Why do so many video game collector's editions come with artbooks. Does anyone ever look at that shit?

Nope, they stay in the box.
>collectors edition
cancer edition you mean, i remember when art and manuals came with every boxed copy
They need content for the collectors editions and since they already have their concept art it's easy to just include that.

I collect it, it's nice to have an artbook honestly, it seems more substantial then a bootleg looking statue that will wear down.
I got the Bloodborne collectors edition because it was the same price.
The art book is really nice.
The best artbooks are ones with little character info bits and shit. Plus sometimes it's just nice to have official reference material for characters you like.
The artbook for The Witch and the Hundred Knight Revival actually showed extremely early art for the sequel which was still in early development at the time, which was neat.

Art books that come in CEs are usually shit. I bought two Bayonetta artbooks from Playasia and they're pretty nice
>game is advertised as coming with an art book and soundtrack disc
>book is just a few pages of concept doodles
>cd has like 5 songs on it
I-I do.
not only look at it but i fucking love game arts and i buy artbooks exclusively
What sort of naive dad tier are you suppose to be if you buy this crap...
Suckers never die user, they just get replaced.
Hoarding autists.
>that ASMR video with this artbook
Good shit

Artbooks are great. Yoshitaka amano has some great ones.
I should also add its nice to just admire the beautiful art and get lost in the fantasy world.
You kidding? I absolutely love art books. It’s a shame more games don’t come with them. I buy art books separately if I ever see them in stores. I love looking at concept art.

A fool and his (lack of) money
I appreciate that, user. It's a shame you never actually get to thank anyone on this site, hell, you shouldn't even know that I was the original poster. Thankfully, I'm a clever cookie.
No problem buddy, I just saw your post from page 1 and it reminded me that video existed and that I liked it a lot
Hope you enjoy it too
It’s strange to me that you think that way, because for me an art book is just about the only worthwhile thing they could possibly include in a special edition, other than maybe a soundtrack or a documentary about the making. All that dumb plastic crap is worthless to me.

Art books are cool. Remember getting the ones from original guild wars. They were fantastic.
Most of the time it’s not “concept art” that goes into those. It’s either promotional art or stuff made specifically for the book. I think the uncharted series art books DO use concept art though as they go super detailed with it.
people who like to collect things or are curious about designs in a game
>A fool and his (lack of) money
Not OP but my problem is actually that most Collector's Editions are too cheap for what they offer and you aren't spending enough money to get anything good. Especially figures which contain figures.
A good figure costs at least $130 on its own.
A good art book probably costs $30 and has hundreds of pages.
A good OST has the complete sound track and not an 8 track sample disc.
This is what I dislike about these bonuses, they aren't good or expensive enough for me.
Just buy what you want separately and it'll be better.
