega is quite wealthy, though not because of vidya, either way Sony can't afford them these days

Sega also has Atlus which would greatly boost Sony's first party support.

>then why is Sonic their only franchise they release on their consoles
You do realize Nintendo consoles have gotten games from like half your list right?

I'm more interested in when Disney acquires Sony.

>Horizon sells 7.6 million units
>Detroit got a release date
>Best month of PS+ ever
>Sony investing more into first party

What a week

So you faggots don't actually care about Sega, but Atlus

Sony is worth more than Activision Blizzard currently, albeit not a lot more.

Sonic & VC are multi plat, Yakuza has also been on Wii U

How would the switch have been under Iwata?

Sony has deemed Nintendo to be a threat again.
