And then every console they made after the ps2 was shit

eh? PSVita yes, but PS3 and PS4 sold a lot

this absolutely destroys sonigers, they can't stand that they weren't alive to experience when Sony was the fucking kings of gaming.

>TimeSplitters
>Tekken Tag Tournament
>Midnight Club
>Armored Core

Absolute kino. Gaming will never be this good again.

>PS3 and PS4 sold a lot
Doesn't make them not shit

The only thing PS2 does better than PS4 is the logo. PS4 logo is uninspired, PS2 logo is awesome, everything else will be remastered and playable on PS4 except for maybe a handful of gems

>No pre-order shit
>No DLC shit
>No +100gb download shit
>You bought the game and put it in the console and it was ready to play
Those were better times... I wish we could go back.

>dead franchise
>Tekken lol
>dead franchise
>not USA enough for Kojima
But they sold more than Mario right?

this
>no early access shit
>no day1 patches
>only every tenth game was buggy, instead of every single one

To be fair, there were occasionally "patches," in the form of the game getting a v1.1 release if a serious bug was found. In which case you'd need to re-buy the game to fix the bug.
This didn't happen often, of course.
And don't forget that we used to get booklets with not only instructions, but also lore and other cool bits.

>eternal ring

muh souls before they were souls

>If I keep saying the ps3 wasn't good that will make it true.

never was a fan of booklets and other guff, but honestly miss the days when the game would get panned critically and by audience for being a buggy mess

I know it happened, but i struggle to think of any examples.

>that click sound when you turn the logo
they don't do shit like this now

I really miss those days where games look unique and devs experimenting. Now a days everything feels by the book safe and shitty. What happened?

Businessmen and marketing men took over. Used to be that yes, they wanted to make a profit, but it was with a good game. Now they just want to make a profit, and the games are something they have to suffer churning out to acquire that.
Look at dev studios before about 2000, and there was little to no difference between management and programming.

Bigger budgets demand safer investments. Safer investments = what worked before.

Ladies and gentlemen, the best console of all time, I doubt the PS2 will ever be surpassed.

Nice meme, PSP, PS3, Vita and PS4 are all fine systems.

Fantavision is underrated, I just wish the Japanese soundtrack was available to use in all versions.

why is SSX not listed there?
That was the best launch title

holy shit are you me

I would have bought PS4 Fantavision update by now if it had the J soundtrack. I'm not kidding in the least. The game is nice.

I think the diversity has started to come back
but man 360/ps3 gen was cancer

I'm seeing a gameplay of this and I had the strangest nostalgia feeling, It felt like I really played this game back then, but I never even saw this game before.
Kinda unnerving.

>dead franchise
They weren't dead when the PS2 came out, what the fuck is your point, dumbass?

Same with me, it must be the first game I ever lost or something.

At least I still have a PS2 and they are not hard to find here in Brasil. I'll try to install that exploit that let's me play games straight from a pendrive

Weak launch desu

Wii was the real cancer and the reason last gen turned to shit.

But Yeah we are having a good gen until now even if the aftershock of 7 gen is still here and Nintendo going to another gimmick console and it success doesn't help not feeling anxious about it.

High resolution and high framerates require exponentially more time for world building and programming, leading to high costs for devs and so their investors take more active roles in the production, only they don't know shit about what makes a video game fun, so the whole thing ends up a compromised, joyless, carbon copy of every other big budget game.

Nintendo realized this more than a decade ago when they were developing the wii. That's why they've kept close control over their IPs and have always chosen to go with less power in their consoles. They realize graphicsfagging is a dead end street where no one will be satisfied.

PS4 will easily pass 155 by 2021

Graphicsfags

The only console I had more fun with, no bullshit updates, microtransactions or DLCs.

So which is the best way to play it? Emulator or original hardware?

It's a game-by-game case. SH3 looks so god damn beautiful when set to a high resolution, while the Jak series just shits the bed.

>Wii was the real cancer and the reason last gen turned to shit.
How entirely backwards.

>require exponentially more time for world building and programming, leading to high costs for devs and so their investors take more active roles in the production
Of course. But that's exacerbated by the exponential costs of marketing as well. So to make money, they have to cover their budget, and then cover the marketing budget. Vicious cycle.
>only they don't know shit about what makes a video game fun, so the whole thing ends up a compromised
Ayup. That's why big budget games now are all sequels or highly derivative.
>"That Metal Gear thing is good. Do another one of those. But also this crafting and open world shit, the kids are eating that up, so make it do that as well. Now how can we minimise the programming budget on that?"

lol no

Ps3 had the much better library of games

>Ps3 had the much better library of games

Why would you emulate SH3 when you've got a PC port of it?

>*Steps over pile of shit that someone left on the path*

Quality > quantity

PS2 had way too much shovelware

Could be a roundabout way of saying nothing is better than the PS2?

And who's forcing you to play the shovelware? There's still a fuckton of great games on the ps2.

I grew up with the PS3. My older brother played both and preferred the triple. I tried to play some of the older games on PS2 but they didn't age as well.

Play some uncharted and then try and play some Jak. Unless you're blinded by nostalgia, you'll see what I mean.

u r gay

no u

>grew up with PS3
>blinded by nostalgia
Nah you just have shit opinion.

how the fuck could you say such a thing to me

Underage b&

First-party games sucked on PS2

>Play some uncharted and then try and play some Jak
Literally doing that right now. Just finished trophy whoring UC4, and now playing Jak 1. UC is decent, but Jak is better.

kek look at that angry xbone user

Here we see the Playstation Nation struggling to pick up a casual platformer for kids after years of brain atrophying cinematic experiences.

>mfw launch ps3
>multiman can be installed easily now and I have infinite access to ps1 ps2 and ps3 games

PS3 had:

>infamous
>LBP
>Uncharted
>Demon's Souls
>DC Universe Online
>TLOU
>all good PS2 games remastered (most on 1080p)

You are the reason games such today. You.

Just got up to the Lava Tube, and yea, I've lost skills hard. Biggest complaint is the lack of subtitles, too.

No launch PS3 was alive after 1 year, your post is bogus

The PS2 launch was kinda shit desu

Ico, God of War 1-2, Shadow of the Colossus, Twisted Metal Black

I reflowed mine myself.
Suck my dick nerd. lmfao

>Ico, God of War 1-2, Shadow of the Colossus

All three are cinematic games
