Already 600+ hours on Rocksmith alone, been playing for 12 years now, what's your excuse?

I've been playing for 10 years, user; I even make music with it.

>rocksmith
>learning how to play guitar
LOL

an actual teacher would be better, but it is a lot of fun for jamming on as a hobby

It's a great practice tool. Stuff like the scale arcade games are a fun way to practice once you've reached a basic level through other self-study or with an actual teacher.

But I'm gonna learn to play mandolin instead

I get more tail and high qualtiy women with my piano skills.

This, guitars were always the soy instrument and now they're literally on their way out. Learn drums or bass guitar, hell learn piano and become a god.

Just play an offset like all the other soyboys.

>soy instrument
thats is folks, 'soy' has officialy lost its meaning and has degenerated into crap, just like cuck

Soyboy was shit since its inception.

>tfw already know how
>tfw first time I picked up rocksmith at a friends I got a trophy for 95% accuracy in the Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver solo
dont need no tutorial

me dont know how to play guitar

Are the cables universal for all versions?

yes, but you can also use whatever audio input you want now

>You need to buy a special rocksmith® adapter™
dropped

>it's never too late to learn ;)
sure dude

>not learning all of the above
you only have to learn musical theory once...

how does this even work? I've been playing guitar for two years and it looks pretty cool. My electric is shit tho, mainly play acoustic, does it matter if you have a shit or not guitar?

You know how tuners work? Same principle.

It's not perfect, and you can easily be a note off on a chord or something and still get a pass, but you'll know you fucked up.

Because both piano and drums are much more fun

my friend said good pickups helped. thats all the information I have.

Can you? The cable was the reason I never could play this game, I even have an electric guitar but dropping 50 euros on the cable alone was too much for me.
What are cheaper alternatives?

Does the newer rocksmith have a better / less retarded way of learning songs?

In the version I have songs play at full speed but you only start with a limited amount of notes
(WHAT THE FUCK)

Did they change that? Is there now a mode where you play with all notes, but start out at a very slow speed?

Because i play bass

radioshack.com/products/stereo-inline-adapter-1-4-jack-to-1-8-stereo-plug

There has always been a practice mode

I've been learning by myself and with a teacher for over 10 years and now I'm a touring musician. Why haven't you, OP?

Because i'm learning how to write, as that aspiration is more important to me and I don't really want to be a musician

I have this and a guitar, but I don't feel like I've really learned how to play from it.

wow that's all? Fucking amazing, thanks.

You just have to plug it into the Line In on your computer.

Can I use my asio usb audio interface now

it's practice tool, not a learning tool.

Playing locksmith alone won't get you anywhere, it's meant to make learning outside of the game more accessible

you've been able to for years now

>pick up my guitar
>play a bit
>lose all interest in half an hour and put it away
>repeat after a month or two
I really like drumming and screaming into the mic, though.

I can easily nail harder parts on rocksmith but when I play exactly the same way outside the game it sounds like ass. Rocksmith just checks if you hit the right notes, not if you hit them well.

oh shit nigger, thanks, missed that. Bought on release and uninstalled pretty quickly

also you can pirate all the dlc on a legit steam copy if you buy the song "cherub rock"

Meh, I'm learning keyboard instead. Piano has undisputedly the best setup for if you want to write music anyway.

Well that sucks, I have no way of learning outside it at the moment.

You have an internet connection.

This is important. It's essential you learn how to use proper technique for good habit and for good tone. Then you can practice in game.

rocksmith is some of the most fun i had with a videogame in recent years, too bad my piece of shit guitar broke

>muh scales
I feel like all I do when I'm learning scales is just memorizing the motion. How do I get it to the point where when I'm playing a song in a certain key I know roughly where I'm supposed to go from one note to the next? Is going up and down the scale over and over going to do that for me or do I need to do something else?

Way ahead of you. I just need to get a decent acoustic, I used to have one but it was kinda trash so I sold it on.

I've played for 14 years but I've never tried Rocksmith. Does it have anything for 7-strings?

i already have my 1/4 ts-m cord to connect to my amp, but what other things do i need to play rocksmith?

No, but you can use the 7 string on the 6 string songs, as it checks for pitch, not hand position.

Yep, you need to do something else

Try transcribing songs. i.e. playing by ear

Pick a song with an EASY guitar part. Play a second. Pause. Find the notes that were played on your guitar and repeat what you just heard.

It'll be hard as FUCK when you start out, and figuring out a single second of a song may take minutes, but over time your brain forms the connections you want

Take a pentatonic/minor scale. Put on a backing track and experiment around until you find the notes that sound good. At first you'll be grinding the scale up and down but if you learn every position of the scale you can branch off around the neck. You'll pick up licks and stuff from learning songs and just implement them over time.

How old are you?
