KSA's got more combos than a fast food joint
we fgc now boys

It didn't impress me at first, but then I turned on my TV's "Gaming Mode", which apparently reduces input lag and increases performance a bit. This made it a lot more enjoyable to me. I found combining abilities more fun than the actual fighting.

>combos
>at 30fps

>Knockback is now much more akin to KSS(U)
>a game he hates
>but it's okay because this game isn't Superstar Ultra

I liked it

Oh shit, I didn't know there was a demo
I'm gonna play it right now, thanks

UK only.

What the hell are you smoking? No it's not.

European eShop only. If you don't have an European account, just go change your region settings in Account Settings. Everyone can get it.

>we fgc now boys
Remember when Kirby was a platforming series? I liked the Adventure-like games.

>he hates Super Star
It's clearly his favorite.
He thinks the remake's new content was unoriginal and it made the gameplay worse in some aspects, but that isn't hatred.

About what I expected. Clearly intended for multiplayer, didn't show off anything that hasn't already been showcased to some extent or other, fun to play around with. It's clearly intended for multiplayer and cooperative multiplayer though so I'm not sure how much value I'll get out of it going through single-player; it railroads you into using the CPU helpers at points. There were a hell of a lot more combos than I was expecting, just about every ability has either a combo-move or an elemental power-up with another ability.

Gets a bit muddled with the ai helpers but its nice to keep a reserve ability that you like, or just jumping on their head to use them specifically. Wish the partners werent so aggro though. Runnoff to kill stuff

i do wish there was some kind of orders system we had
you know like "stay close to me," "conserve your health," "go all out," "look for secrets" and whatnot

Can P1 and P2 both ride different helpers, so P1 would be on CPU1 while P2 is on CPU2, or can you only do one stack of 2-4 characters?

It's just kinda confirmed my fears over this game. It's bland, it's unresponsive, and it's the same old Kirby. The friends mechanic seems a little interesting, but not enough to swing me on it.

When I opened it and the stages were labeled "Grasslands" and "Cave and Castle", I knew there was something uninspired by it. The gameplay just confirms that.

that seems a bit shortsighted
remember this is a demo with stages being spliced from levels from the first world
again, we've barely seen anything from the full game

>it railroads you into using the CPU helpers
Of course it does, it's the first world of the game. It HAS to introduce you to the new features and how to use them. Once we get to World 2 I'm sure it'll be less rail-roady.

I'm pretty sure that if you play 2-player, both players can ride a CPUs of their own.

It's more of the same, yes, but it's with a different focus. That was Triple Deluxe's case as well. I think the fun will come mostly from mix-matching all the different combo abilities, and if you want more challenge you can just off your partners and go solo. Dunno what you're on about it being unresponsive though, I certainly didn't experience that (though I do also have a Gaming Mode on my TV that makes gameplay experience better).

Awesome. If only Wheelies were in (and helpers weren't hatted).

I feel like any kind of depth in a Kirby game is completely wasted because it's fucking Kirby. The easiest games ever made, you can beat them with your eyes closed.
Also, I will never understand how people can continue playing these games. It's a meme to say Nintendo releases the same game over and over, but with Kirby it's true. You've played on Kirby and you've literally played everything the series has to offer. Sure, they're cute and fun for 30 minutes, but how can you keep playing these when each one is just the last but with sharper graphics?

I mean, Kirby can only get so round.

the graphics arent about kirby, its about the environments he goes through

and kirby always seems to introduce things that spice up gameplay. and even when he doesn't the engine is just genuinely fun to play
megaman had 6 games with the same engine and they worked out fine

That's nice, but what's the point of using said combos when everything dies in 1 hit?

the utter catharsis of pulling off something like this
youtube.com/watch?v=7Awl7CUPMf0

Why do the helpers have to wear hats? I don't know why that bothers me so much.

Kirby's Adventure
>abilities
>little hubs where you walk to the next level
>secret areas which unlock more areas
>introduces copy abilities

Kirby's DL 2
>introduces kirby's friends
>kirby's friends have different gameplay styles
>having a friend modifies a power
>can re-visit bosses to play a mini game
>boss rush mode

Super Star
>several moves per power
>enemies are more active and have more moves
>2-player co-op
>introduces helpers
>mini games
>sub-games all with different styles of play and different stories

DL3
>each stage has a unique mission with a different character
>introduces gooey
>boss rush changes the visuals

64
>3D
>mix abilities
>dynamic camera
>enemy cards
>grounded world design
>4-player mini-games

Amazing Mirror
>metroidvania (kinda)
>4 player co-op
>ability to change colors
>super suck

They also look and feel very different from each other. Whereas the last 3 games are so similar they even use the same sound effects. TD, PR, and now Star Allies only introduce 1 new element but have the exact same linear level structure.

>TD
Hypernova, which is very context sensitive.
>PR
Robo suit, which is only compatible with a few powers, can't be taken to other levels, and makes the game insanely easy (even though the games keep getting easier already).
>SA
Focuses on Helpers, which isn't even a new concept. Hell they're even reusing it. The GCN Kirby was going to be focused on helpers.

If you want to copy-paste, at least fix the errors in the post before doing so.

I don't care, it's not even my post.

Then why the hell copy-paste it

If you're going to shitpost, atleast do it right next time

Because it's true.

>everything i don't like is a shitpost

Just played the first level of the demo, it does feel a bit slower compared to previous entries, but it was still a pleasant experience.
Zap Yo-Yo is great, I'm looking forward to other combinations in the full game.

Does anyone know how many elements there are? I'm kinda hoping ESP and Paint will be elements, for example, or least just more than simply fire, water, ice and wind.

Electric, fire, frog, water, wind, ice

Is there a way to play with no allies? It is super annoying

I like the demo though

Stop obeying what the game says. You can always get rid of your helpers.

You can disband helpers if you don't need them to progress.

You need them to progress in certain areas. Certain doors require 2 helpers to enter, certain areas require 4 helpers to use the gimmick, certain "puzzles" require an imbuement or a friend ability which requires helpers.

You can delete your friends at any point during the game. Just grab some whenever you absolutely need to, like combining an ability for yourself, opening a two-person door or doing the friend roll/fly/bridge/train thing, and then off them afterwards.

Yo-Yo's new moves are fucking great hot damn

Ended up making a new stone form compilation, the file is too big for imgur to process and it goes past the 4 MB limit, so here's a screenshot+crop version of it.

If it looks like shit then let me know so I can upload each image onto imgur.

Seeing Squeak Squad even being acknowledge at all makes me so god damn happy. And seeing Taranza with Sectonia prior to her corruption makes me so god damn sad.

Okay so I know this isn't relevant, but I have to ask. Am I the only one who considers everything in Kirby canon? It seems like almost half of the entire franchise is considered non-canon, but I really don't get why. Of course certain details like playing as Dedede in Triple Deluxe is non-canon, because we see him kidnapped by Taranza in the main game, but it's so rare that there's ever anything clashing with the main story mode, so why is everything outside of main games' main story modes considered non-canon?

I think it was something that a developer said on a Miiverse AMA thing.
Either way I still feel as though stuff like True Arena and the sort are direct canon.

That looks pretty bad, upload the original to catbox.

They did? Did they have a reason, or is it just an excuse for them to not have to put effort into their canon? (likely the latter but whatever)

I still see things like Magolor Soul, Dedede fighting Shadow Dedede, and Team Kirby Clash Deluxe as canon either way. Just want to know if other people do as well.

From what we've seen, World 3 onwards the stages get very abstract (at least in that world). I wouldn't judge its blandness on early game stuff. The unresponsiveness in undocked mode is an issue though

files.catbox.moe/65w5ql.png

I think they just left it as that, I did find something kinda related to it.

Speaking of Meta Knight, here's a question about Meta Knightmare Returns. Is there any connection plotwise between this mode and the main game's Story Mode?

It's basically an alternate storyline. Meta Knightmare Returns is a kind of bonus mode that you unlock after finishing the main game, but that alone doesn't hold much appeal for a player so we made it into a "what if" scenario.

While we're on the topic of Meta Knightmare Returns, Galacta Knight was supposed to be sealed away in a crystal, but he broke that seal and showed up again in The True Arena. Are Meta Knightmare Returns and The True Arena connected at all in relation to the story?

The True Arena is like another "what if" scenario, so you can't really consider everything to be connected. Furthermore, the extra-dimensional road that opens up when Galacta Knight appears transcends space-time, so it's difficult to give it a concrete place in the timeline. But if you consider the stages in which Galacta Knight appeared in the past three games, I think that will give you some food for thought.

>Meta Knightmare Returns is a kind of bonus mode that you unlock after finishing the main game, but that alone doesn't hold much appeal for a player so we made it into a "what if" scenario.
They made it non-canon because they thought having it be canon was LESS appealing to players? Fucking what?? No way am I considering this to be the case when their argument is that horrible. Meta Knightmare Returns stays canon in my head. What the hell

Why does 30 fps look smoother on Switch compared to PC? I need to learn this magic

Maybe your TV is doing something. Mine has a gaming mode that helps with input lag and those sorts of things.

Thank you.
You can see their answers in the second column of this image.

Downloading the full game right now. It probably won't be another Color Splash incident where I can play the game two weeks prior to release. The game's downloading fucking fast, too. It has to be under 4 GB.

He's an Ameritard who thinks UK = Europe

3.2 max, cofirmed by Japanese download cards.

Oh, that's neat. Not too much bigger than 3D World. Has anything from the game been leaked yet?

How can you hate one of the best games ever?

Do keep us updated dear user.

does this have 64-style ability combining?

I wish Kirby appealed to me. Whenever I see discussion of it pop up it seems like it has to be one of the most consistently good game series in history and the fans actually seem content and chill with it all

It won't let me play it, which I expected. I'm curious how the Color Splash download got messed up so easily while no other game did.

I'm playing it on the same monitor as my PC

No, I hope dataminers take their time and don't release spoilers far from the launch day.

No, but it does feature ability combinations that're about as meaningful. Hold up with an ability and it'll put a heart above Kirby or player-controlled helper as a signal to help a nigga out, and if somebody with the appropriate ability comes up (say holding up a sword and somebody with Ice wanders up) you'll get something. I counted elemental combinations for Sword/Yo-Yo with Fire, Spark, Ice, and Water (both via Parasol and the actua lWater ability) and a curling move with Stone that required Ice or Water.

Have you 100% all the damn Kirby games if not shut your whore mouth. Kirby is about the simple story, the deeper longer story and the music. It's a great series

Is the demo still only up for EU?

If you ever do wish to give it a try, I would recommend Kirby's Return to Dream Land or Kirby: Planet Robobot. It's usually in the latter half of the games that Kirby gets good, the intro half is usually meh.

Then I have no idea, sorry user.

Change your region settings to EU or make a new profile with EU region settings. That should let you into the EU eShop.

Boring, dunno how can anyone enjoy a game this easy. Literally no challenge and on top of that your friends do everything for you, what's the point of playing it?

Play it without using the friends then. If the game ever requires you to have them, just use them for whatever and then kill them afterwards.

Why would I play any Kirby games since I'm older than 12 now? lmao

Are you?

You don't act like you are.

...

>Kirby is about the simple story, the deeper longer story and the music.
I fail to see gameplay on that list. You know, the only thing that matters.

If you don't like games with simple gameplay, then don't browser threads about games with simple gameplay. It's that simple.

youtube.com/watch?v=7Awl7CUPMf0

>It's that simple
Carlos pls go

The one thing that drives me fucking insane (and this is in all the recent games with a Dedede fight) is that Dedede stalls in midair. Goddamnit HAL, make Dedede attack parabolically.

It's not "simple". Super Mario has simple gameplay. Doom has simple gameplay. Kirby is not just simple, it's cadual. So casual it actually hurts. It's essentially a fucking walking sim.

It’s way more fun with a friend. Probably just gonna play with one so it doesn’t become a mess though.

>posting your copypasta again because no one replied last time
Here’s your (you) I hope you’re happy now.

I'm too lazy to switch my account to European honestly

Boring in singleplayer. All around pretty uninspired. A solid step down from Robobot if you ask me.

Post that one boss you want to return

...

>complaining about Kirby being easy in the first few levels
>2018
it's like complaining that Mairo games have jumping

I’m pretty sure people complained about Mario’s jump height in Odyssey before release, actually.

I dunno if they'll be able to top the last kabula, though.

so he's perfect right?

Is this TAS?

>It's a meme to say Nintendo releases the same game over and over, but with Kirby it's true.
I'd argue that the series had more focus on being 2D that gives off that impression. Sure there might not be many differences with the newer titles, but you can't say the same for the older ones. Even then they all offer unique boss fights, and often make changes to staple abilities. They all offer something unique that the other games don't regularly have. Of course the earlier parts are a cakewalk, but it can get complex when you want to collect whatever you need to 100% the game.

On that note, they’ll likely be going full throttle with a 3D environment adventure game sometime in the near future considering how much they’ve been experimenting with it.

I really wish the ability mixing was more complex. But I had fun with it.

>ftw managed to kill Whispy and Dedede faster with no helpers
