So for the first time ever, I took Sup Forums's advice, and decided to get this game. It was fucking epic, thanks for the recommendation.
Oh and I guess general Nier Automata thread.

Just bought it and downloading, is it really that good?
Sometimes taking Sup Forums's advice is good.
The second play through can be slog if you don't the characters gameplay style. Beyond that It's a solid game with a 10/10 soundtrack that's definitely worth playing through.
2B is sex incarnate
this game is so fun
Depending on how old you are, and whether you played it or not. All I can say is this is the first game that gave me a feeling that I last felt playing Ocarina of Time when I was 8 years old (29 now). It has this sense of wonder and mystery that only OoT ever game me before. It's awesome.
I've never played a JRPG to completion before (only started them then lost interest), so there are alot of aspects of the game that may be strange to you if you're not a regular JRPG player (character design, dialogue, voice acting etc.), but the game is absolutely awesome. I was completely engaged from start to finish and completed the first ending/route in 2 sittings.
I wanted to buy Nier: Automata, but I still didn't buy it because I don't want to play with the faggot.
You just gonna post this in every thread?
Yeah the supporting character is a real faggot, and the game is all round cheesy as fuck, but that didn't stop me enjoying every second of it. (Except for the final boss, that was more a pain than anything, but it still worked in the context.)
I posted my comment in 2 threads.
Let's keep it that way
I recently bought it on the Squeenix sale and I have to agree.
It does have some flaws IMO, most noticeably in the way the "open world" areas are integrated into the game, which just feels half-assed and pointless to me, but overall the game is pretty amazing. I'm not far into the game yet (just beat the THIS CANNOT CONTINUE boss, shit was so cash), but I can already tell it's going to be a great ride.

The story is interesting so far, but I really hope it throws some good twists at me since the way it's going right now I'm pretty sure I can predict exactly where it's going already.
Also this:
I love this game but I don't enjoy 9S' playstyle much, I'm doing the side quests as much as I can but I try not lingering too much either, do I risk missing important stuff?
Also there's not nearly enough porn of the commander.
Worth it even if it has Denuvo?
about 6 hours in, the combat feels more shallow than bayo and MGR but overall it's a solid game
I suggest you get the fuck out, spoilers and all that.
Ah dude the best is yet to come, the section you're on is awesome and the story expands from there beautifully.
The story isn't exactly a twisting/unexpected plot twist style thing, but the scenarios it shows you are fucking mind-blowing in a unique way. You'll get what I mean as you play it.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's the best action RPG I've ever played (other than Ocarina of time when I was a kid, it's equal to that)
If you mean about tits it might be best to check a guid to not miss out on bp just so you get max rank for save transfer.
The easily missable books are nice but not mandatory since they just give the best weapon in the game but doesnt give any actual story.
I just finished my first playthrough of Nioh and I doubt other action RPGs can compare. I figured I wold treat this more like Bayonetta-lite. I like this game's score but I don't need to play it to enjoy that. Still worth?
If you doubt any other action RPG can compare then you'll just have to try it for yourself. I don't think I've seen one person on Sup Forums say this game isn't awesome.
>I wold treat this more like Bayonetta-lite
Eh, aside from some flashy moves it's not that similar to Bayo or any other Platinum game, it's a lot more story focused.
it is a shame you never played the original, which was very zelda like (think mash up of automata's style with fable's combat system and OOT style delivery of story, boss fights, and overworld)
Yeah I've been looking into playing some more JRPG's since I played this one. I guess maybe it's something I can get into these days, never could until now.
gameplay/combat is bayonetta lite with more RPG elements. However the game shifts genre, camera perspective, and style of combat quite often. Within the same set piece the game might change between side scrolling platformer, to Bayonetta boss fight, to Star Fox 64, to side scrolling shooter, to top down touhou shooter, to visual novel, all before concluding with an epic one on one battle. Because of elements like this, it is much more than just bayonetta lite, even though the core of the base combat system is essentially that. The other thing to consider is absolutely amazing characters and character development. It seems basic and dumb at first, but the way it unravels, especially at the start of route C, is masterful.
Yoko Taro succeeded where Kojima failed in the Phantom Pain. Chapter 3 is real, and it exists in the third act of Nier: Automata. More concentrated Kino than any other story in gaming right now.
Route B is kind of a drag, but it is worth it in the long run.
The thing with JRPGs is that 99% of them are absolute garbage, but the remaining 1% are magical and godlike, even if they are heavily flawed (dragon's dogma is a great example here).
The Original Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii will give you that magical feeling. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will give you that feeling as well, but because it is significantly more anime and has more pronounced flaws, it might be a less magical experience overall, even though it is technically better. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in particular has incredible directing during its cutscenes.
Xenoblade X unfortunately has a shitty story, but the single best open world in gaming, the act of exploring the world itself is probably the most magical experience I have had in gaming in years. Unfortunately, because you wont care about the story and characters, once you have had your fill of exploring and experiencing the world, you will never really want to return to X.
1 = 2 (although 2 is more flawed and has more anime shit, in exchange for greater technical excellence) >>> X.
Other JRPGs worth considering includes Dragon's Dogma (highly highly flawed, but still an incredible experience), Mother 3, and Persona 4.
I was actually considering getting around to playing Xenoblade Chronicles. Might have to give it a go now.
It's been a while since I played anything that wasn't an online shooter or a Western RPG. So I'm definitely considering playing some of these JRPG's and seeing what else is out there.
