What is a good starting point for getting into Fire Emblem?

You posted it.
Also, Awakening or The Sacred Stones.
I don't know which game I posted in the thumbnail.
Blazing Blade (just titled "Fire Emblem" in the west) for GBA.
FE7. Then you play FE6 and FE8.
Or you can get into nu-FE with Awakening.
Awakening was my first FE game and after replaying the rest and trying to get back to it, it really pales in comperassian.
Blazing Sword
Sacred Stones
Awakening
Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright
Is blazing blade a remake of the first game? Where the fire emblem games on nes any good?
>NES FE games
They are horribly outdated. An no, Blazing blade is not a remake of the first game. Shadow dragon is the remake of the first one.
Is shadow dragon good for beginners of the series?
I don't really mind outdated games.
Its really oudated I do not recommend FE1 on the nes as your first game. And as for the remake of FE, called Shadow Dragon, its decent start but FE7, FE8 and FE9 are all much better entry points.
I'd say Mystery of the Emblem on the SNES is the best place to start. It contains a remake of the first game and the gameplay is core Fire Emblem. Only downsides are that the interface isn't as nice as later games (but it sounds like you don't care) and the difficulty is rather low (but it's your first FE so that should be fine).
However if you're the sort of person who wants to play FE because you like to see minor characters get a lot of character development, start with FE7 or later. This became a big part of the series later on.
This. Blazing Blade is great one to start with, but you might find an easier time getting into with Awakening. It's super easy enough to get you through the motions and familiar with it all. And the pair up mechanic is helpful for new players. It's not the greatest game in the series, but it's definitely a good start.
Also, Blazing blade for best girl
Don't play awakening, assuming you're playing FE because you want to experience some form of enjoyment. The battles are less fun than even the NES games because the battle system is a clusterfuck of RNG garbage and the level design is garbage with no variety. The characters and story are also poor quality. Yes, it's "easy to get into" but it will just leave you with a bad impression of the series.
No, it is not.
Fire Emblem 7 and Awakening are the best starting points. Don't worry about starting with the first game, there's no overarching story you need to worry about. Just play 7, it's one of the most simple games in the series and a great way to get a handle on basic mechanics. Awakening is also a friendly start but because it has readily available grinding it can encourage the wrong kind of playstyle. 7 is best as an intro, then you could try awakening to get a taste of modern fire emblem. After that you can try anything you like. Don't play the NES games though except as a novelty, as the remakes do them better for the mostpart.
Shadow Dragon isn't even good for veterans of the series.
The best starting point is Cipher!
>best starting point
Path of Radiance (9)
>good starting points
Sacred Stones (8), Shadow Dragon (11)
>get this shit out the way first god why is this game treating me like an idiot
Fire Emblem (7)
Everything else is either a sequel or not a good starting point.
Which is the best game in the series?
I saw a video on that shit a few days back that was pretty neat.
WHY IS CHAPTER 10 CONQUEST SO FUCKING HARD AAAAHHHJ
How can you be having trouble with it? It's a fucking defense chapter. You know, the second-easiest objective these games have?
My favorite game
I beat it without losing any units, but it took a really long time.
...
Fire Emblem 6
It's a legimitately hard chapter, especially on lunatic
Use Camilla
Awakening/Fates, simply because they have the best music
>Awakening
>best anything
(lol
5,6,9 are my top 3 favorites. Replaying them all to see if they still hold up.
Do the other trs games play like FE? I heard they changed it into some sort of RTS game or something.
FE7 because the tutorial is kind of painful if you already know how to play (if you don't download a save and play hard mode)
You're missing some. Where's Birthright?
I heard birthright has awakening tier maps so I think Ill pass on that. And the writting in Conquest is pure shit and Revelations is much much worse WITH awful gimick maps so ill skip that one as well.
The Original 3, well, I do want to play them but their remakes are all around much better. save for FE3 and FE 12 since 12 removed weapon weight and added the cancer that is the MU
Berwick Saga is still turn based tactics, but unlike TRS, it doesn't feel like literally FE on playstation anymore.
So you like FE6, but you're going to just take other peoples' word as to whether something else is good?
Thats a shame. I loved FE on the playstation and I would have rated it higher then FE7 and 8 if it had this one thing. Which I forgot. I think it was rescue that TRS removed.
Did't the same guy that made TRS made a FE clone in some sort of rpgmaker a while ago?
5 or 6
I mean. I have seen the dialogue and story of revelations. I am not talking their word. I saw it online in a lets play since I heard it was just the worst thing ever.
Where's Cipher?
Yes, Vestaria Saga. It's supposed to get a localization, but I haven't heard any news since it was announced.
Hot dam. Shame he left.
I'm glad someone else agrees about radiant dawn
Its just a mess of a game. It lacking focus is the biggest issue.
Also just found out thracia came out 3 years after the N64. What the fuck Nintendo.
Not same guy, but RD was a bit lackluster with the amount of times you change armies. It was jarring and barely gave you time to enjoy any of them. Make the game longer or take some out.
That's roughly the same distance between Kirby's Adventure and the SNES. It happens. But both of those are small time compared to Fit a 2014 ON THE PS2.
>Shadow Dragon isn't even good for veterans of the series.
wew
Shining Force 2 is better.
Not him but the whole, kill your friends to unlock bonus chapters rubs me the wrong way. That and how ugly it is
And 3 is even better
The whole series is superior overall
Nobody plays the gaidens anyway. All the characters you would get for them are shit.
Sacred Stones
Alright lads, post em.
>let's remake the first FE!
>let's make it look worse, sound worse, and play worse, and make it so you can only get to the new content by killing off half your army!
genealogy of the holy war is easy and engaging storywise
>all this love for fe6
i love you guys
...
>a ds game in any way worse than a nes game
wew
Wait, that dwarf that La'charel or whatever her name was in FE8 is a pirate/brigand? I thought he was a fighter.
Yea when did FE6 get so popular?
Yeah, it's worse in every way, that's right.
Berserker was traditionally a promotion for brigands. See FE6.
I'm not going to defend the awful gaiden chapters, but everything else you said is objectively false.
fe6 was the only one Ive played so that's why it's my favorite
but it's also difficult and the few characters worth using are interesting
>starting and only playing FE6
for what purpose user?
Why not?
You are missing out on the other fantastic games in the franchise. Thats for only playing FE6
And Idk. FE6 is a weird starting point to getting into FE as most people would say to start out on 7 8 or 9 or awakening if they have or think you have shit taste
Imagine having such shit opinions. I certainly can't.
Not that other user. FE6 was my first FE and it was a pretty good call. Only downside was being completely unable to stand 7.
I asked a friend that was really into the series what the most difficult gba game was because I'm not a pleb (more importantly it'd take more time to complete and I was looking for a time burner) and I was told fe6
I only really ever played it when I was waiting for something or lunch breaks and that type of thing and when I finished I didn't really feel like spending money on more games
still really enjoyed it though
7 was not bad though. Other then the hand holdy intro. And the Dora moments.
>I didn't really feel like spending money on more games
>what are roms
I am glad you liked it though user
7 is a total downgrade from 6, though.
6 is my favorite game but that is not really true. 7 had more maps with different win cons. Had 2 different paths with varying degrees of difficulty. and added in support endings. and being a total downgrade still does not make it a bad game.
>7 had more maps with different win cons.
7 had easier maps with worse win cons. Seize is the best map objective. Would you prefer route? Escape? Defend? Nobody complains about FE4 being nothing but seize.
>Had 2 different paths
It had two different campaigns that shared almost all of their maps. Binding Blade had actual branching paths that were completely different and offered different characters.
>added in support endings
No it did not.
>still does not make it a bad game
I agree.
Play the most recent and work backwards. Ignore the gachashit mobile game.
The one that you posted (FE 7: Rekka no Ken) is a great starting point and it's definitely my favorite in the series. It's not hard enough that you will not be able to beat it as a beginner (like 776) and it's not so easy that you get used to a laid back strategy game (like Awakening). It also has one of the best stories and by far the best setting of any FE game.
Gachashit mobile game? Are you talking about FE: Heroes? What is so bad about that game?
It's a mobile game and it's gachashit.
I actually finally tried it for myself the other day. It's a decent time-waster. But then, I enjoy Cipher, so...
Pleb filter.
>Seize is the best map objective. Would you prefer route? Escape? Defend? Nobody complains about FE4 being nothing but seize
I disgree. In a Srpg its good and healthy to have varied win-cons.
>It had two different campaigns that shared almost all of their maps. Binding Blade had actual branching paths that were completely different and offered different characters.
Correct. but the different branching paths chapters in FE6 and 7 are around the same amount no? With 7 it had a different view point though.
>No it did not.
I meant it re-added them. I know 4 had them originally but 5 and 6 removed them other then Roy's.
What exactly is gachashit?
What characters you get and how good they are is entirely dependent on chance and the structure of the game is designed to encourage you to drop real money on it.
>I disgree. In a Srpg its good and healthy to have varied win-cons.
And I disagree. I find consistency more appealing, and think defense and rout maps are pushovers and slogs respectively.
>Correct. but the different branching paths chapters in FE6 and 7 are around the same amount no?
FE7's branching paths are only one stage each. Unless you mean across both Eliwood and Hector mode. Then I don't know.
>I meant it re-added them. I know 4 had them originally but 5 and 6 removed them other then Roy's.
Fair enough.
I did mean hector and Eliwood. Its been a while since I played FE7's both routes but I gotta again which had more.
Is fire emblem 6 in english? Where could I find a rom of that game?
Each one is in english, but 1-6 are fanslations. For rom, just use fuckin google.
Nicoblog has it. I had to get a replacement one day, and it was the easiest place to find it.
What about FE6?
>What about FE6?
FE6 is the worst starting point of the GBA games. for a few reasons.
>No map objective variety, all seize maps and thrones have very high bonuses in FE6
>Weapon hit rates overall lower than 7/8
>Large pool of units but very few noteworthy ones large amount of roster is bad
>True ending basically requires a guide to figure out
>Ambush reinforcements
Meaning reinforcements move the turn they spawn unlike other GBA games. Very cheap and requires prior knowledge from a guide or seeing them.
I would definitely play FE7 or 8 first, should also not that 7 is actually a prequel to FE6.
sacred stones is best fire emblem
The game almost always warns you about incoming reinforcements though. An NPC or the boss will outright say "hahaha those reinforcements from the south should be arriving soon" or "go around and attack from the north so we can pincer them". The only times I can think of that they don't are chapters 14 and 21.
>tfw I'm playing through TSS for the first time right now
>only just realize that the women I killed a few chapters ago was recruitable
I'm guessing she's shit and that Joshua is the best myrmidon, though. Still, that's the first time I've ever failed to recruit somebody in FE. I kinda like it.
how good is fire emblem new mystery of the emblem on the ds
how good is the english translation
is there a guide so I don't end up killing recruitable characters
It's alright. Good. Yes.
>how good is fire emblem new mystery of the emblem on the ds
removed weapon weight and added the cancer that is MU. Other then that, it has alot of the same maps from SD. And is a sequel to SD. So play SD first and wait a bit before you jump into NM
>how good is the english translation
As far as I can tell its good
>is there a guide so I don't end up killing recruitable characters
Idiot. If they are handsome/not ugly there is a 99/100 chance you can recruit them. If not just use google
